About this cottage rental
Set 1,000 ft. off the main road, our cottage is nestled in the middle of 18 acres of private woodlands, yet 1/2 mile from Rt.195. This single family, 2 bedroom 1,500 sq.ft cottage offers complete privacy. 18 ft peaked ceilings throughout the 1st floor.. living area/dining area , galley kitchen, main bedroom and bath. The cottage is surrounded by dense woodlands with wild turkeys, deer, turtles and other wildlife. There's also a short walking path into the woods, leading to my 1,300 tree dwarf cider apple/asian pear orchard.. This is a single family home and the renter is the only occupant. There's an outdoor grill, large covered fireplace, and hammock for use. Two bedrooms sleep 4. The second bedroom is via the (narrow)spiral stairs to a LOWER walkout level with direct outdoor walk-out access. Two night minimum stay. No parties. The cottage is professionally cleaned to my high standards. Additional disinfectants are available for your convenience.
Please note: if you smoke indoors you will lose your deposit. Theres 18 acres outdoors to enjoy a smoke. Everything indoors must be cleaned and washed when it smells of smoke. Also, the map makes the cottage look like it's in the breakdown lane of Rt.195
It's at least 1,000ft away and dense woods between. This property is friendly to ALL loving people! If you're not open to every walk of life then please move on.. This is New England and we are a progressive society and proud of it. There is no room for hatred here. We welcome all but hatred.

This most definitely was a 10/10 stay. Great communication, accuracy of the listing was on point. The cottage was incredibly comfortable, quiet, perfect for a relaxing get away. The host didn’t miss any detail! The grounds were beautiful. We will definitely stay here again and highly recommend this cottage!

This “cottage” is roomy, well-appointed, and sits within a large property. Gardeners will love the beautiful perennials that surround the house It’s easy to find and you are truly in the woods. But you are not! Bristol, Newport, Providence, are all short drives and there are many fine restaurants & attractions nearby. We spent our downtime relaxing in the comfortable living room and on the decks, enjoying the owners’ creative flair that is evident from the decor, art work and books. It boasts a well-equipped kitchen and many thanks for the thoughtful amenities the host provides. Highly recommended and we hope to visit again.

The cottage is very cute and welcoming. The Host Gary thought of everything to meet anyone's needs. He is also very quick to respond to questions. Even a bowl of candy at the table. Grounds are beautiful and feels like you have the woods to yourself. My 27 year old son kept calling it a wizards house as he kept seeing new things and the lush greens surrounding it make it very special. Amazing seating areas outside. I was sorry our stay was only 2 nights so we didn't get to do alot of outdoor relaxing. The one challenge was bedding as we had seen three beds online and there were only two. But we worked around it. Beds are firm mattress so be aware of that if you need very soft mattress. The spiral staircase is unique to the downstairs basement it is pretty but narrow. Kitchen is fully stocked. We had a great night making pizza Saturday night. Friday night we had a delicious dinner at DeWolf Tavern thanks to Gary's suggestion. Also, we found The Icecream Farm amazing icecream!!! Even had grapenut which is rare. We had rain and thunderstorms both days, but great areas for family game night and a large tv. Outside fire place has a covering so nice to sit by fire in evening watching the rain. I recommend this adorable cottage for a great getaway.

The house was amazing! Anything that was needed was there plus so much more. The gardens and walkways as well as seating areas were so great. Weather wasn’t the best at times but so many outdoor areas to sit in despite the weather. Gary was so easy to communicate with. He offered several places to eat at. We enjoyed the ones that we tried. Will definitely go back again!!!

This cottage was a perfect location for all the places we wanted to see. It was in a secluded wooded area but still close to the highway. The check in and out was easy. The cottage had a warm welcoming feel and was very clean. I don't think you will find another VRBO that is as well stocked as this one. It had everything you could need .We enjoyed relaxing by the outside fireplace. Gary is quick to answer any questions you have or give recommendations for things to see. Highly recommend!!!

This cozy cottage was perfect for the 4 of us ro get away for the weekend. Close enough to enjoy restaurants coffee and shopping. Yet extremely peivate nestled within a small Forrest atmosphere. Quiet and peaceful. I cannot say enough about the owner. He truly cares about your experience at his lovely cottage He gave us suggestions on dining and entertainment in the area and even emailed me to let mw know the upcoming forecast for my stay. It did n9t feel like we were borrowing someone's house. It was extremely welcoming. Honesty we cannot wait to stay again sometime soon.

A wonderful property, perfectly laid out for a couple or family, with tons of books and games and a fully stocked kitchen. It's privately located down a long driveway, surrounded by trees and flowers, with a hammock and outdoor fire area. Gary was responsive and helpful. I really wish we could have stayed longer!

Close to many things, yet in a quiet spot. Small kitchen, but with every cooking apparatus you can think of. A very pleasant stay.

Can't say enough about how nice this was. Feels like being in the middle of nowhere but it's 3 minutes from CVS, Dunkin, liquor store and less than 15 mins from Providence. Fall River and Newport were also quick drives. The kitchen has literally everything you could possibly need, plus a great gas range to cook on. Bed and bedding were very comfortable. Place was immaculate and handsomely decorated for the Christmas season. Everything functioned the way it was supposed to. Communications and instructions from Gary were prompt and thorough. Place looks like it would be even more fun in the spring or summer given how nice the outdoor space was set up. We will stay again!

This was the perfect cozy house for us. We stayed four nights. It was quiet, secluded and hidden from the main road. Yet it was 30 minutes from Rhode Island and other places of interest. Gary was a great host and provided suggestions on restaurants and history of Swansea. The house had everything we needed and more. We would definitely recommend staying here.

