Pretty much everything - the room was authentic and clean, the onsen was stunning. It was everything that I had wanted.
It’s a bit cramped to get in and out of the toilet/bathroom area

I used the public and private bath and both were great experiences for me. I used the public bath when there were 3 different types available (2 being indoor and the third being outdoor)
Don't really have one

Authentic, charming, well maintained, old style onsen ryokan that’s built on the hills of Arima hot springs. Takes a bit of effort to get around inside the inn since you are going up and down hills that the inn is built on.
For those who prefer new and more modern facilities this inn may not meet your expectations.

Really cool experience staying at a traditional Japanese hotel, has a brilliant onsen and dinner was amazing! The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. The room itself was a little outdated but very clean.
The pillows weren't as comfy as I would have liked and the towels definitely need updating.

A Great place for a traditional japanese Ryokan & onsen experience. The Kaiseki dinner is very filling and delicious though the price is on a higher end side. Would recommend people this place if they are visiting Arima Onsen in the future.

The food was good. We had Kobe beef. And the serving staff spoke good English and was very friendly and helpful.
The common area a bit tired and old. Some places a bit mouldy

Gorgeous ryokan with good onsens. It was my first traditional Japanese hotel and onsen, so I was very impressed by hospitality, kaiseki dinner, the view, the room with tatami, yukata and hot springs. Totally recommend it!
Everything was perfect. The slight downside was that my view to the mountaints and the city was a little obscured by a tree. Yup, that is my only complain. Well, also breakfast was not to my liking, but that is my problem, not the hotel's.

The food at this ryokan is to die for. Some of the best I've had in Japan. The lovely staff who looked after us for all three nights was really delightful. The front desk staff speak good English and everything was explained to us effectively. Even quite an old building but the rooms are nicely furnished and are very comfortable.
1) The drive up this hotel is pretty horrid, super narrow and steep. There isn't a proper carpark so you'll have to either drop off at the steep slope and let the staff situate your car for you or you can attempt to park yourself in a very small crowded space. And depending on which direction you come from, it requires a crazy sharp left turn which is rather dangerous. We did damage our car against a rock trying to maneuver around. Do not recommend any driver who is less than confident to attempt reaching this place...
2) The beds are way too soft
3) The private family onsen cost Y3000/45 mins, which I think is rather high considering the room fees aren't cheap at this place, plus the onsen rooms are pretty basic in my opinion. Most other onsen ryokans I've stayed at usually don't charge their guests that fee of using those private onsens.

Beautiful and scenic view, excellent service, accommodating host. Great food as well. Plus, the hot spring in the cold winter night, It was perfect. Just be careful not to get overheated and go in very cold weather.
