For those of us who live on the shores of Lake Martin, we see, feel, smell, taste and live the majesty of this beautiful lake. One only has to view its beauty and awesomeness from places like the Kowaliga bridge, the Smith Mountain Fire Tower, the lookout at the Cherokee Ridge Alpine Trail head, and Acapulco Rock to know what a treasure we have in this east-central part of Alabama. If you are a golfer, there is nothing more beautiful than the view from the course at Willow Point. If you are a fisherman, there is nothing more satisfying or peaceful than sitting quietly in a calm slough waiting on the big one to bite; or, if you are a skier or wake boarder, there is plenty of large open water on which to practice your skills. We are truly blessed! I recall that it was said in the 1950s and 1960s that Lake Martin was 99.9% pure and free of harmful chemicals. For many of us, Lake Martin is home, where we have raised families, earned livings, enjoyed the recreation that the lake provides and just enjoyed life. For these and many other reasons, we call Lake Martin a treasure.
In 2010, Governor Bob Riley signed an executive order designating Lake Martin “A Treasured Alabama Lake.” This designation simply put the stamp of approval on what we already knew. Lake Martin was the first Alabama Lake with this distinction. The TAL designation provides a level of protection for generations to come, but it does not unduly restrict development around the lake. It does require strong environmental considerations in the future.

Robin was fantastic, providing advice and assurance should we have any issues, We had zero issues so we didn’t get a chance to bother / test / talk to Robin during our stay, but I am certain any issues would have been addressed efficiently. We loved all the outdoor deck and dock seating areas with a stunning lake backdrop. We enjoyed sunrises, blue sky sunny days, moonlit evenings on the lake and even a day of rain.
All of it was fantastic.
I was concerned we wouldn’t have access to shopping, but the general store is 5 minutes down the road and complete shopping (grocery, hardware, etc.,,) is only 15 minutes away.
We grilled and cooked meals at the house and had a great time doing it,
The house is very well equipped for our grandson (15 mo. ) with high chair, crib, toys and ducks on the lake. He had a blast and spelt through each night.
It’s great having 5 bedrooms on the ground floor so the older couples didn’t need to climb too many stairs.
The game room was great too.
Lots of water toys in the garage were enjoyed by all of us.
It really felt like we were all getting together at our friend’s home. Can’t say enough about the lake, house, host and everyone Alabamian we met along the way.
Go Bears! (Sorry)

This is our third trip to Bayou Lodge. We love it.

This was our third year coming to Bayou Lodge. The property and location are awesome. Robin is awesome and always quick to respond when I have questions or concerns. We have a large group with ages ranging 7 months to 87 years old and it works for all of us. The house is spacious and comfortable - perfect for a large group. The large covered porches, deck and dock are an added bonus as that is where we spend the majority of our time. We love Bayou Lodge and Lake Martin! We can’t wait to return next year!

The property was great! The kitchen was big and there was enough table space for our large family. Having four refrigerators was very helpful since we cooked all our meals. The deck and dock were perfect for the adults to sit on and watch the kids play in the water. The master suite downstairs is awesome! This house is in a cove and it was safe for the kids to be out on the water in canoes and kayaks. We have already booked for next summer.

This is an outstanding vacation home and I would highly recommend the Bayou Lodge. We had 18 of us ranging in age from 1 to 70. Having a boat or renting one is highly recommended as the home has an awesome dock with slips just feet from the house. The owners who live nearby went above and beyond in insuring that our week there was awesome. Made some wonderful memories!

We had 6 families, 23 in total, and no one felt crowded - decks were spacious with lots of seating, game room had so much (kids just loved it) - location was amazing, easy to get to, lots of safe areas for kids to swim, paddle board, and kayak. The kids claimed the fire pit area as “their” dinner place. There was so much seating. Kitchen is incredibly well stocked with glasses and plates. There are three sets of washer/dryers. Two dishwashers in main kitchen ( there are 3 kitchens), so many trash cans including out on porches. We’ve already booked our stay for next year. The ramp to launch boats is less than 5 minutes away. Parking at the house is more than ample. There are 5 refrigerators!! There is a full grocery 10 miles away, a bait shop even closer, an amazing ice cream place and pizza place within 10 minutes. My family will be talking about this trip for years and we are so looking forward to next year. Thank you for this place and allowing us to rent it

There were 16 of us ranging from a 3 month old to an 83 year old. Beautiful setting, lovely and spacious home. We had plenty of room to spread out. The multiple decks and dock area are perfect. There was a breeze all week on the deck, even though the weather was in the 90’s. Our youngest 3-1/2 and 5 made great strides learning to swim and learning to fish. We made great use of the floating rafts, kayaks and canoes. The views overlooking the lake were perfect! Given the opportunity, we will definitely stay there again.

