About this house rental
As Lake Placid Club grew from its inception in 1895, it experienced many expansive changes. At it's height, the private club included 6,000 acres in an extensive development of accommodations, recreation facilities, service buildings, farmland and forest. In the early part of the 1900s certain members of the club were no longer satisfied with the hotel-like accommodations in the large club house. Over time some 40 cottages were built near, but separate from, the main building. Today, fewer than a dozen of these historic buildings remain. Our house, Juniper Cottage, built in 1923, is one of them. The total renovation of the property, completed in July 2005, has been as respectful as possible to the original Juniper and is designed to maximize its secluded forest setting and the variety of mature trees which surround the house.
Juniper has 4 bedrooms each with their own screened in porch and bathroom. The master bedroom has a gas fireplace (gas), queen bed, sitting area with two chairs, and a closet. A second bedroom on the main floor has a queen bed and closet. The third main floor bedroom has two twin beds and a bathroom with whirlpool tub. The fourth bedroom is located down a spiral staircase from the main floor to a walkout lower level. This bedroom has two twin beds and a private bathroom. The laundry room is also downstairs with both a washing machine and dryer.
The living room has a 14 foot cathedral ceiling, great views of the forest and a large stone fireplace. The room is perfect for sitting around the fireplace reading, chatting, watching TV, or listening to music on the Sonos system. Juniper is equipped with an iMac and high speed internet. Want to unplug? Then feel free to read one of the many books at Juniper, play one of the board games or do an old-fashioned jigsaw puzzle.
The galley kitchen is equipped with a refrigerator, gas range and oven, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, microwave and a large selection of dish ware, glassware, pots, pans, utensils, etc. If you prefer to grill, there is a gas grill right outside the front door.
If you come in the winter to ski, we have plenty of room for your equipment. There are racks to hold eight sets of skis. Also, inside the front door is a small, heated mud room with benches and coat racks so you can easily remove your winter clothes and boots without bringing them into the cottage.
There is a small shed near the parking area of Juniper to put garbage and recyclables. And in the back yard there is a hammock for enjoying the good weather and a lean-to in case you want to spend a night outdoors or just enjoy the fire pit in front of it.
Juniper is close (10 minute walk) to town but situated in a private-wooded setting. This allows for privacy when grilling and/or dining outside. Or just when sitting with your family and friends around the outdoor fire pit roasting marshmallows.
From Juniper Cottage you can easily access many activities. It is a short walk or bike ride into town and all that that has to offer including a park, public beach and tennis courts. On the Lake Placid Club grounds there are three golf courses designed by Scots for the Lake Placid Club.
There is access to many hiking (and biking) trails right outside the front door. In the winter, these trails are great for cross country skiing. With a car, skiing at the Whiteface is 15 minutes away. In all seasons, near-by activities and attractions are truly limitless.
For property security, outdoor security cameras are located at the front and rear doors and cover portions of the front and rear yards. Ringing the doorbell on the front door will ring the indoor chime and will send a ring alert to us.

This is a quaint little cabin. Nestled back in the woods. Perfect location for mirror Lake activities. Very close to Lake Placid. Easy walk to anything that you want to do in the town. Super comfortable for our family of seven. We would definitely stay here again on return trips to Lake Placid. Loved it!

This was our fourth time staying at Juniper and it was another great experience. The location is perfect for us, nestled in the woods, but walking distance to town and Mirror Lake. Our four yr old son loves staying at “The Bear House” (his name for it because of the bear in dining area). We look forward to returning next year!

Great little house, cozy, great location.
THEY DO NOT HAVE A HOT TUB.
The jacuzzi bathtub which they advertise as a hot tub cannot be used because there is not enough hot water to fill it.
We always look for properties with a hot tub, and this house lists one as an amenity, but does not have one, and has no evidence of ever having one. Other than that it was a great stay

We had a lovely stay at the juniper cottage. The cottage was clean and had many amenities to utilize. It was in a great location. A short walk to the town and many hiking spots. Our family came together and shared many great memories at the cottage! We would definitely stay here again. Thank you eric and leanne for such a wonderful time.

Juniper cottage is in a terrific location and we walked to almost everything. The decor is Adirondack charm and each room was very comfortable. We entered the cottage earlier than check in as it seemed ready and we were contacted by the owner to have asked for permission to do so, totally understand this. The owner then cancelled the caretaker that apparently checks the cottage one hour prior to our 4pm check in time. Even with a caretaker check, the overall cottage would still have needed a thorough cleaning, both inside and out. The porches were filthy with faces drawn on the screen dirt off one of the bedrooms, dirty cushions and dirty throw rugs, cobwebs and mold. The interior needs some freshening as well especially the small kitchen area. The kitchen was functional with anything you would need but since its small, it would have been nice to not have each cabinet used with the owner's food and supplies. All groceries we purchased needed to be kept in a bin in the family room. Our family spends a lot of time in the Adirondacks each year and we are used to many styles of homes and are not in need of anything fancy. This rental has potential but needs some TLC.

