We head up to the Mendocino coast just about every year and this has been our favorite place yet! It’s very secluded in the woods and yet quite close to Fort Bragg and only 15 minutes from our favorite beaches in Mendocino. The cabin was clean and the bed was SO comfy! I always bring my own pillows and blankets just in case but that was not needed here. They even had beds for our dogs which was so thoughtful. We played fetch with our dogs every AM from the porch while drinking coffee and then did a lap around the property while watching out for all the banana slugs, ha! When we made it back on time in the evening we all set up by the campfire for some wine and smores and it was so peaceful and just perfect. The heat worked great, shower was wonderful, and there was everything we needed in the kitchen to make morning eggs or burritos. I can’t recommend this spot enough! Location, comfort, dog friendliness, just perfect!

My wife and I came to Mendocino area for our “mini-moon” after we just got married. We liked how the Kona Cabin was more secluded and tucked back into the Forrest. It also was only a short drive to Fort Bragg where you could go to a restaurant or grocery store. We enjoyed how much effort our hosts put into making sure our stay was a special one (property was stocked with coffee, creamer, a bottle of local red wine, popcorn, and a welcome card)!
All of the information provided in the cabin was very much appreciated (including local options for recreation, food and groceries). The only thing that could have been better was the insulation in the cabin and pellet stove since the high temps were in the mid 50s degF and lows in the 40s degF during our stay (May 2-May 5). The pellet stove didn't exactly function as the instructions mentioned. The instructions were clear they were slightly inaccurate. Basically not enough wood pellets were loaded during the normal startup sequence to sustain a fire so I had to turn the unit off and back on to make sure enough pellets were loaded. Luckily the hosts did provide an electric heater in the bedroom, which was very helpful.
Even with the minor setback of the pellet stove, it was a very relaxing and enjoyable experience.

This is our third stay at the cabin and we enjoyed our visit. Our 2 small dogs can wander the property off leash and it is generally very quiet. However, the pellet stove can get a bit loud when it is on high fire. The internet connection was very fast and reliable - which has not been the case on some of our stays at other remote locations.

We’ve stayed here a few times over the years and absolutely love it. The cabin is cozy and the kitchen is well-stocked with supplies for making meals.

My husband and I wanted a weekend get away for our anniversary. Somewhere quiet and secluded. The Kona cabin was perfect and everything we were looking for. And it was close to activities and restaurants.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kona cabin. The cabin was cozy, well stocked, and a perfect escape! The cabin is located in a coastal forest, and we loved hiking on the property and the Jackson Stare Forest located nearby. My four year old especially loved the abundant fungi, salamanders, and other life found on the property! We hope to visit Kona cabin again.

I always have a wonderful time at this property. The hosts are awesome people, the cabin is clean and the property is a wooded forest with lots of places to explore.
A perfect evening there involves a local pizza, a movie, a glass of wine and cozy comfies.

Great place to stay. Secluded, quiet little cabin yet close to everything Fort Bragg has to offer. The bed was comfortable. We enjoyed sitting on the porch and by the firepit in the evenings. Lots to explore in the area. The forest is at the back of the property. You can hike right our the front door to see a gorgeous creek, with lush vegetation. Just 5 minutes drive to the beach! So much to see in this area. The beauty of nature never ceases to amaze and it was a treat to stay in the center of it all. The redwood out front is one of the largest we have seen so far.

No usable outdoor area. Almost no water pressure. Lighting was really bad and the house was very dark!

My husband and I are originally from the San Diego area. We recently relocated to Northern and we were looking for recommendations to celebrate our fourth wedding anniversary. Fort Bragg came highly recommended.
It was my first time using Vrbo and I came across Kona Cabin. I really appreciated the good reviews. We were looking for someplace, secluded, private, quiet, and romantic. Kona Cabin fit the bill exactly.
It has everything needed to cook a meal, close enough to town and all activities. It’s the perfect location!
The property itself is remarkable. We brought our dog and explored the area to its fullest. Everything was right outside the front door. One day I walked for over an hour, never seeing another person.
We had fun hiking all the beach areas, touring famous landmarks, hanging out in the little charming town of Mendocino and eating good food in Fort Bragg.
We plan on returning next year!

WOW! Don't just a book by it's cover. This little cabin doesn't look fancy on the outside but what an amazing place. LOVED the wooded, quiet secluded setting with the HUGE Redwood in the yard. Great inside space, extremely clean and comfortable. Well supplied kitchen. Wood pellet stove kept us comfortable for the cooler nights. Very convenient to Ft Bragg and local spots of interest. One of our favorite stays on our 10 day trip to CA from PA! Would definitely stay again if we are ever back in the area.

