The hotel is stunning. Upon arriving it’s actually breathtaking the views and architecture. Beautiful rooms, lovely spa, staff are attentive, shuttle provided to my husband out of hours to climb the volcano. Pebble beach area is beautiful so don’t miss it. The food at Il Cappero could not be better or a more memorable experience. The chef re-designed my eight course tasting menu to accommodate a fish allergy which was great.
Besides the rooms everything very overpriced for what it is. 25 euros for almost all cocktails, none of which were memorable, along with a 20% surcharge for basically drinking by the pool (they said it’s for delivery to umbrella but even when we walked up to the bar we were charged the 20%). Feels like you are constantly being pushed to spend 200 euro plus on bottles of wine. Frequently prices are not told until you get the bill. Dinner at Cappero was amazing but at L’arcipilago purposely ordered meat menu as have a fish allergy and was horrified to take a bite into an anchovies dish.

The location, food and the service from the staff is absolutely superb. You cannot fault these things, all 4 restaurants serve delicious and high quality food and the wait staffs attention to detail is excellent. The rooms are more than adequate, the minibar is complementary as well which is a nice touch.
It's difficult to not become picky when you are spending a lot of money somewhere and some things may never happen to those reading the reviews:
- for 2 days we were there, there was a crane boat shifting huge stones for the sea wall, blocking the view and making loads of noise in front of where you sunbathe by the pool. They started quite early and I was awoken to some quite large bangs when they started working at 8am. We were not made aware of this work being undertaken, certainly not told in advance, the boat just arrived and started to do it's work. This meant for the first 3-4 days we were unable to swim in the sea like all their advertising states. Bearing in mind the resort is shut for half the year, it just felt a bit ridiculous they were doing maintenance work during their summer season.
- 2 instances we were woken up (at 9am so it wasn't like we were being particularly lazy since breakfast finished at 11am and we were there to chill) by the cleaners wanting to service our room... it seemed a little early to me.

As you can tell from photos, the property is expansive and has fantastic views. Of course, the weather is no one's fault, but in fantastic weather everything, of course, is more superior. The views and pools are very relaxing and offer a remote getaway if you are looking for that type of trip. When things went wrong, the resort did offer us 30 minute complimentary massages at the spa which was nice.
Though the resort is beautiful, given there is really not much on Vulcano island, the property could do more to ensure its 5-star status and make it a pleasant stay even if ferries aren't running due to weather or excursions aren't possible. The rooms are mediocre at best - nothing that states it is a 5-star resort (unless, perhaps, you do the suite with the hot tub on the terrace). However, our terrace wasn't cleaned or prepared for us upon check-in. Typically Sicilian weather in May is good, but unfortunately this year brought lots of rain and wind - of course, no one's fault. However, the resort did not do anything to proactively enhance our stay when we continued to ask them for possibilities. No excursions could happen, no boat rides were running, and they gave no alternative options for us during our stay. We ultimately had to cut our trip short because we truly couldn't do anything. While there are 4 restaurants at the resort, they don't offer enough when you are stranded there with nowhere to go! My recommendation is to ensure you plan a trip to Therasia during the high season in the middle of the summer when excursions are more likely to occur. Be prepared for a truly remote experience with no ease of getting between islands due to unreliable ferries.

Wonderful hotel, a real treasure. We were upgraded to an amazing room with a great terrace overlooking the sea. Gorgeous views!
Breakfast could be improved. You can't serve yourself and the staff informed late on the choices of eggs and crepes.

The staff were amazing! super helpful and just so easy to deal with. Especially the front desk and the Spa staff!
We felt guilty about not buying bottles of wine every night. As we only drink by the glass.

This was an exceptional place to visit and stay. We had the vegetarian tasting menu one of the evenings whilst watching the sunset, which was incredible and a night I will remember forever. Each and everyone of the staff were so lovely and helpful. We would recommend this to anyone!

the resort facilities are extremely beautiful
The staff tries to help but for a 5 star hotel, they lack necessary training and experience. they served us cold fried eggs from the display first day and isaw they were doing it to others. other days we asked each time freshly cooked ones not the ones which were cooked 5 hours ago. the precut cheese pieces were the shell of the cheese that ypu shpuld not serve. and there were a lot this kind of small details.

This hotel is a World leading hotel and has superb scenery. The hotel arranged our transfer car and ferry and all went very smoothly. We had a room upgrade much appreciated. The staff were all very friendly and attentive to our questions and needs. The food choices were very good and in particular the breakfast - amazing. A regular free shuttle to town 5-mins away. Lots of seating in secluded areas for relax or reading. There is a warm and cold swimming pool.
The SPA was slightly disappointing but the massage staff were very good. The paintwork needs some attention.
