Having the golf cart to get to the beach is so great! Plenty of shops and restaurants just a short drive away.
1.0 / 5.0
This condo is falsely advertised and should not be listed as an exceptional place to stay. None of the pictures on the listing are accurate. Arriving, the house was filthy and smelled of intense mildew. The window AC unit was dirty and looked like
It had mold in it making it unusable. The deck was in complete disrepair, and dangerous with gaping holes that my toddlers leg could easily fit through. There was no Internet. And the day we left while we were in the car, we found out there were no towels, and that the walk to the beach required a golf cart which could be provided for an additional charge. None of this information was provided in the original listing when the booking was made. The chairs for the fire were all broken and unusable.
When I attempted to contact the property manager about the Internet not working, he replied that he would have somebody out the next day to address it. When I tried to address our cleanliness issues and the intense smell of mildew and smoke he stopped replying to my text messages. We never had anybody out to fix the Internet connection.
The beach itself was beautiful. The location about a 10 minute drive from Silver Beach was convenient as we spent all of our time there due to the poor condition of the condo.

Was a perfect place to stay for our family! Our kids are 5 & 7 and they loved being so close to our own private beach and pool! It’s very low key but close to St Joseph and south haven to enjoy eating and shopping as well! We will be back!

We had a great time, we didn't realize the bunk beds were in the bedroom, but that worked out fine. The kitchen was more stocked than we would have expected which was really nice. It was beautiful!

Its a nice condo. A few suggestions:
*provide towels
*be sure to provide check in and check out information on a timely manner

We had a great time! It was much needed time spent with my sister :) The location of the condo is perfect, right between St. Joseph and South Haven with a view of Lake Michigan from the deck/patio area. The condo is on a bluff looking out at Lake Michigan and it's a short walk to the private beach. We took advantage of sitting on the deck for dinner and watching the world go by. When we first entered the condo it appeared to be fairly clean. We did notice a mildew smell. We turned on the dehumidifier, which was also dirty from use and needed to be wiped down. After wiping down the dehumidifier and running it for a couple of hours, the smell went away. We found some of the surfaces were dirty, so we went through and wiped down the countertop, stove, table and bathtub (there was dirt in the tub) that helped a lot with the mildew smell. All in all it was a great weekend getaway with my sister.

Very strong musty/mildew odor when we first arrived to the condo. We hoped it would go away after the a/c and dehumidifier were turned on. We ended up leaving early the next morning due to the strong odor. It made all our clothes smell and the bed linens and pillows smelled. We moved to a hotel for the rest of our stay. Notified the owner as we were leaving @ 8:30 am Sept 30th. Took over 24 hrs to hear back from him and finally onOct 6th received a partial refund.

Beautiful view of the lake from the bluff, access to the beach from the partial paved/landscaping blocks were second to none. Be advised, this is a very steep climb down/up however it was a joy to walk this peaceful space between beach and unit(s). Absolutely loved our time here. We saw black squirrels, American Bald Eagle, Monarch butterflies. This unit does not have a lake view unless you step outside into the yard/parking area but, walking to the bluff for a view of the lake is easy. Parking is numbered so you never worry about finding a parking place.
With that being said, there are some things to consider. The below statement is what we took seriously when reserving this unit:
WE ARE SPENDING EXTRA TIME WITH CLEANING CREWS DUE TO COVID AND SAFETY OF OUR GUESTS.
As we stepped up to the unit/patio, we were met with mildew on rotting deck boards. The deck picture noted on this website is nothing to what you rent/see. A wagon had mildew/black water with a rain-soaked, mildewed cushion in it. Mish-mash of broken water boards/lawn furniture was strewn about. The sliding door lock doesn't work (a door bar is provided). Sliding screen door handle is broken and screen is completely loose at the bottom. The curtain bracket is pulling away from the wall as.
Stepping into unit it smelled of mildew. Floors were filthy dirty. Floor heating units have dirt/film on the top of them. Crayons/remote controls and dirty toys littered a decorative tray on the end table (I cleaned the tray). The kitchen stove top was dirty (I cleaned it). Tony, answered my text the following morning after I sent a second communication however the cleaning lady upon returning, didn't clean except where I pointed out the couple of areas.
Bed comforters are stained and pillows/blankets are very worn. As long as you know ahead of time to bring your own, it shouldn't be a concern. A wooden board with a vent pipe from a floor AC Unit (?) is in the bottom of the bedroom window. Half the closet folding door is missing (Tony stated it had a broken "T" post) but, linens were crammed/stuffed into any available space, broken hangers on the floor. I refolded everything so we would at least see an organized closet.
Such potential but, seems to be getting by on being a fantastic view and access to the beach. Just a day of good cleaning and attention to detail could make this unit perfect but, seems to be ignored for the most part.

