“Simply the best. Better than all the rest”. Amazing place. Absolutely stunning. Very friendly and helpful staff.

The facilities, the location, the staff was amazing. It’s like living in a museum. Just absolutely fantastic in every way. Super nice restaurants within 5 or 10 minutes walk and also a short walk to the beach at the lake.
Nothing I didn’t like

Amazing place, a living art gallery and museum. A really special experience. Also the town of Bolsena and the lake were wonderful.

An absolutely remarkable abode , that we have been lucky enough to stay in. This elegant palace is off the rating scale. So beautifully appointed with astonishing quality. It is as though one is staying in a museum. The most comfortable bed, warmth in welcome and in heating. Sumptuous in every way.

This place is so spectacular. Not to be missed. This place is such good value. The decor is so on keeping with its baronial past.
The communication was great.
We were allowed to keep our bikes inside in a store.
I was a little confused at the entrance as to what is the entrance. Such a minor complaint.

If you are staying in Bolsena, I really recommend staying here. It's very centrally located. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. The property is unique, luxurious, and comfortable. Such a treat to stay in a place with so much well preserved history.
I was able to leave my bag near the enoteca (on the floor below the hotel check-in desk) for a couple hours after checking out, and I had no problems whatsoever. But I would have preferred the hotel itself to offer a more secure location for luggage storage.

The structure itself was wonderful, you feel like you are stepping into a part of history. The architecture was very regal and was unique compared to your standard hotel in that respect. The staff were also friendly and the position of the castle is close to everything you need in Bolsena.
Nothing we disliked, only negative was that the restaurant was closed, but that wasn't much of an issue as there are various places to dine at in the town.

It's logical (but not impossible) not to have an elevator in an ancient 4 story hotel which doubles as a historical museum, for which I would give 5 stars. But the hotel seems to position itself at least as a 4 star hotel, perhaps higher. I'd give it 3 stars at best.
There are 32 steps up from hotel entrance to reception on the first floor. Although the stairway is at least 2 meters wide, it seems incomprehensible that there are no wall-mounted rails (or even a rope which did exist on another narrow interior stairway) to assist with the ascending process to reach the reception level, as well as for higher floors. The dining room was not open for dinner, despite having been advised otherwise, except for Mondays. Breakfast was specified for us at 8:45 first morning; 8:30 second morning. When asking reason for this, was informed "a tour group takes up the entire space at other times.". The bathroom lighting was ineffective at best. Bed was comfortable.

This place is absolutely astonishing, even more If you are passionate of frescos and mural, beauty and elegance.
The palazzo is in the center of the little town of Bolsena, facing a typical Italian square with characteristic "botteghe" on one side and a gracious narrow allay that leads you to the castle on the other.
Our room was wonderfully decorated by artist and architect Andrea galeotti and it was very suggestive. We specifically asked for this room during the booking and the stuff was very accommodating with our request which we appreciated quite a lot.
Not the best if you are in a road trip or without a precise schedule on your travel because here the checkin is adamantly until 19:30 and there are no exceptions, you can't absolutely be late.

Feels like a museum, with rented rooms to pay for the maintenance works.
Bed covers not sufficient for the season, no heating in the bathroom . Should have a comfortable room/area for reading or taking a tea or coffee for sitting and not just for watching.

Amazing Palazzio, it is nice that you can walk around freely
To early check-out time - when you reserve your room, you will not get the one that was on the photo

Perfect central location in very historic palace. Right at the entrance of the castle, in the medieval center, and about 5 minute walk to the lake. Very nice staff.
We got two bedrooms and one of them did not have Air Conditioning. We know about it before our arrival. However, they gave us a fan which helped a bit. The room without AC is right on the main piazza. The night when we slept here it was very loud and hot. So we had to decide whether to keep our windows shut to reduce noise, but be hot, or sleep with open windows and deal with the noise.

The unique experience of staying in a palace and getting the feel of what life living in that class. Beautifully appointed.
My only regret is that the staff is adamant at 2.00pm checkin, I am walking the Via Francignia, I walk early because of the heat, arrived at 10.30, after 5 hours walking, and had to sit around until 2.00pm. I then left the next morning at 5.30am so not much time to enjoy the experience.

The location in the historic part of town is great. Easy access to restaurants and shops.
The restaurant "Sala della Comitissa," co-located but not owned by the hotel, is fantastic! It is an experience, not for a quick meal. The sommelier was very knowledgeable, approachable, and took our preferences into consideration. He chose a lovely bottle of wine to go with our dinner. The food was impeccable, especially the steak tartare and cod dish.
Guests were not allowed to sit in the common rooms which were the prettiest part of the hotel. Also, the most spectacular room previewed online didn't seem to be open. Perhaps if you rented the headsets you were allowed to see it but not sure.
The hotel has great potential if the attention to detail is increased, both in service and upkeep.
The breakfast was for a set time and you could pick either 8:30 a.m. or 9:00 a.m. Average breakfast, store bought cakes, no hot items not even boiled eggs. When I asked for a second cup of coffee it was only grudgingly given. My husband and I were afraid to ask for anything else after that.

Loved the atmosphere, the history and the welcome on premises and before that. We asked on the day before arrival to reserve shade and beds at the lake and they sorted it all in no time, when we arrived they were waiting for us in a personal and very welcoming way.
The shifts for breakfast are not encouraging and we decided to not take the breakfast.
It is a pity that windows are not opened at night to keep place cool.

The Enteriour is incredible! Felt like a Princess in former times...good location, in the middle of the town, lake in walking distance.
