Beautiful setting that we enjoyed exploring- walking trails and visiting the horses and seeing Boots. Breakfast was excellent and plentiful. Rooms were very comfortable. Dungeon Bar had great food and drink!
4.4
Beautiful location, quirky building with really friendly staff. Both dinner & breakfast where excellent. Not only is it a castle steeped in character but it is situated on amazing grounds with lovely walks.
This added to the charm for me but there are a lot of stairs & steps. It wasn't off putting for me but the number was unexpected & I didn't see this referenced anywhere when reading up about the castle - not a complaint more of a heads up.

Breakfast could have been fresher
Full irish

It was an amazing room/suite we had, grounds were gorgeous, staff was so kind and helpful, food was amazing! Highly recommend! So special! View from the claw foot bathtub was priceless!
It was tough getting bags up the stairs, but staff will help if you ask!

Beautiful, well taken care of historic property. Enchanting little river running next to the castle. Kristina was a pleasure to chat with.
Bed was not very comfortable, and the sink and shower drained slowly.

we loved this property. cozy . yummy food and great staff .

neat property! great staff, so friendly and helpful. location is peaceful and serene, with great hiking and biking trails. would definitely stay again

Location was good with fine forest walks/bike rides from the hotel
Room was very gloomy - so dark that the lights had to be on even on a bright day. Bed was fine but all other furniture was old, worn and uncomfortable - the couch was missing a leg, curtains flimsy and bathroom ones were stained. Lots of mirrors but only the bathroom one was practical due to the poor lighting. No full length mirror. TV wasn't programmed. Room wasn't serviced after our first night - had to ask for it to be done at 3.30 in the afternoon.
Ate in the Dungeon Bar first evening - another dark, dingy space. Food was poor, staff uninterested. None of the "live music" that was advertised. The restaurant meal, main course, on the second night was better but starter and desserts were mediocre.

Fabulous location but needs maintenance
Could be cleaner

The staff were FAB. So attentive and friendly - couldnt do enough for us.
4.4
location, outdoor activities, walking trails, friendly staff in bars & restaurants, excellent dinner menu
broken window in bedroom, standards have slipped with regards to breakfast (1) buffet offerings quite limited (2) cooked food very bland & appeared to be microwaved. also several areas on corridors had peeling paint/plaster compared to previous occasions we stayed
4.4
The grounds were beautiful and the restaurant was good. The staff was friendly.
The facility and room was way more rustic than the photos online. Our shower was pushing water all over the floor and the hot water didn't work. The staff were nice and helpful, but it was not as 'posh' as the photos online.

Location, staff and service superb, room very spacious and sooo comfortable.

How no matter where you are in the castle you feel like your in a castle. Also bonus cat boots is Soo lovely

breakfast was awful
choice was very limited and the entire cooked breakfast was poisoned with salt. no egg options or porridge/pancakes etc very limited number of croissants. only white toast, not asked if we would like any more toast/ tea. very disappointing.

Lovely place all around. The hotel itself was great in and of itself, but the surrounding grounds were worth exploring as well. Staff was amazingly friendly and efficient. The Dungeon Bar was a great place to have a drink or dinner, or both. Well worth visiting.
Nothing, loved everything.

Great breakfast!
Heater didn't work well so room was cold

The suite we were staying in was exceptional. Beautiful roll top bath. Huge room with exquisite chandeliers. The bed was roomy and comfortable, authentic decor and the whole castle was surprisingly toasty. Food was tasty and we retired to the library bar for a night cap and a quiet read. Beautiful grounds for a walk the next morning completed a perfect stay at this glorious hotel.
Couldn't find any ghosts 😉

this property is so magical and holds so much beauty within the walls . beautiful well kept and decorated to a very high standard . sorry about routine of photos but you have only to look at the outside of this castle to see that beneath these walls lies splendid decor that is only fit for a king and queen !
nothing to comment

Everything! Our favorite stay while in Ireland. The Dungeon Bar had amazing dinner. Also the breakfast in the morning was lovely as was the room gorgeous.
Not really a complaint. If you have trouble with stairs, they have floor rooms with beautiful courtyard entrance. My stage 4 metastatic breast cancer body could do the stairs but very slowly. 😉

The castle, rooms, lounge and bars were awesome! The staff were welcoming and attentive, and pretty entertaining! Highly recommend a stay, make it 2 days if you can, lots to do. Archery and horseriding with Noel was fun group activity, and he was hilarious. Conner was a great host, just what we wanted
4.4
Breakfast was amazing, with all the options one could ask for, including fresh fruit, cereals and pastries as well as a hot, Full Irish breakfast. The room, located off the courtyard, was immense. Although not in the main building, these rooms are over the site of the ancient monastery that was once here and incorporate some of the original walls. The site is beautiful, with forest walks and even a stone circle behind the castle. The room was immense, the tub/shower roomy, the water hot.
Was disappointed at first our room wasn't in the main castle building, but in the end, that was not an issue. The tub is a little hard to get in and out of for short and older people.

The setting was great. Sheets were clean it was a nice castle
Room was really dusty and the lamps had cobwebs.