My family spent a long weekend at this condo and it was perfect for us. The condo itself was clean and homey. The view of the lake from the deck was a great bonus. The beach access was great. We also rented the golf cart, which I highly recommend, to get down to the beach. The beach was in good condition and very private. All in all, I would highly recommend this property. The owner was great to work and we can't wait to go back!

A Day at Paradise
We enjoyed our stay, steep hill to the beach, golf cart was handy but we only used twice so I thought it was over priced, but we have had knee replacements & the hill would be too much without the golf cart but for the rental price it could be included. The beach was fabulous & the weather was even better. Fire works in St Joseph were awesome, we will be back
Tony was great to communicate with & very helpful for details
The outside could be a little more tidy, so I hope he’s not paying his cleaning crew for that

Initially had issues with getting the keycode and the unit was not cleaned after the previous occupants left. Quick call to Tony and he got everything resolved in no time. After the rocky start, our stay was great. Quick walk down to the beach with lovely views. Hiking, shopping, and some amazing restaurants only a short drive away. Would definitely come back given the chance.

Lovely weekend getaway
We had a wonderful time on our anniversary weekend getaway! The location is stunning! And especially being the off-season, we basically had the place to ourselves. The beach access is wonderful, but our favorite area to sit, was out at the overlook of the bluff, it’s perfect at sunset. Tony was wonderful and very great communicating with any questions! I hope to be back again soon!

Great getaway!
We are so glad we found this, everything was great! Spent a long weekend here with our family (2 adults and 4 year old). You can't beat the location, right on the bluff with a 1/2 paved path to get down to the water and beach. The beach is amazing and basically was empty so we felt like we had Lake MI to ourselves. A past reviewer had mentioned the beach being rocky & to bring water shoes, we did and didn't regret it! Bring your water shoes and you will be all set!
The condo is clean, decorated very cute and just cozy. All the basics are supplied (coffee maker, Keurig, beach chairs, beach toys, etc.). The only thing you need to bring are your own towels and you are all set! The location is perfect, it's also located within 10 min from downtown St. Joe. Contact with the host was great and he provided detailed directions that were super helpful to find the right place and he was very responsive.
We really couldn't have asked for a better stay and will be back!

Great little 1BR condo with a private beach! My kids (10 and 8) loved the bunk beds, and we loved the private beach, especially during the "busy season". As others have said, the beach is pretty rocky right along the water's edge, but otherwise is very sandy. You will want water shoes if going in the water. Also, though the path down to the beach is paved, it is very steep, and is quite a workout. There are a couple beach toys and chairs in the storage bin, and a nice paddle board was included, but I would recommend bringing your own sand toys for the little ones (buckets and shovels). The deck and patio are nice with plenty of chairs, and the setting was quiet and peaceful. We did not try the pool, but it looked nice as we saw others enjoying it. We would definitely recommend if you want to avoid the Silver Beach craziness and have a nice relaxing family getaway,

Couldn’t Be Better
Tony was an excellent and attentive host. So helpful. The condo was totally refurbished and so beautiful and comfortable. We couldn’t believe we could swim in a heated pool daily snd then walk right to Lake Michigan. We had teenagers and seniors and we fully enjoyed our stay. Can’t wait to come back next year! The sunsets were spectacular. The beach was so close to walk down the hill. What a wonderful vacation. So close to St. Joe for restaurants and shopping. We couldn’t be happier! Thank you, Tony!