We come every year…beautiful weather! Cabin is nice and quiet, just what we needed.

As advertised. Full amenities. You really don't need to drive anywhere though the grocery store is a few minutes away. It really quiets down at night.

A wonderful place to reconnect with nature and the family. The cabin is surrounded by beautiful redwoods that make you forget your minutes away from the Beach.

It’s a hidden little spot in the redwoods. Very quiet, clean & cozy. Close enough to town; about a 7 minute drive to the store… We enjoyed ourselves… Thank you!

The cabin lived up to expectations. Great location yet private enough to enjoy a walk in the redwoods with plenty of banana slug sightings!

This was my second stay at Kona Cabin, and like last time, it was a wonderful one. It's so quite and peaceful, you feel like you're in a hidden cabin tucked away in a remote forest, yet you're only a 7-minute drive away from Fort Bragg (and the fabulous Harvest Market). You're also about 50 yards from the front door, along a woooded path, to the boundary line of the Jackson Demonstration State Forest, a huge area of protected old-growth forest and a great place for hiking, wildlife, and solitude.
Then there are the conveniences that make the cabin so comfy: a very effecient (and eco-friendly) pellet stove for heating up the chilly mornings and late evenings, excellent wi-fi coverage, a large screen TV with cable (I brought my own Roku stick to stream my favorite Netflix, Prime, or Apple TV shows), a well-stocked kitchen with all the cooking utensiles you could ask for, two kinds of coffee makers--a Koreg and, for the hardcore coffee fanatics (me), a high-end drip coffee maker and bean grinder for that perfect moring cup of Joe. The bed is very comfortable--I'd forgotten what it was like to fall asleep at night and wake up 8 hours later the next morning refreshed, without a single night-time disturbance. It's really quiet!
But what impressed me most of all, was the generosity and responsiveness of Kona Cabin's gracious owners, which made the stay that much better. My gratitude goes out to them, along with my hopes of returning next year.

What a great cabin!! Location is secluded and super quiet but so close to everything. The cabin is very high quality, everything worked and is updated! The pellet-stove/fireplace was great being synchronized to the thermostat with very little work. The bed and linens are so wonderful and comfy. Wish we could've met Kona. We will bring our little black lab, Zoey, next time for sure...now that we know how welcoming the cabin is for dogs. Great stay and we'll be back next spring. Thank you hosts!!

We really enjoyed our stay in this cozy cabin. Slept so well in the big comfy bed. Took a nice long walk on the beautiful trails right out the back of the property. Sat on the porch and listened to the rain one afternoon. Perfect location! Hope to come back again next year.

We found this cabin to be charming, so comfortable, and with great thought given to every little detail. One would never know that dogs are allowed to stay here, there are no signs of wear and tear and no short cuts taken anywhere. We felt welcomed, appreciated, and reveled in the privacy and quietness. We very much hope to return again!

The Kona cabin is as close to perfect as you can get. Take a hike in the redwoods right out the back door. Feels quiet and secluded but still only 5 minutes from downtown Fort Bragg. The kitchen is well stocked and overall the cabin is well furnished. The owners have taken real care in thinking of their guests needs. Looking forward to staying there again in the future!

We went to the coast, the harbor, Point Arena lighthouse, went on great hike. We had no problems with the house. Full kitchen, we used for breakfast and coffee. They are very open for pets and set up for kids too. All that we left home for a break😁 but then we have adult kids with kids of their own❣️ if you like staying in the forest, it's perfect!

The location of the Kona cabin is wonderful. There are neighboring houses, but you wouldn’t know it with all the redwoods! It was fun to hike and explore the nearby paths. Cabin is close to Fort Bragg and the beach. The beds are comfortable, even the pullout that our son slept on. The kitchen was well stocked and we cooked several meals during our stay. Overall we really enjoyed our stay!

We have stayed at Kona Cabin several times and are never disappointed. Nestled in the pines yet a short drive to the ocean.....Perfect!

This was our second stay at this property. We love that it is in the woods among redwood trees and away from the highway. The cabin was spotless and had everything we would have wanted and more. Fort Bragg is an ideal place to walk along the coast bluffs, hike in the forest, and escape the heat (it was in the low 70's while most of California was in triple digits). We highly recommend this cabin to everyone.
