Whale Song provides a dramatic setting on the ocean bluff with awesome views of surf, sunsets and Pt. Cabrillo Light House - with three bedrooms (2 kings, 1 queen), two full baths, and just four miles from Mendocino. Can it get much better than this?
There’s a large, expansive deck overlooking the surging ocean with the bluff edge just 25 feet away, a small cove and the lighthouse across the Bay, and - for those indulgent moments - a hot tub.
Just sit back, relax, and marvel in the views.
Whale Song is within walking distance to the State preserve surrounding the Lighthouse and it’s only a half-mile walk to the Caspar Beach. A great getaway... but you'll have to share Whale Song with feathered friends – songbirds, gulls and geese. Because of the cliff front location there is a minimum age of 10 years and over required for any guest.
Although Whale Song is pet friendly, please note that it is limited to dogs only with a maximum number of no more than 2.

Whale Song is our favorite place in Mendocino. We love the location; we love the house. My husband and I were fortunate enough to be able to rent Whale Song for our Anniversary. It's always booked because the house is so wonderful. We were able to stay a week this time and it was fabulous. The weather was clear and sunny every day. The big picture windows give awesome views from crashing waves to the ocean and beyond. Sunsets are breathtaking. The kitchen is great with all the necessary appliances. The entire house was very clean and comfortable. 3bd/2ba is way more than my husband & I need. But location, location, location is everything! This house has everything! Can't wait to return again.

We always enjoy staying at this home. It is well equipped and very clean, and the view is great. Our only issue was that the hot tub was not working properly. We did report it and the staff responded quickly. Hopefully it will be fixed for the next guests.

Perfect for adults and perhaps older children. Only two minor downsides: only one bedside light in master bedroom and the kitchen plate ware and utensils could use an upgrading.

Location is perfect to Mendocino, Fort Bragg, rec areas. View is priceless. No way to ocean as on cliff. Could’ve used some shade in backyard area and option to use garage. Not a lot of lighting outside back. Hot tub not secluded from neighbors (broken during stay anyway). Kitchen well stocked, cleanliness perfect where you need it (some cobwebs but who doesn’t have them). Master Bed SUPER soft, 1 liked it & other had sore back for remainder of stay. Perfect fenced yard for our 28 lb dog. Neighborhood deer visit each morning/dusk. Megan in office was fantastic! Personalized notes st house for us too.

This property was amazing. Ample windows and a nice deck for watching the waves crash over the rocks. The grounds were well manicured and the house was well appointed with everything you need for a relaxing stay. Even our dog had a crate designated specially for her.
the furnishings were very comfortable and there were plenty of towels, pillows, blankets, firewood....the list goes on! I highly recommend this property for any length of time. It's between Mendocino and Fort Bragg. Plenty to do, or do nothing but enjoy the scenery. Four days was not enough!!!

There are a number of broken things that we need to be repaired that never get repaired, though they are not big deals. We managed to dodge the weather to stay here for 2 nights on our way up Scenic HWY 1. The view from the house is stunning! It took me a moment to become comfortable with the cliffside, however if you and your family observe the signage and use common sense, t would never be an issue. We saw whales, the lighthouse next door, lots of wildlife to spot and birds to see. We wished we could have allowed more time here to enjoy this beautiful property. Our hightlights to recommend - The Russian Gulch Trail (less than 1 mi away), easy walking and much to see. Dining in Mendocino - Good Life Cafe - wish we could go back and have one more cookie. Best breakfast in a long time. Trillium, will need reservation- unique , fresh wonderful dinner. Luna Trattoria, also do reservations, was wonderful Italian, carbonara -perfect. Visit to lighthouse. At the house - hot tub was great and views spectacular!

This house has one of the best ocean views, with waves crashing against the rocks and a good view to the lighthouse. A fantastic week on the coast with an unparalleled view from the porch and the living area. We'll be coming here for many years to refresh, relax, and renew. Some great reading nooks throughout the house. Not too far from "anything" in the area and just isolated enough to feel like you're the only ones around. Morning and evening walks around the neighborhood were great and everyone was very friendly. Excellent WiFi and TV support (we all know we need that...) The only disappointment we had was that all the wood was damp - not quite ready to burn (even though stored in the garage) and it made fires difficult to light and keep going. In January, its kind of a necessity :/ Still the best house rental we've had over the last several years and have already re-booked for next year.

The view of the ocean from this property is spectacular. the house is well maintained and tastefully decorated. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. The only down side (and really just a learning curve on our part) is you have to close the blinds in the master bedroom. Not for privacy but the light house on the next point flashes right in.