Beach get away
Tony's place felt like a hidden gem in a great spot steps from the shoreline! We enjoyed the patio and views of the sunset over the lake. Tony was very helpful and accommodating and we'll definitely be back to spend some sunny days on the water!

We so enjoyed our time here! It was perfect with two small children (5,2) during a global pandemic lol. They could head outside safetly and run around. The beach is walkable, but definitely handy renting the gold cart to lug all our stuff. While our weather was cool, the pool is perfectly heated. We were able to head into St.Joseph a couple of times and enjoy the shops and ice cream! It wasn't too crowded and everyone practiced distancing and mask wearing. There is a playground and alternate beach access just 5 min down the road for a great change of scenery. I could go on, but bottom line is that we will be returning. Such a great way to get out of town and still isolate!

in disrepair and in need of improvement
I thought I had rented a family home. I fell for the ad. It is definitely not that. It is a rental property. Based upon the pictures, I didn't realize the home was a 1 bedroom until I read another person's review the night before our arrival. (That's why I am writing this one.) There is one closet in the whole place and it is virtually unusable because it is stuffed with various items. There is one dresser. That's your storage. There isn't a washer or dryer. We have rented many homes and have NEVER had one without a washer or dryer. I had to drive 15 miles to a laundromat. The foundation must be failing because the floors are sloped. The beach is amazing but the walk to it is VERY steep. The biggest disappointment was the bedroom itself. There is a tv hanging crookedly on the wall with exposed wires and a small outdoor patio table below, little to no storage as mentioned before, and a portable AC in huge black tote jerry rigged to the window. The tote was filled with water and took up a lot of floor space. We were not given any type of warning about this. When my husband contacted Tony, he made no apologies and said that it should be emptied every day. My husband emptied it once or twice per day and I emptied the dehumidifier 2-4 times a day. What if we hadn't been physically able to do this? The AC is about 40 pounds by itself. I think it is unconscionable that we were not warned. The ad is clear in that towels are not supplied. I get why, there's no room. The ad should also be clear that there are no laundry facilities and you need to be physically able enough to empty the AC. Truth in advertising goes a long way.

Great family getaway
We had a great time at this property. The space was perfect for a family of 4 like mine along with two boys under the age of 4. Tony, the owner, was really nice and easy to work with. He provided all details of the stay ahead of time, and also provided us with great food options too which we took advantage of with DiMaggios Pizza which was a great pizza place just a couple miles down from the condo (bring cash as that is all they accept), and the Lakehouse Restaurant which also had great food and amazing views of the water in St Joseph (and outside seating which was key for us with Covid). The condo was very clean, and had all the items we would need while we were there. The private beach was awesome with so many picturesque views during the day and sunsets making us wish we were still back there! The deck is great for having a meal or drink after a long day, and nice seating area with fire pit we took advantage of cooking s’mores and hot dogs one night with our kids. Access to the pool was a great change of pace from the beach, and while walkway to the beach is scenic and nice it is a little long to make trips back and forth with stuff so suggest renting cart from Tony :) Lastly, we suggest bringing water shoes for the beach as there are some fairly decent size stones/rocks in water and your feet will thank you for it :) Overall though made a lot of great memories for a first family vacation thanks to Tony and this really great property. We hope to make it back again someday soon!

A hidden gem
I can’t say enough great things about our stay! Communication with Tony was seemless. The house was perfect for our family of 5! Tony has thought of every detail. The golf cart is a must! Although the walk to the beach is doable, it is way better on a golf cart, especially with kids! We also enjoyed riding around the property in the mornings and evenings. The pool is clean and warm. The deck was so nice, along with the fire pit area. But my absolute favorite part were the sunsets! Absolutely breathtaking!!!
We only went out to dinner once, so can’t say much about food options. We went to The Waterfront on Paw Paw Lake. It was with kids because you can sit outside and they can play in the sand while waiting for their food. It was a little pricy, but good food.
The private beach at the property was nice. Not very wide because of rising water levels, but enough for the kids to play and for me to sunbathe. The water was a perfect 76 degrees.
Like I said, I could go on and on about our great experience at this rental! Book it! You will be so happy you did!

