This is the 2nd time that we have stayed here, the first being 5 years ago and it is still wonderful. From the moment we arrived to the point of leaving everyone is so friendly and helpful, even down to having Sergei accompany us in taxi back to the train station at Tartu. There is plenty of choice for the delicious breakfast, which is prepared to order. The evening meals are cooked to perfection and the service in the restaurant is excellent and to also have Sven advise on wine is a real treat. We stayed in the Tower Suite, which was spotlessly clean and provided plenty of room for relaxing after our evening meal. The mini bar is well stocked and sensibly priced. The big bed that fills the turret is very comfortable. The Castle has been lovingly restored and has kept many features and its character. The castle grounds around the lake make for an enjoyable walk and the surrounding area outside of the Castle is quiet and it is easy to extend the walk and be out all day. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to visit the museum on this trip but we did have a round of disc golf in the grounds - great fun. We can't wait for our next holiday to Alatskivi Castle.

Absolutely outstanding place! The castle presents itself very good from the outside, but the real value comes inside. You need to see and feel it with your own eyes. Wooden walls, furnitures, carpets, big old style windows and the general "vibe" that you can feel there, really makes it quite a unique experience. There are onnly four rooms for the guests to stay, but trust me we travel alot all around and the room we got on Alatskivi castle was really one of a kind. You could almost feel like you were back in time, where time used to go slower and there were actual peace all around. Very cozy and aesthetic. Night are truly calm and you can rest there. Breakfast delicious!

We had the tower room and it was so much fun to sleep in a round bed!! My husband is two meters tall so some of the ceilings in the room were a little low; but overall we really liked the ambience and the "old" feel of the walls, ceilings, and decorations. We ate in both the restaurant and their pub and enjoyed both meals. The goat cheese butter was amazing!! Swan and his brother Sten made us feel very welcome. Our breakfast was also very good. The castle was interesting and our stay was very special.

If you ever dreamt of being a castle owner, here you can have yours dream come for one night. You'll have a key to front door, breakfast served in a dining hall like you wish and you can have even midnight walk in the huge park around the castle. Castle is basically empty after the museum is closed.
Nothing bad to say about the place!
We had the smallest room of all four, but there was enough space for two (only bed was smaller than normal, only 140cm wide).

We really like it and will definitely go back there next time we are in Tartu. This is a historical place with authentic nature and climate. Breakfast is made specially for you like for king. Museum, Peipus lake, walking trail and nature - all available around.

Location of the furniture. Wardrobe is far from entrance. Tv cannot be seen from sofa.

The stay was an exceptional and unforgettable experience. The rooms are authentic. The breakfast was really good. It was so nice that we could stay with our dog.
All the rooms are on the second floor and there is no lift, so it is problematic for people with health problems and for families with small kids. The windows in the tower room are very small so it is a bit dark inside but it also creates a castle atmosphere :). Our other room was quite hot and we could not keep windows opened at night as there was noise outside (maybe some castle ventilation system).
It would have been nice if we could get a free tour of the museum when staying. The ticket cost is reduced for guest adults but for a family of 2 adults and 2 kids, the price is the same where you get a family ticket as a regular museum visitor or get an adult ticket discount for staying.

Cool tower suite. Delicious breakfast and very good service in castle restaurant-10 points! Food was also very nicely served and delicious.
Lovely and helpful check in lady. Thank you for good tips for the theater experience and parking nearby.
