About this cottage rental
Fall asleep to the sounds and motion of gentle river waves in this fully equipped Cottage for three. If you love the water, you’ll love Ketch Cottage. Located in Pleasantville, NS. Ketch Cottage is a unique floating house experience with modern décor and amenities.
The La Have River runs from the heart of Bridgewater to the mouth of the Atlantic Ocean (roughly 15 kms). From Bridgewater, travel down the west side of the river 5 kms to find the cottage. From there you are 15 minutes from Fort Point Museum, artisans, distilleries, wineries, and one of our favourite places to eat, the La Have Bakery. From the Bakery, hop on the cable ferry toward the East side where you will find yourself closer to Oven’s Provincial Park, Lunenburg (a world UNESCO Heritage site), and the charm of the Lunenburg’s surrounding areas. On either side of the river, you’re on Nova Scotia’s Lighthouse Route where you’ll find Nova Scotia’s most popular and sandy beaches. Drive 20 minutes along the river’s west side to find Risser’s Beach, our largest lifeguarded family friendly beach, Crescent Beach, a drive-on beach with sprawling sand, and Green Bay Beach, a rustic coastline with charming places to explore. Drive 20 minutes along the river’s east side to find Hirtle’s Beach, a sandy and surfing haven, and Gaff Point, the best hiking adventure in the area. In Bridgewater you'll find the Centennial trail, an 8 km long hiking / biking trail running through the town.
If staying closer to home is more your speed, enjoy the fire pit, kayaks (2), SUP (2) or sit on the cottage’s deck and watch the river activities, fish or just soak up the sun.
Ketch Cottage is a 420 plus square foot floating cottage with a dormered loft bedroom and a secondary reading loft. The cottage includes one ¾ bathroom with shower, sink, and an electric marine toilet. The open concept main floor has a basic kitchen including a full-size fridge, sink, microwave, and 2 induction burners, and the living room has seating for four, a sofa bed, air conditioning, and a TV equipped with Bell FibreOp and movie channels. Outside, you can BBQ under the covered porch or relax on the attached 380 square foot deck.

The review rumors are true…Gordon is a legend. We so enjoyed our stay. Super close to town while still getting to enjoy nature. Ridiculously clean. Enjoyed the seals that come out in the evening. Gordon took us out on a boat ride up to town. You should stay here.

Ketch Cottage is an awesome place on the LaHave River, NS. We enjoyed watching the sunrise and the river having a morning coffee, or a glass of wine on the dock in the evening. Other things to do Kayak, float, swim or have a fire.
We travel so we bring everything you would when renting. We were surprised that we could have left everything at home. Gordan the owner and host has made sure Ketch Cottage has everything you need and more both inside and outside. Gordon has covered every detail and then some. All you need are your cloths and groceries and enjoy!
Gordon is an awesome host and goes out of his way to make sure you feel at home and welcome. If you need anything, just ask and he will take care of your request.

The saying “Life is good” captures the moment you walk on the houseboat dock and take in the views of Ketch Cottage. Gordon thought of everything that a guest might need in order to just sit back and relax. It was clear that our satisfaction was his number one priority. The cottage is clean and tastefully decorated. It was a perfect size for the two of us. We will be back!

We loved our stay! The cottage has everything you could ever need and it looked exactly like the photos. The place was also spotlessly clean. It's the perfect spot to relax and watch the river go by - so peaceful. We also swam off the deck and the water was warm. The cottage is close to Bridgewater and also not far from some great local bakeries and beaches. Gordon is a wonderful host, and took us for a boat ride to Bridgewater and back one evening. Thank you for a terrific stay, Gordon. We hope to be back in future!

Just what we needed, peaceful and relaxing!
Couldn’t have been better! Ketch Cottage was well equipped with everything we needed and had lots of lovely touches, including kayaks and paddleboards. Gordon was a perfect host, greated us on our arrival and was available if needed. We enjoyed the beautiful evening and morning views of the LeHave and visited some of what the area had to offer. From Sainte Famille Winery, LaHave Bakery, Artesian shops and a local market offering fresh vegetables, baked goods and pottery. We would definitely stay there again!

So relaxing!!!
We really needed this relaxing escape. The atmosphere was so peaceful and the view from the cottage was stunning. We watched the sun rise in the morning and listened to the loons and gentle nature sounds at night. We swam off the deck and kayaked. Gordon was a fantastic host and took us on a river boat ride under the harvest moon. The cottage is spotless and quaint and has all the amenities you need. No detail is overlooked. We were so sad to leave and are already planning a longer return trip next year.

The property is bright and clean. Very well appointed with all modern fixtures. Surprisingly large interior, wonderful use of space. The host provided everything we needed and very attentive to any questions we had and even came out in the torrential rain to fix an unforeseen problem.( The stairs are a little tricky for anyone with limited mobility but a minor issue. ) Beautiful property right in the water, we hope to come back next year!!
