The owner is very nice and the location is great, but the property is in need of a lot of basic maintenance and is very dated. Our group is very understanding and can look past most things, but the maintenance issues cost us time and angst. While some things are difficult to predict and plan for, such as the septic backing up into the house and flooding 2 of the bathrooms with waste, other things like screens that do not fit and windows that literally fall out of the frame which filled the house with bugs are easily avoidable with basic maintenance. Things like the freezer not working properly, the freezer door handle falling off, and broken shelf in the refrigerator can be dealt with, but when paying as much as we did for a week stay could easily be fixed by buying a new refrigerator for a few hundred dollars. Other things like the 3 very broken and dangerous chairs should just be tossed as a member of our group sat on one and nearly went through the glass window behind it. Like I said we can look past most things and ultimately did to have a good time, but the septic issue was nearly the breaking point for us. We spent several hours without a working toilet and had to ferry children into town to use the public restrooms and the smell was nearly unbearable. While the owner was ultimately able to remedy the problem the clean up was done hastily (not something that you want with human waste all over the floor) and we had to go through and sanitize the floors ourselves since they were not cleaned/disinfected properly and we were not comfortable with the children walking on them. This alone should have warranted some sort of price break, but when mentioned was met with stiff resistance. Not wanting to press the issue we let it drop, but still feel like charging us full price was unacceptable. Again hard to predict something like this, but it happened and cut into our vacation and I feel like the owner should have offered a discounted price.

The house and property are large and accomodate a multigenerational group nicely. It is well-located for easy access to a beautiful lake. The kitchen is well equipped, with the exception of the refrigerator, which mostly works but is in need of repair or replacement. Many repairs are needed throughout the house.

Dan was great to work with, property was extremely clean and well cared for we had a large group including grand kids. Ideal place with a shallow water ideal for kids of all ages beach was great for kids and adults.

Initial impression upon arriving at this property: "This place needs work for what we paid". There were a number of broken items and much of the property was "well lived in". Light bulbs were burned out, propane for grill was empty, the grill was filthy, the deck was not inviting because of excessive wear, door handles came off, window cranks were nearly impossible to open/close windows, etc. etc. etc. The upstairs bedrooms (3 total) were hot during the day (no AC - this was not disclosed by the owner in the description). The upstairs loft "bedroom" was separated from the kitchen & living rooms by a curtain (forget about sleep or privacy). WAY overpriced for the condition and function of what we were expecting. Renter beware.

Dan was very helpful with any questions we had but at the same time left us to enjoy ourselves. The home had plenty of sleeping spaces for our big group and had all all of the kitchen items we needed. The home was in an excellent location, right on the lake and very close to pontoon rental. Great stay!!

Great place for our large family to hangout and enjoy for the weekend. Dan was fantastic and made sure to stop by and make sure we had everything we need.

Group of seven stayed for long weekend fishing trip on one of Minnesota's premier lakes. Room for several more, super convenient, ample room, awesome lake view, and home well equipped for our stay. Very comfortable.

This property was exceptional. We were there to snowmobile and it delivered. Right on the lake and quick access to many great tails. The home provided the appropriate amount of bedrooms for a group of 7. The living space was vast which made dinners easy to manage. The extra bonus was a sauna which worked great. Dan Shultz, the owner, was very responsive to any question that popped up. Overall a great trip and plan to be back next season.

This house is perfectly located as a homebase to hit the trails! House is clean and comfortable.

Comfortable for a group of 6 spending most of the time fishing & preparing our own meals in the house. Beautiful view from the large deck. Adequate dock for two boats with great fishing from the dock & easy access to lake areas. Unlucky high wind from wrong direction for a day & half made the exposed dock not suitable for boats but daily rental slips at nearby marina are reasonable.

We had a great snowmobile trip with a group of friends and really enjoyed the location as well as the large, open gathering space. This served as a great place for morning breakfast and evening relaxation. A variety of sleeping arrangements for a group of guys, works well for 8, 9 was ok (definitely room for more if traveling as couples. We had some minor issues that we were able to overcome; the furnace filter was completely blinded over, but there was a spare. The water filter was also blinded over leading to no water available...this was also remedied. Great communication and responsiveness by the owner. Property is in average condition, above average considering slightly dated. Overall very good experience and the pros outweigh the cons. I would stay again, and I would recommend to friends.

We appreciated the accommodations as it was a place for the family to get together in celebration of Christmas. The hosts had the home decorated too, so that made things extra special.

This cabin worked perfectly for our family’s annual fall weekend at Lake Vermilion. The property has everything you would need and more. Plenty of space for everyone. The 180 degree views of the lake are stunning. Easy check in and out. We had a great time!

We had a wonderful stay! The house is very large with a large yard right on the lake! There were 7 adults and a baby, they had everything we needed and more! We hope to return next year!

This was a very nice location with quick access to boat launches, trails, and town. Everything worked in the house as advertised and we were able to all have our meals in one place- either on the large deck or the large, 2-table dining room. Just be careful pulling your boat in and out from the dock as there are shallow rocks you will need to swing wide to avoid.

Beautiful house with lots of room and a well equipped kitchen. Great location near Tower, MN. My only concern was the poor condition of the dock, otherwise a great vacation choice.

Went here in summer of 2019, we had a great time. Owner did not bother us at all, but was also available and helpful when needed. Great yard, nice large living room with plenty of seating. Seating for about 10 at the 2 dining tables. We had 10 people (5 couples) and slept comfortably. Would agree with previous reviews about the dock, it is in rough shape and needs some repairs. Laundry machine did not work, appeared to be under repairs. AC worked great. We never turned the TV on, but it looked like it had satellite TV. Nice fire pit, but you should bring camp chairs for that. Felt private. Overall, we were very happy with the place and we would definitely stay here again.
