Beautiful place but not very convenient.

Beautiful place and grounds and very clean.

Floors are very noisy (but to be expected of such an old building). parking is limited and they don’t reserve a section for Hotel guests so it was cumbersome to bring the luggage from the car.

has a lot of potential, could do with modernisation and a refresh of the restaurant could be a really special place

monastery has a lot of cool places to explore eg hidden courtyards etc

it’s clear they are having trouble maintaining it all - it felt a bit like a dusty museum. most of the guests also were quite old my husband and I felt we were surrounded by people of our grandparents age which is not a problem but it made us feel like we had aged a lot. dinner at the restaurant was really not great, we ordered the local recommendation for the cod and it had no flavour, none of the other dishes did either.

I would return in a second. Truly wonderful place.

This place is amazing. but what makes it extra special is the staff. they are the best - super friendly and helpful. we had a couple of problems ( no one’s fault) that they solved with tact and efficiency. I truly felt a part of the family. The food was great, the rooms very comfortable, and. the grounds were beautiful. I liked it so much we extended a day and I wished we could have stayed longer.

my only concern was the entrances to the wheelchair ramps which were a little too abrupt. there were ramps wherever needed however. while the stair seat at the entrance wasn’t working they helped me up the stairs and carried up my cart. they were wonderful about helping me.

Pousadas are a Portuguese gift to the traveller.

The location and chance to stay in a beautiful old monastery cannot be beaten. Staff were efficient and friendly and our pooch was made to feel welcome — a rarity in Portugal

The restaurant should stick to Portuguese classics rather than Italian, or at least avail themselves of a youtube tutorial on how to cook/serve pasta. You can call it ‘esparguete’ or ‘massa’, but pasta it always is. There is no excuse for spaghetti alla carbonara with cream in 2023!

Superb

The staff was outstanding in courtesy, attention to the client well beyond the line of duty. Remarkable! Breakfast was very good. The room had some space limitations but, other than that, it was quite satisfactory. The surroundings in the estate are wonderful with woods and varied vegetation.

Believe it or not, there's nothing one could point out as unsatisfactory.

Very good

Our room was atmospheric and comfortable, overlooking the garden and simply, but tastefully, furnished. It was just steps to the beautiful public spaces of the hotel. A shared veranda with a fountain and tiled walls was perfect for watching the sun set.

Our dinner in the restaurant was good, but not exceptional. Portuguese wines, always delicious, were overpriced.

I was impressed by the hotel from the first glance))

The territory of the hotel is amazing!! Totally worth to walk around. The hotel itself is like a museum too) The personnel speaks English (that is rare in Portugal) and very polite. The bar with fireplace at cool night is very cozy and quiet. In the room we found chocolates, some fruit and flowers - so many nice surprises)) We could see the whole city from above from our room window on the 5th floor - amazing view! I absolutely loved the hotel)

The breakfast was very basic in terms of variety of food. Could have been more fresh/cooked vegetables and fruit. And I expected to see the coffee machine, not the instant coffee made in the thermos. But the waitress brought us espresso when we asked for.

Amazing property run by talented staff.

Enormous ancient monastery with beautiful modern upgrades. A world class facility. Staff were very well informed and gracious. Food was gourmet quality.

Some parts of the complex were cool because it’s January and it’s a stone building.

Best place to stay in Guimarães and return again

Absolutely wonderful historic place, beautiful garden, comfortable apartments, delicious dining, cozy atmosphere, cool bar with fireplace, very supportive staff.

Specific lighting in the apartment - when light is on in the bathroom it’s seen from the room so is very inconvenient during the night or morning.

We had a lovely time here and would stay again, they do need more staff though.

The hotel is in a beautiful building that has been beautifully preserved. The rooms were comfortable as were all the public areas. Plenty of parking and great for a quiet relaxing break. Good breakfast.

The staff were polite and curtious but there just wasn't enough staff so you ended up waiting around, for a long time..... Waiting for the reception, waiting for the bar.... waiting for treatments.... The evening meal in the restaurant was poor for the standard of hotel and price.