The setting was gorgeous with a fresh snowfall on the surrounding pine trees. Having four bedrooms each with a private bathroom was ideal for our family getaway. Access to the ski area and downtown was ideal. And hosts were very attentive!

The house was very well-equipped, with everything we needed. Nice location, close to everything Lake Placid has to offer. The owners responded immediately when we had a question. The rooms are nice, it’s great having a bathroom adjacent to each bedroom, and it was very quiet. One note - the downstairs twin beds are a little small for tall people.

We had a wonderful stay at Juniper Cottage! The location is perfect ( an easy walk to town) and the cottage is adorable! Everything we needed was provided. It was nice not to have to bring linens and towels and the bedrooms and baths were great. We loved sitting around the firepit. We will definitely be back!

Our group was a mix of friends and family and each bedroom having own bath was great. House was beautiful, contained everything we needed. Wish we had time to use outdoor areas. Very close to town but isolated enough to enjoy the woods. Would rent again and again!!

Perfect vacation in the woods.
We were in Lake Placid for a family wedding with our adult children. The cottage was a great place for us to relax with our family. We had space for together time and space to be by ourselves. The cottage is well decorated, the beds and linens are very comfortable. We enjoyed being away from the hustle and bustle in town, but the cottage is a quick walk to Mirror Lake and town. Overall, great experience.

A Lake Placid Gem
Our two families with tween-aged sons spent four February nights at Juniper, a large Lake Placid Club cottage with a perfect balance of classic Adirondack details and modern amenities. It was the ideal home base for a Whiteface ski weekend. The great room with a stone fireplace, plenty of comfortable seating, and a large dining table was a wonderful place to gather for dinner, games, and watching the Olympics after a day on the mountain. Thank you, Eric and Leanne, for the prompt communication, easy check-in/out, and flexiblity as our plans evolved. We hope to visit again.

Snowy weekend
Great little spot. The kitchen is very small…. can’t be much more than 20sq ft, I would definitely knock down the wall on the one side to open up the area. One of the bedrooms on the main floor with two single beds was very cozy too. I would say place is more for two couples with two kids each versus an 8 adult space. We enjoyed it though!

Adirondack Treasure
We could not have been happier with out weekend staying at Juniper Cottage. Charming , cozy & comfortable for the 6 of us. It would certainly be comfortable for 8 guests with the 4 bedrooms each with their private bathrooms.
We will definitely return!

Lake Placid weekend
We stayed at Juniper Cottage for a ski weekend. It’s conveniently located to Whiteface (15 minutes). It was VERY cold the weekend we went, the fireplace was a plus and there was wood on one of the porches to use. Plenty of extra blankets and it was nice that each bedroom has its own bathroom. Kitchen is a bit small, but adequate. Overall, we loved it and would love to come back in the summer!

Fantastic property, as advertised! Kitchen tight but size preserved to maintain historicity of Lake Placid Club Juniper Cottage. Location also excellent, 2-minutes from Villiage of Lake Placid. Multiple indoor fireplaces and outdoor fire pits. Highly recommend!

Great getaway!
Me and three girlfriends spent a few days at Juniper and had a wonderful time. The place is very cute with plenty of amenities. We loved how each of us could have our own bathroom and the screen in porches. The location was perfect, just a short walk from the Main Street in Lake Placid. Also a short walk from Mirror Lake. I would definitely stay here again if in the area.

Summer vacation in. Lake Placid
Our family ( Grandparents, daughter, son in law and three children..(11, 16, 14) spent four nights at Juniper cottage. My daughter’s family stayed upstairs and my husband and I wound our way down the spiral stairs to the basement. Kudos to the folks in the early 1920s who thought to include a screened poach and bathroom with each bedroom.! The dinning table was a good size and one meal was enjoyed outdoors on the picnic table. We had a rainy week …so just used the fire pit once. The lower lean to and fire pit looked inviting but the rain kept us away. Kitchen was small but we could easily manage . The cottage is an Adirondack treasure but for out family the location was also a bonus. We climbed two high peaks, the boys rode the Iron Man bike route and did long Mt Bike trails in the woods. The ladies ❤️ the closeness to town and shopping!! Our family grows fonder of Lake Placid with each visit. Thank you Eric ( very easy to work with ) and Leanne for sharing your home with us. We left lookinh forward to next year!
