House was great size & had everything we needed for a 3 family trip in late summer. We didn’t have any issues during our stay. Wish check out time was a little later or flexible, but understand the cleaning of this large house takes time. Booking was easy & mgmt company thorough.
The house is a short walk to swim or watch the sunset at Lake Michigan. About 1 mile walk to town for a bite, brew, or browse of th shops.

The unit has potential…good for large groups, close to town and beach. We were very disappointed with cleanliness especially since property manager (dust and cobwebs under furniture and corners,

It was beautiful and spacious. We all enjoyed the opportunity to enjoy each others company but also have space of our own. The kayaks were fun and the beach was very close! Just a suggestion- would be great to have oven mitts and kitchen towels but otherwise great!

Great location, access to area attractions and amenities--trails, lakefront, dunes, etc.

Short walk to a GREAT beach!! We loved walking up the beach into the town of Glen Arbor in the mornings to get our coffee. House is very roomy. Beds are comfy. Upstairs is huge, it was great for our college age kids. Outdoor area was a bit overgrown and road noise was loud, so we walked down to the beach for most of our outdoor relaxing. Location is a good launching point for visiting all the nearby towns.

It is, as described, a historic property, so do not be disappointed by lack of a modern floor plan or furnishings. Main floor is spacious, and very quiet despite proximity to M22. The upstairs suite was great for two grandsons and their parents. We all enjoyed congregating on the back deck, and the short walk to the Lake was a special feature.

The house is right on M22 but still felt like a cozy getaway. Plenty of space for our large extended family to relax in and out. The kitchen was well stocked and spacious enough for a few cooks to create wonderful meals. Highly recommend it for a large group of older kids and adults.
Matt was a great host and available for questions!

Our family had a fantastic time and this house was a spacious yet cozy feeling “home base” for beach going, hiking, kayaking, shopping, sightseeing and dining!

This home is ideally located for kayaking the Crystal River (across the street). The dune hike is a short drive away. The quaint town of Glen Arbor is less than a mile away. Lake Michigan sunsets are less than 1/2 mile away. Home was very large and had a nice set up with a hangout space upstairs

We had a great time at Barefootin on 22! The Great Granddaughters loved the upstairs bedroom.
Close to all the quaint little towns to explore.

Reviewer Comments:
The curb appeal is lacking and is on a fairly busy road. However, once you start enjoying the house it makes up for location. The 10 friends enjoyed the very large living and dining areas. The kitchen and baths have been updated; watch your balance on the shower tiled floors though. The owner was very responsive and brought over a new toaster and coffee pot the day after we reported it. Management was very responsive also. Would recommend this house for a large group.

This lovely home, it’s garden and the short walk to the beach made for a relaxing and connecting family weekend. The kids played cards, croquet, laid in the sun and cooked some great meals on the grill. We walked our dogs to the beach at least twice a day and were surprised at how quiet it was. We did lots of swimming. House is charming and would accommodate more than our group of 8 easily. Access to town by kayak was a wonderful surprise. We made many happy memories there and would highly recommend.

Family gathering
We had a family gathering of a large group ranging from age 19-82. The property was perfect! We all were able to gather comfortably, yet not feel like we were on top of one another.
The house is spacious and offers a lot of outdoor areas to accommodate everyone!
The short walk down the road to Lake Michigan became our evening ritual to watch the sunset! The house is in an area so close to so many great things which allowed everyone in our group to fill their days.
I would highly recommend this beautiful historic home!

If you want to be close to Glen Arbor, this it the place. It's a little close to the road and can be just a tad noisy during the night, the occasional truck will go by, but it's not bad. It's definitely old inside, but not run down, just vintage looking. Everything works well, it's clean, ac works.

Home Away From Home
I cannot say enough good things about this place. THE LOCATION!!! It's a 5 minute walk down our street to lake Michigan, the river across the street you can kayak, and a 15 minute walk to town. The house is amazing and so much space for 12 people. We came here for our friends birthday and it was the perfect place for us to all be together. We will absolutely be back

Our family has stayed in this vacation rental for the last 5 years for a week out of every year. It has been great overall and plenty of space for us. We definitely have enjoyed it. However, this year we realized that the management company charges a different amount every year. For example, there was a span of $1500 to $1000 difference from year to year. Although part of this was our fault for not paying closer attention, it does not make sense (nor fair) for consistent loyal guests.

New experience
We have stayed on Glen Lake for many many years but this was the first time we stayed for a week in a property closer to town and not on the lake. Although the house is right on M22 we never felt like the traffic was an issue. We loved the short walk to Lake Michigan and to Glen Arbor and used the kayaks several times during the week to explore the Crystal River. The house is quite large with plenty of space to spread out. Kitchen is well equipped. Would definitely stay again.

Two-family getaway
We stayed with another family; total of 11 people, 7 kids among us. The location was great for access to everything we wanted: easy walk to Lake Michigan, access to Crystal river. Kids loved sleeping all together in the loft and exploring the nooks and crannies of this interesting, charming old house. Kitchen was well-stocked. There was plenty of room for all of us to eat, play and relax.

It is very important to us to stay in downtown Glen Arbor. This little town has everything we ever want for a perfect, relaxing, and rejuvenating vacation. This rental home is wonderfully located. Previous reviewers mention its closeness to a very busy road, and while that's true, the home also borders a Dead End street - which happens to Dead End at Lake Michigan! - and has a nice fence along the busy road. The car/traffic presence did not bother me. The home is very large, and the bathrooms were fantastically clean with hot hot water and great water pressure. The management company provides plenty of bath towels and washcloths. The bedrooms all had great comforters and lighting and window treatments. The tv station options weren't vast, but the tvs were very nice. We had a great stay, and would certainly rent this home again.

Family Vacation
We had an amazing time at the property. The teens loved hanging out upstairs. It was a quick easy walk to the lake. The mix of new and old made the house so neat. Perfect amount of room. Couldn't of picked a better location for our vacation.

Return to M22
It’s been 6 years since our last family trip to Glen Arbor. This house was bigger than we expected and worked well for our group. We liked the short walk to the beach and playing bags and croquet in the yard. We both drove and walked into town.
We also made frequent use of the kayaks.
We won’t wait another six years to come back!