It’s a beautiful home in a great location. Lots of rooms and plenty on 1st floor for older family members. It was a great experience for our family and the host was awesome!!! Everything was very clean and well kept!
Need more bath towels per room. We had to wash frequently. Plan on buying ice. There are only fridge ice makers and only 2 work. They are planning on buying a commercial ice maker which will be perfect!!
GREAT VACATION! GREAT STAY!!

Our family had an absolutely amazing time at the Bayou Lodge! The house is beautiful, the location is perfect, and the atmosphere was fantastic. I can’t say enough great things about it, our kids had so much fun catching bream off the pier, canoeing, kayaking, jumping off chicken rock was such a thrill, tubing all over the lake, jet skiing, and just swimming hanging out. Definitely a 10/10 experience and we look forward to staying again!

The property is amazing and perfect for a large group. The whole house is clean, updated, and relaxing. The new deck and updated seating created such a relaxing atmosphere. We brought our boats and the guys loved the proximity to the lake. This was our second time to stay and, even though we had one little hiccup, Robin was immediately attentive and the rest of the stay was easy!

Our leadership team loves using this space to gather for annual retreat to dream, ideate, and have time for personal reflection. The house is spacious to allow everyone individual space and also space to come together. The home is beautiful and has wonderful views of the lake.
This home would be great for a large family gathering or for team time.
The owners are wonderful to work with and very responsive.
Thank you for your amazing hospitality.

Our family met at Bayou Lodge for Thanksgiving! What a great, big, place to celebrate. This is the perfect place for large groups! We had 17! We enjoyed the lodge and surroundings! Our family pictures turned out great! Loved the entire time there.

This was our second year staying at Bayou Lodge and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We have a large family and some with mobility limitations so having bedrooms on the first floor and minimal steps to the water is a must for our group. We love Lake Martin and plan to come back as often as we can.

Wonderful weekend with old friends! Great house and amenities. Plenty of parking in side lot. Dock, grill, kayaks and fire pit all added to our experience. Easy check in and out process. I would highly recommend this property for larger group gatherings. Everyone had their own room/bathroom. The square footage and accommodations made our stay very comfortable.

The property was perfect for our group! The location was amazing; there was so much both inside and for the adults and kids; the house was spacious; and the owners were so welcoming.

Bayou Lodge and Lake Martin were everything we had hoped for. The home itself was large enough for everyone to enjoy some space but gave us the opportunity to spend quality time together under one roof. The kitchen was better stocked than any rental I've ever seen. From pots, pans, appliances, casserole dishes and utensils to cabinets full of spices we had everything we needed. And Lake Martin itself was beautiful. We were able to rent a boat at a reasonable price (much better than we have seen in Orange Beach) and loved exploring the Lake. The game room kept us busy at night. I can highly recommend both Bayou Lodge and Lake Martin. Robin was extremely responsive answering my pre-trip questions promptly.

Bayou Lodge was just what our large family needed for a vacation. We ranged from age 9 months to 80 plus. Everyone enjoyed the huge home and wonderful area for all water activities. Perfect location without a lot of boat activity. Would highly recommend Bayou Lodge for everyone. Thank you for sharing your home.

This is a great home for families. It is roomy with plenty of bedrooms and living areas. It is beautifully decorated and well stocked with everything you could need. Location is lovely and deck and porch were in use every minute.

We stayed here for our family vacation! 24 of us ranging from 6 months to 82 years old. There were 2 kayaks and 1 paddle board provided which the older kids LOVED. There is also a karaoke machine, pool table and ping pong table that they loved in the game room that kept them occupied. The house itself is beautiful and spacious enough that everyone had their own room and bathroom and we did not feel crowded and right on top of each other. The porch/decks are huge and shaded which is where we spent most of our time. We did have a few issues but Robin was very nice quick to respond and was on top of it. The lake itself was breathtaking and the dock/pier had easy access to get in and out. My only suggestion to renters is bring water shoes bc there are some sharp rocks around the pier and bring extra towels for swimming.
Our family loved it here and we made some beautiful memories, we would like to return in the future.
Thank you Robin and Marty for making that happen!