Gary was great to deal with from the very beginning. He responded quickly to any questions and offered helpful information about the house, things to do in the area, and his recommendations for restaurants. The property and the house were amazing! The pictures do not do them justice. The house is more spacious than it looks in the photos. It is beautifully decorated and so comfortable and cozy. The kitchen, and the house in general, are extremely well stocked with anything you could possibly need- you can pack lightly because Gary has thought of everything! The house is in a lovely wooded area, but you are just minutes away from restaurants, shops, etc. Very close to Providence which has a lot to offer as well. I wish we had been able to stay longer! Thank you Gary for a wonderful family weekend getaway!

I cannot emphasize enough how amazing this stay and experience was altogether - from the cottage itself to the host to the overall ambiance, everything was a 10 out of 10! This location is perfect for a secluded weekend getaway; the scenery was breathtaking, the cottage was so spacious (and completely stocked with anything and everything that we may have needed during our stay), and overall made for a beautiful, quiet, peaceful stay altogether. Gary is truly the most hospitable host I’ve ever encountered; he was always checking to make sure we were well accounted for, went above and beyond by providing household items, necessities, etc, and was so outstanding the entire time we were there! All in all, this was the most perfect stay we’ve had and we definitely plan to come back! Thank you so much for this experience!!

This property is incredible. The house is beautifully decorated and extremely well stocked for all your needs. Communication with Gary is quick, and helpful. The grounds are amazing, too. Peaceful Tranquility
This place was absolutely PERFECT! It is set back just enough to give you an isolated feeling, but it is still close enough to get to different places in no time. The house is well kept and very clean. Also, it is very well stocked. There were so many neat kitchen gadgets. I added some things to my list for my own home. The yard is peaceful and beautiful. The hammock was a nice place to take a nap. The orchard in the back of the property was worthy of daily walks to view it. We saw deer on the property, which was an added bonus. Gary was very responsive to text messages and very helpful in giving tips for the area. We totally loved our stay here and would stay here again in a heartbeat! If you are going to be in the area, stay here!

The house was a great place to spend a couple of days. Located in a tucked away wooded environment yet convenient to any and all stores and restaurants. 2 great fireplaces (1 inside and 1 outside) that gave the place a welcoming and homey feel to it.

Exactly what we we’re looking for! Quaint and cozy cottage with a fireplace! Gary was a wonderful host! Always available and recommended a great restaurant for dinner. If you’re looking to unwind and relax, I highly recommend this place. We will be coming back in the Spring for sure!

We had a wonderful stay. It felt like an extension of home. Gary thinks of all the little things and was a great host. The home is decorated nicely. It is a great place to get away and enjoy the area.

Relaxing Getaway
My husband and I stayed here last October and we were so exciter to go back this year. Everything was how we remembered it. The house was very clean and Gary was available for any questions we had. We spent most of our time outside at the fire.

We stayed a month at Gary’s and enjoyed every minute. Gary is a wonderful and accommodating host, responded to all questions within minutes. And his house is right out of a fairytale! Everything was top of the line, from the linens to the cookware. The property was immaculate and beautiful. In the middle of the woods, but close to everything! Can’t wait to return!

This property is amazing! The cottage is perfect, set in a beautiful, private location. Gary was a perfect host, and all about making your stay enjoyable. He was very responsive to our messages, and gave us many tips on local things to do, and the best places to find fresh produce and seafood. The cottage is beautifully decorated inside, the kitchen is well equipped with everything you could ever need. We took advantage of the outdoor seating areas, and the outdoor fireplace every evening. We definitely recommend this 5 star property.

Having read the reviews and looked at the property, we knew we were in for a treat, and that is an understatement. First, as others have said, Gary is a perfect host. Incredibly responsive, and has clearly thought through many details that help make your stay as enjoyable as possible. It's obvious he is focused on the enjoyment and comfort of his guests. If you are lucky enough to stay here and you don't have a great time, trust me it's you, not Gary or the cottage.
And what a cottage. Wow. Relaxed from the moment we drove up. Beautiful wooded setting. Tulips surrounding the entry to the cottage, almost ready to bloom. Seeing the standalone covered fireplace deck, knowing we'll be there later for sure.
OK, so here's the detail. Location is great. Yeah, 195 is there in the background, but not bad. The house is two levels. When I saw the spiral staircase in the pics I thought it went to a loft. Instead it leads to the finished basement. The main floor features massive cathedrals. The kitchen is small and galley-like, but trust me when I say it works perfectly AND you will have everything you need if you wish to cook. EVERYTHING. Every time we needed something, we'd look around and go "There it is". Became a bit of a game.
Living room is spacious. Loveseat and a couple of chairs. Table for four. Most everything seems to be geared towards four adults, but plenty of space. Fireplace is perfect. One small toilet is located in the entry area (so yeah...3 toilets)
Main bedroom is massive, as is the attached bath. Everything we saw and touched seemed to be more towards the high end of quality. The main bed was very firm...my wife loved it but for me I prefer a bit softer. The bed downstairs was more to my liking. There's not much downstairs except a small sitting area and the other bedroom, with a shower and toilet.
You can walk the road on the property. The cottage is situated about halfway. If you keep going on the road it heads to 195 and the orchard. If you walked the entire road one way and then back, it's under a mile. We would walk almost every day, but it rained near the end and the walking was not easy after that.
As mentioned, the outdoor fire deck is detached. Right near the house though. Beautiful place to sit and relax, but I suggest insect spray during any warmer months.
All in all a great place to RELAX.
