Owner was friendly, quiet location we had our own private villa.
The bathroom needs updating water leaked everywhere from shower not enough towels to mop the floor.

Lovely breakfast & dinner. Honor system for alcohol consumption. Gazebo poolside for happy hour & meals. Tables & chairs on the veranda to enjoy a nice breeze. Upper-level room for views.
I didn't realize unless you asked for a ground level floor, you could be placed on the second floor without a lift. Location rather isolated so you either had to catch a local bus or taxi to go anywhere. Really no beach access due to large boulders.

The staff were very welcoming and friendly and their speed of response when contacted through booking.com was exceptional. The room was large and clean and the terrace was a great addition - it was lovely to sit out in the evening and have a drink. The breakfast was great (eggs, bacon, fruit, pancakes and coffee) and the pool area was very beautiful (which is where you sit for breakfast). The dinner that we had at the hotel one night was also wonderful - an excellent 3 course meal for our last night. There was good space for car parking and the dog that lived at the hotel was very cute, but not excessively friendly - he would visit for a few minutes before moving on.
Although we chose the location because it is fairly central to the island, there is not much around the hotel (shops, bars, restaurants etc.). You would certainly need a car if you were to stay here - it has good access to main roads to the north and south of the island as well as the airport. The bathrooms were a bit outdated, but the water pressure was great in the shower and everything was clean. The bed was a bit hard, but perhaps that's personal taste.

Beautiful hotel, very attentive and friendly staff and great food.

The villa and garden are beautiful and the people are very friendly. If you want to explore the area around Port Louis, it’s probably a good option. We were just passing through and only stayed one night.
The hotel is in a bit of a rough area and didn’t feel very safe outside. After reading a review about guests getting robbed we felt a bit unsafe in the seaside bungalow, had a fine stay though.
4.3
The villa main house is beautiful. We were welcomed very nicely at check in.
The canoes were awesome as was the hammock and pool.
The outdoor 2 room place we stayed in was very average. Shower was horrible, the furniture was all wooden and very uncomfortable. There were no extra pillows in the rooms.
The accommodation therefore felt overpriced.
The breakfast was OK. The waitress could have been a bit friendlier. She was not rude, but seemed rather unhappy to be there.

We spent two unforgettable weeks at the Anakao villa (March 2023). It was our first time at Mauritius. If you’re driving by car at night - pay attention- it is easy to miss. The location is convenient if you plan to travel a lot around the island. We used it as a base to go to locations north and south.
After a long journey, we had a great welcome by the by super friendly hotel manager Ben and his dog Zuru. Ben told us all the sights we need to visit and other local advice (groceries, beaches, rhumeries etc. )
We were staying in the red room. It was big, nice and clean. We had access to a big balcony with view to the garden.
The swimming pool was great and we spent a lot of time either in or around the pool. We enjoyed the view from the swimming pool every day! Although, there’s no sandy beach, there’s a carved out access to the ocean, where you can swim, kayak ( gear available) or snorkel. The hotel also provides swimming shoes to protect against steeping sharp stones.
We were thinking of going out for dinner every night, but the dinner at the Villa was so delicious that we ate there every night. Especially, we liked the desserts. There I tasted the best cheesecake in my life. We actually had a true 5 star service. It was raining, so we ordered by phone from the kitchen and they brought the food under an umbrella! Somehow we really felt treated well.
The Villa ambiance was very relaxing and family-oriented, all the staff was super friendly and supportive.
There's nothing to report here.

such a beautiful house, you’ll feel like in a family ambiance, the room was big , clean and comfortable, the pool are nice and have a wonderful view
the property is far from the city and from the tourists place so you need to spend a lot with taxi that is so expensive, and the breakfast is not good it’s ok don’t expect like a hotel breakfast
4.3
Beautiful setting, the house is lovely with terrace opening to a large pool and garden. I could imagine someone writing a novel on an old-fashioned typewriter on the terrace,
We stayed in the beach front bungalow with its little terrace directly over the ocean. Loved it, it's exactly as pictured!
Good breakfast in the bar by the pool.
Special mention to the staff, particularly to the lady who helped with first-aid when I cut my head opening my car-boot.
This hotel does front directly onto the ocean with great views, but be aware there is not a beach in front of the hotel.
This wasn't a problem.

Breakfast was excellent as well as all meals. Very friendly staff, and the intimate bar area by the pool where guests can help themselves to drinks was a definite bonus! Friendly, colorful and small, perfect!
Better / easier access to the sea

love the ambiance and the cleanliness is great
the breakfast is average

Beautiful Villa - comfortable and big room - nice terrace - the dinners are very good - very kind staff
Breakfast could be improved. Location is far from the Port and shops around so I suggest everyone to rent a car at the airport cause the taxi are very expensive.. I spent 300$ in 3 days only for the taxi..
4.3
Beautiful hotel by the sea. The staff were extremely friendly and smiling. We felt very welcome. The food was also very good.
4.3
The hosts are super nice, helpful, the villa itself is gorgeous for its interior! Loved the room which was spacious, clean and very comfort. Also were pool, outside space and equipment (u can do kayaking, play table tennis, petanque etc.). We even got fresh towel to refreshen ourselves after long travelling, it was nice.
The food for dinner is delicious, so have at least one meal there, it's worth it.
Food shop and something to eat is like 20mins by walk to the RIGHT site (when u have hotel behind ur back) of the city.
If u r searching for a quiet place to relax this is the right choice for you - there's nothing else to do in this city. This place is doable even without a car - it's like 30-40mins by public bus from Port Louis.
3mins by walk is public beach, which is quite dirty, right front of the hotel is just like 1m space to go to the ocean, otherwise there are huge rocks (but we knew about this and didnt care, just dont count with perfect beach here)

We had a relaxing and comfortable stay at Villa Anakao, a colonial-style accommodation that felt like home. The spacious rooms, cozy beds, clean bathroom with amenities, great breakfast and very hospitable staff made our stay almost perfect.
Location was a bit away from the city (Port Louis) and we had to wait for around 15-20mins before the bus arrived. Coming back to the hotel took us more than an hour from Port Louis. There were also no stores nearby to buy other stuff, but I guess this makes the place special for people who like a quiet, rural, seaside life.
4.3
Fantastic fresh food that just kept coming!
I liked everything and only sorry that we were only to stay for one night. I’d love to go back one day.
4.3
Bangalow was great, amazing sea view, worth it!

Great service , clean , food is great , big smiles
Highly recommend and best value for money
4.3
Beautiful colonial village in front of the sea.
Great pool area with hamacs and other places to lie down.
You feel welcomed since the very moment you step in: staff makes you feel at home.
Quiet place with just the exact number of rooms so you never feel overwhelmed by other guests.
Delicious home-made breakfast and dinner.
Convenient serve yourself system where you just grab food or beverages and write it down to pay later.
Water sports options for free such as kayaks and long boards.
Friendly and playful doggy.
The beach has no sand to lie down, but that doesn’t take away from the whole experience as you can always take a swim or practice water sports for free.

In was really available and kind for everything