Coloma vacation rental
Loved the outdoor space and the path down was better for us than so many stairs. Loved the fire pit and the outside table where we could sit, eat, drink and see the lake and sunset. I somehow missed the fact there was only 1 bedroom. The pics showed the king size bed and then the bunk bed. So I assumed there were 2 bedrooms. That was the only drawback.

Perfect location for a getaway
Perfect location for a girls getaway. The beach was a short walk and absolutely beautiful. The kitchen had just about everything (minus the food of course) needed to prepare meals during the stay. Perfect location to get away, relax and enjoy the beach.

Hidden gem!!
We had a great experience with this rental property. Condo is small but had everything we needed and more! Plenty of room & beds to accommodate our family of 5. Tony was excellent to work with and provided great communication before our stay. Access to the private Lake Michigan beachfront was perfect for this time of social distancing. Our family will definitely try to rent again next summer!

Cozy Family Vacation - Sans Beach
We had a good experience renting this property. It was well-maintained and had all the amenities we needed. It was the perfect size for our small family! While there were other families in the complex, it stayed very quiet and had a nice relaxing atmosphere.
We enjoyed having a fire on the patio while watching the sunset over the lake. Having a wood pile on site was certainly a nice surprise! The view from the bluff less than 100ft away from our door was outstanding!
The only issue we really had was that the private beach was under water and has been for months. While I realize this was completely out of Tony’s control, the only reason we spent the extra money to rent here was the private beach access. I think it would be worth updating the listing to warn potential renters that the beach may not be available.
Other than that, the area was awesome with a good amount of activities in St. Joseph and South Haven. The public beach was still pretty nice with a playground and splash park for the kids.
Overall, I really enjoyed our stay, but was a little disappointed that the private beach was unusable.

Great family vacation spot!!
This condo was perfect for our family vacation with a teenager and a baby!! Tony had everything we needed from a pack n play to plastic kid utensils/cups to beach toys and a wagon for our use. He even had a stack of wood available to use for nightly bonfires!! Such a nice surprise!! The teenager loved heading to the heated outdoor condo pool in the evenings after dinner. The king sized bed was super comfortable and we had plenty of space. We spent most of our time “at home” on the outdoor deck with the gorgeous views of the lake.
The private beach was eroded during our stay, but it allowed us to explore some of the nearby beaches! Hagar beach was a mile away and was dog friendly, which was absolutely perfect for us! It was a nice, easy, scenic run down and back with my dog every morning. The kid friendly beach/attractions in St. Joe is only 10 minutes away, and we returned to town to to eat out one evening. We also visited South Haven, which was 25 minutes north and drove 30 minutes south to Warren Dunes State Park to hike the dunes.
The only drawback was that the teenager would have liked to be closer to town so he could walk around and get Starbucks every day lol. Also- when Tony says to bring towels, that means ALL towels you may need, including hand towels and dish towels for the kitchen!
Tony was always available via text and was easy to work with!! Awesome property! Great stay. Thanks so much.

Tony made the overall experience great. He was very accommodating and assisted us along the way while we prepared for the IRONMAN 70.3 Steelhead race. Everything you needed for a family of four to enjoy Lake Michigan at this property.

Wonderful week get-away
This is a wonderful little property to stay in. My wife and 20mo son stayed for 3 nights and were very happy. It is a true one bedroom with a fully functional kitchen and a nice living room area. The outside area has great room and my dog loved running around. Unfortunately the water was extremely high so there was no beach the week we were there but that's no fault of Tony's. He is a wonderful host, easy to communicate with and we had a great time. St. Joes is 10 minutes away, a nice separation from a cute little tourist town and they have a great beach that we used frequently.
