About this house rental
This unit is elegantly designed and is located in the lower portion of this Beautiful lake home located right on Crystal Lake. This is new construction that just got finished in July 2019. This walkout is only steps away from one of the most beautiful lakes in Michigan. It has a Full kitchen with a dish washer, 1 Large Bedroom with a queen with a high quality tempurpedic mattress and a view of the lake right from your bed, and 1 Full Bath, it also has a sofa sleeper that can sleep 1 and a Murphy pull out bed that sleeps up to 2. It also has access to the washer and dryer. It has direct beach access to the lake just steps away from the walkout doors. This home is a Haven for rest and relaxation.
This home is newly built so All guests must be non smokers and non vapers please! We are sorry but we do not make any exceptions on this as all our guests enjoy the benefits of a smoker less place.
This unit is in the lower walkout portion of the home pictured. It is totally separate and has its own living quarters. The owners will be in the upper part of the home and sharing the beautiful sandy beach. When the owners are present, guests will be more than welcome to go for a ride with the owners on their Pontoon boat when opportunity is available. Kayaks and sups are available for guests to use for free.
You will see by the pictures why they call it CRYSTAL LAKE as the water is Crystal clear. This is just like the Caribbean with the aqua blue water and beautiful sandy private beach.
There is an outside shower to rinse off and you can even cook over the open fire on the beach or on the gas BarbQ Grille on the outside patio.
We are located on the south side of Crystal Lake about halfway between Beulah and the DNR boat launch. We are exactly 1 mile from downtown Beulah where you can walk into via the Betsie Valley trail, which is right in front of the house, and get a cup of coffee, ice cream or visit some restaurants or shopping
The Betsie Valley trail is right next to us and you can take a nice walk or ride your bike into town or around the trail system into Frankfort.
* Plz note, the owners do have 2 small Pomeranian dogs which you will see in some of the pictures.** So if you dont like dogs our place is not for you. They dont like other dogs so we are sorry but no other pets are allowed here.
Our home is a smoke free home as we don’t even allow smokers to stay here so there will never be any smell of cigarette smoke at all here!

An absolutely fantastic place to stay. The house is beautiful and the views of the lake are better than you can imagine. Plenty of space to relax and enjoy the lake.
Brian and Cheryl were great, made sure everything was ready for us, check in was super easy, and the most friendly of hosts. My wife and I will be booking with them everytime we are back in the area.

My husband, two kids (14 and 11), and I stayed for 4 nights. We enjoyed the accommodations, as they were just enough for our family of four. Communication with Brian and Cheryl was great. They are living full-time in the top level of this home, so we were able to chat everyday. Our family loved the lake and taking advantage of the paddle boards and kayaks. We spent most of our time on Crystal Lake and on the sandy beach. There's a lovely outdoor shower to clean off from the beach, with hot water! Fresh linens were provided and we had full access to the washer/dryer. The rental is located on the lower level of the full home. It's ADA accessible, if you use the front yard. If you park in the driveway, there's a bit of an incline and open stairs to the bottom level. This worked out just fine for our crew, but for anyone reading with ADA needs, I'd recommend accessing the home from the street side and you'll be a-okay. We'll look forward to visiting again. While there are several positive reviews, if you are looking for a positive experience, I recommend looking elsewhere. Do not let the perfect location and home on the water entice you. The gentleman who you will be communicating with is very harsh and if I could screenshot photos of our texting communication that would say it all. It’s simply not worth the time and energy to spend sharing all the details. He is very warm and welcoming in person but if there’s any hiccups along the way, you will get verbally abused via text message and or phone call. Even though we don’t sleep in, you will hear the family above you starting their day at a very early time. They have two dogs that run laps upstairs starting at about 5:30am. Pay the extra money for a quiet, peaceful stay.

The apartment is nicely decorated and very comfortable with all we needed for our week stay. The owners are friendly, welcoming and very accessible and the beach out front with its fire pit is a great hangout place. It is a very well-cared for property. 😁

Bryan and Cheryl have done an amazing job with this space. It appears brand new and is impeccably clean and furnished. They have a beach in front of the house right across a one lane quiet street. They have lounge chairs, picnic tables, a fire pit, a gas grill, kayaks and beach toys. They invited us to enjoy a glass of wine with them and are incredibly friendly and helpful. This is the best place we have stayed on the VRBO website to date.

The apartment was spectacular. It’s situated right on the south shore of one of the world’s most beautiful lakes-Crystal Lake. Each room has a view of the lake. Many of the cottages around Crystal Lake date back to the 1930s. This cottage and the apartment are basically brand new, modern and all of the finishes were totally updated. The adjoining private beach is the best on the south shore including grills, fire pits, kayaks, floats, dock etc. The owners are cordial and accommodating and ready to help out for any requests. We had a wonderful vacation.

Brian and Sheryl’s property was pristine and you can see their attention to detail throughout the space. This was a perfect stay for our family of four, and the location couldn’t be better. We used the beach, the fire pit, swam in the lake, and enjoyed walking into Beulah for coffee and breakfast. The amenities inside the rental (kitchen, bath, sleeping) are just as well thought out and the layout of the space was perfect. It was also a great location for proximity to the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, Glen Arbor, and Frankfort. We enjoyed meeting the owners and hope to get back to their beautiful property in the future!