Bayou Lodge is amazing! Absolutely gorgeous home with ample space for our family of all ages. We especially love the easy access to the dock and swim area, the large porch, the many kitchens and many bedrooms with en-suite baths! We will return. 😊

This space was completely perfect for the size of our family. Everyone had their own bed/bedroom and bathroom, which is such a plus. The accommodations, amenities, access to the lake was perfect. And let’s not forget the welcome basket that put the icing on the cake. Robin was communicative and quick to answer all questions we had. We’re looking forward to staying again!

We had all of our family in for Auburn graduation. This was the perfect spot to celebrate. So much room to spread out and so many sitting areas to gather and catch up with a beautiful lakefront setting. You can’t go wrong here for a large group. We had a ball and Robin was accessible and quick yo respond with any questions!!

A real fun filled relaxing lake weekend. Family ages 1 to 60+ all enjoyed the easy access to lake for swimming and relaxing on the lake. The fire pit was enjoyed every evening as the sun went down and others played corn hole and croquet! We would highly recommend Bayou Lodge for great fun in the sun and a relaxing get away!!

Bayou Lodge is so beautiful any time of the year. We absolutely love this place. A couple of times we were unable to stay at the lodge due to being booked up. My family was so disappointed when we had to stay elsewhere. They always bring up Bayou Lodge when planning get a ways.

Our second time staying here and it did not disappoint. Robin is an amazing host and the house was perfect for our big family. Looking forward to coming back again soon.

This property was HUGE.. Looking at the pictures you can tell it’s spacious but they don’t do the property justice. We took 20 guys and had enough room for everyone and some.. The activity room, den, and even the kitchen/dining room had enough room that all 20 of us could congregate..House was completely stocked up with everything we needed and check in/check out process were super easy.. The deck could easily fit 40 people, so there ample room for the 24 it’s listed for. Expectations were met beyond belief.. Rooms are massive, multiple fridges for use, plenty of grilling and cooking items... Robin the owner was very quick, helpful and transparent in communicating directions and guidelines for the weekend! Already looking at planning a family trip.

The house was a great location for a leadership planning retreat. Everyone had adequate space to spread out and have some down time/quiet time and there was ample space for us all to come together for open discussions; around the gathering table and in the living room.
The views of the lake are amazing.

This home was incredible and extremely accomodating. My wife and I combined families to have a joint Thanksgiving and we could not have been more comfortable. Loved the back deck area, game room and of course living room and dining areas. All bedrooms were great. Ample fridge space for Thanksgiving foods.
10/10 would book again.

We had the very best stay at Bayou Lodge. The hosts were easy to work with and the property was great! The ease of the location and the lake view were perfect for our crew of 24. We relaxed, enjoyed, and had the best time. Robin was a wonderful host and very easy to communicate with. Thank you for a wonderful trip and letting us stay in your home away from home!

We had the best time with family. We had a total of 17 people with us. The house was plenty big and had everything we could ever need. The host is wonderful and easy to communicate with. I would recommend this house to everyone

This property is special. Large enough to fit all the people you love in one place for memory making. We were getting married in the area and needed a big home to house friends and family. This house has everything you need. It’s spacious, well thought out and just stunning. The whole crowd was in awe of the outdoor space and luxurious feel of the home. The game room was a massive hit and guests were always playing pool and table tennis. Amazing and responsive hosts. Our group is already talking about wedding reunions to come and we would love to come here again. Highly highly recommend Bayou Lodge! Thank you so much.

We had a large party consisting of our youngest newborn to our oldest of 82 years. We had ample room and activities both inside and outside to keep everyone entertained. We had a lovely stay.

This was our 4th year coming to Lake Martin. We started with a group of 12 and this year we had 20+ ranging from 5 to 85. Bayou Lodge was perfect for our large group. It is beautiful, well stocked and has great spaces for all ages. The only issue we observed was that the back side of the house & deck (where we spent most of our time) needs to be cleaned as there were cobwebs and debris from the trees that needs to be cleaned off.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Bayou Lodge and have already booked for next year!

50th anniversary/family reunion
Bayou Lodge was so fantastic. Because it was so large, there was a lot of room for every one to spread out. The veranda had a wonderful cross breeze and the deck had a lot of shade. Very comfortable for July. The view is the best. Nothing but trees across the way. The swimming area was perfect for all ages.

Great setup for family of 14
It was as we had expected. We had easy access to the dock, which was shaded in the late afternoon! That was a plus. I was a bit disappointed in the cleanliness, especially the kitchen. The only other complaint was the queen bed in upstairs front part of the house was apparently very uncomfortable for our adult son and wife. They ended up swapping with their child. Otherwise, it is a fantastic house for large families.