We really enjoyed our stay at this little oasis on Crystal Lake…Brian and his wife were very welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. They were gracious enough to take the kids and I out for a boat ride, and put out a floating mat and SUPs for us to use at our leisure…they even grilled dinner and s’mores on the fire for us which was above and beyond. The lake is crystal clear with a beautiful sand beach.
The house has all been redone- very clean, well appointed with great mattresses and comfy reclining couch. We had a blast and can’t wait to visit again.
Location couldn’t be better for exploring Lake Michigan…quick scenic drive less than 15 minutes to Frankfort beach, 20 min to Betsy Lighthouse, 30 min to Sleeping Bear/Glen Arbor…

This was our first time visiting Crystal Lake and this property was the perfect place to stay. The home is absolutely gorgeous inside and out. Has everything you might need including the best view to wake up and go to sleep to. We loved relaxing on the property's beach and splashing in the water. The proximity to town (a short walk) as well as to Frankfort and Sleeping Bear Dunes were a bonus. Lastly, the owner's of the property were so kind and super helpful. They provided multiple recommendations and always were very responsive when we had questions. We can't wait to visit again!

Upon check in the owner's wife saw a pack of cigarettes in my vehicle. Twice I affirmed I was aware of the no smoking on thew property rule. I have stayed at numerous other non smoking properties and have never had an issue. I was on the property for less than 20 minutes. The owner's wife told me I the owner wished to speak to me. I again reaffirmed I was aware of the no smoking rule for this property. The owner told me nobody who smoked or vaped was honorable. I asked how to resolve the issue and he told me I must leave the property immediately. I contacted VRBO to get a refund and they contacted me after speaking to the owner who lied to them and said I had violated the non smoking policy. If you rent this property, you shoulds be aware that the owner believes he has the right to control what you do either on or off his property even if what you are doing is totally legal. You should also be aware that although he believes anyone using tobacco or vpaing in any form is not honorable, he feels no personal need to be honest with VRBO and feels entitled to keep your money although ironically he will return a damage deposit that he says in the listing would be forfeited should you chose to use tobacco on the property. If you keep reading I am sure you will find a triggered and angry response from the property owner which will tell you all need to know.

Our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 teenage boys) stayed at Crystal Haven for a week at the end of July -- it was a great experience! Brian and Cheryl were incredible hosts and the accommodations were perfect! They take great pride in Crystal Haven and it shows. It was the easiest check-in and check-out that we have experienced used VRBO. The swimming/paddle boarding/kayaking was amazing in the crystal clear water on the private beach! And there is so much to do and see in the area...dunes, hiking, kayaking Crystal River, shopping, dining out, mini golf, etc.
We had one of our best vacations here and are keeping it on our list to visit again!! Highly recommend!

Brian and Cheryl were the ultimate hosts; making sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay! They are kind and generous and provide a beautiful place on the Crystal Lake lakefront. Fantastic Lake House
This is easily the best VRBO my family of 4 (kids: 12 & 9 yo) has stayed at. It was easy to unwind with everything we could need already provided. Brian and Cheryl went above and beyond outfitting this space with luxurious pillows and mattresses (best sleep I've had in months) kayaks and SUP boards, and they thought of everything to make their guests quickly feel comfortable. We LOVED roasting hotdogs over the fire pit, watching the sunset from the dock, and paddling in the a.m. This area is really something special and we are already planning our 2023 visit!

Pristine and beautiful
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lakeside home. It was spacious for two and had a beautiful view of Crystal Lake. It occupies the first floor of a new large and beautiful lakefront home. It was pristine and finished beautifully making it truly comfortable to be in the space. We had great access to the property’s wide beach directly across a little one lane road. The beachfront is outfitted with lounge chairs, Adirondack chairs around a fire pit, a dock and lake toys. It’s sandy and easy on bare feet. All clean and really lovely. We built a fire in the fire pit one evening and watched the moon rise over the lake. It was beautiful and serene. This home is a gem and the lake and surrounding area is beautiful to explore. The owners were accessible and lovely. We will be back.

We stayed for 4 nights at this gorgeous property. The views of Crystal lake were amazing! The cottage is very clean and new, the owners were wonderful to work with and very prompt in their response. The amenities that we were able to use just added to the great experience. We would definitely rent again if we are near Frankfort.

Amazing rental on a beautiful lake!
Brian and Cheryl were phenomenal hosts who you can tell truly love sharing their beautiful haven! They were kind and generous and very welcoming to us. The house is absolutely gorgeous and was immaculately clean on arrival, it was perfect for our family of 4. I am a bit of a water snob (I don't like it to taste like anything) and their reverse osmosis water filter was awesome, the water was so good! I usually end up buying bottled water when we stay up north but it was an unexpected bonus that I didn't need to do that! The sandy beach is just steps away from the house and they have everything you need - picnic tables, Adirondack chairs, lounge chairs, beach umbrella, pool noodles, boogie boards, kayaks, SUPs and all the tools you need to cook dinner over the fire. The beach is a little rocky upon entry so you can bring water shoes, or just enter off the dock into the sand. The lake is stunning - so clear and beautiful and has a large shallow area (and was a wonderful temperature when we were there in mid July). The house is located a mile away from the downtown area of Beulah - it was an easy walk or bike ride away from a lovely cafe, a few restaurants and shops. Truly a great location. We would definitely stay here again!

Quiet getaway
We (includes 2 adults, 1 teen, 1child) had a marvelous time at this location. We were looking for a quiet place in between lots of gorgeous locations. It was wonderful to either stay on property with all the offered amenities (kayak, SUPB, floating mat, nice beach, fire-pit, clear water) or within easy reach to Sleeping Bear Dunes, Glen Arbor, Frankfort, Empire, or Traverse City. Brian and Cheryl were very welcoming and keep a very clean, and comfortable house. The kids both slept on the Murphy bed and slept soundly. The other bed was just as comfortable for us. I would highly recommend this wonderful place for others. We had an awesome time!

This lake house property was just awesome, and the lake, itself, did not disappoint - very beautiful! Great lakefront location with very nice amenities and furnishings. Our family very much enjoyed our stay, and Brian and Cheryl were tremendous hosts. We only wish we could’ve stayed longer, and will definitely keep this rental in mind if we come back to NW Michigan.

RENTERS BEWARE
My husband and I went into this vacation very excited. We are two registered nurses from Columbus who just got through working throughout the pandemic with three young children. We are long time renters of VRBO who have never made a complaint or had a complaint made against us. As soon as we arrived to the property there were yellow flags. The owner met us at the door and it was obvious from the start he is very protective of his property, to the point of making us feel uncomfortable. He immediately told us the many “house rules”, watched us from his balcony while we played on the beach, and took pictures of us. He confronted our four year old about the specific spot he got a rock from in the lake and had him return it, and told my husband he needed to put out a cigar he lit across the street, outside at the fire pit on the beach. Be aware that the owners have access to your unit from basement stairs to the laundry room and access it while you’re staying there.
The red flags came shooting out like fireworks on our third evening. We arrived back to the rental at 8pm and heard the owners arguing extremely loudly from outside the home. The violent yelling, screaming and cursing escalated for over an hour and a half when we heard loud crashing sounds that woke up our 1 year old daughter. We were scared for our safety and the safety of the owner’s wife. We were extremely concerned about the direct access they have to our unit and we called the police to report domestic violence. After arriving and assessing for danger, the police provided us with an escort off the property for our protection. We had to scramble to find a place to stay with our 1, 4 and 6 year old for the remaining 5 days of our vacation, which thankfully we did.
He lied to the police, he lied to VRBO (said we left due to bad weather, broke a shelf, said out our children peed on a mattress, and left dishes in the sink to collect on our damage deposit), and he will likely lie about this review.
We read another persons comment about the owner that said: “Do not do business with this snake” and we now unfortunately realize how true it is.
If you value your safety, do not rent this unit from this owner.

Up North Fun & Relaxation
Our summer getaway to Crystal Lake provided lasting memories. Our new friends Brian & Cheryl made us feel right at home in their beautiful setting. We leisurely read books on the sandy waterfront, gazed at the sunset, played cornhole and enjoyed fireside chats late into the night. We kayaked crystal blue water in all directions, tried paddleboards, splashed on the giant floating mat and watched the sunset from Brian's boat. There's a short walk down Betsie trail to Beulah and a short drive to some incredible M-22 hiking trails. In addition to being ultra clean and remarkably comfortable, the new home had all the amenities with a fashionable touch. Our stay on Crystal Lake exceeded our expectations and was everything we could hope for in a family vacation.

The place was perfect for our week long stay - we enjoyed the kayaking, biking and easy hikes right from the house, and there are tons of trails and small picturesque villages and cities short drive away. The house is very tastefully decorated and has everything we needed for cooking and watching the October weather constantly changing over the lake. Brian and Cheryl made us feel welcome. Crystal Haven is a great location. The private beach area might be the nicest one on the entire lake. The unit was the cleanest VRBO we have stayed in and is well furnished. The weather was not good the week we stayed but we made the best out of our time there. We plan to come back again in the future!

Quality property on an outstanding lake as advertised. Everything inside and out is new and clean. Owners are gracious hosts but watch out for their mean corn hole skills.
Nice beach, private dock, great swimming, and if you are a boater, a solid mooring point for your boat. Unexpected luxury is the outside heated shower.

Perfect!
Crystal Haven is spectacular! If I built a lake home myself, it would be exactly like this. My family has gone to Crystal every year for over 20 years and this property is my all time favorite! The house is beautiful, comfortable and very clean. The beach is amazing with just about everything you need to have a great beach vacation. I can’t say enough about the hosts. Brian & Cheryl are welcoming, kind and extremely generous. We will definitely be back!!!
