Magical property, but don't tell anyone about it! It is a amazing secret. This property is a labor of love and passion as you will see in displayed in the plants and artwork. Every nook and cranny is thought of. Snorkel/surf directly out of this lagoon. What not to expect: No poolside shennanigans and nothing moves quickly. Schedule resteraunts and taxi's before you leave!!! If you wait, "it will not be possible". Rather, plan ahead. Beds are best we have had in our travels. It's tropical, so bugs are a thing, just know that. Eileen will handle your every need.
This has nothing to do with the resort, just a culture of the island...resources such as taxis or resteraunt availability, is VERY limited. All of the taxis, all of them, may be at the ferry dock and not operating near you unless you have pre-arranged. You order dinner for delivery no later then 3pm, if you want to eat at 7pm. Waiting to decide where you eat, means you will not eat.

Beautifully decorated and comfortable surroundings. The attention to detail was incredible making you feel that you truly were in paradise. The staff were all friendly and helpful.
The only "issue" we encountered was that the staff forgot to top up our tea and coffee so we had to ask for our tea and coffee to be topped up a few days into our stay. They were very quick and responsive when we asked so it wasn't really a problem at all

Absolutely amazing room and stay. Everything is beautifully decorated and we had more amenities than we needed (coffee machine, 2 mini-fridges, kettle, toaster, etc.). The deck out onto the water was bliss and we wanted to spend as much time as possible there.
The staff even let us stay in the common areas and deck past our checkout.
The stay was pricey for the fact that it didn't include free use of kayaks (was around 1000 CPF/hour).
Kayaking around wasn't as easy as we expected. There's many rocks/coral around the hotel's water which makes it tricky to get out/come back.

This unique boutique hotel was delightful. Every suite was private and surrounded by lush gardens and tranquil small pools. The variety of public lounges were eclectically decorated. It Turku felt like we were in paradise. There was plenty of outdoor areas for swimming in the lagoon. If you enjoy unique, artistic, small boutique hotels, this is for you!

The hotel grounds were incredible. It was like walking through a lush jungle that opened up to the beautiful oceanfront. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and uniquely furnished. It was a very nice, relaxing place.
There were a lot of tiny bugs that bit us down by the waterfront, but I guess that's part of being on a tropical island. It was off-season, so the hotel was very quiet, which was nice and relaxing, but almost a little too quiet for us. We had a garden view room which had a little outdoor kitchen and covered patio. We wish the patio had a ceiling fan to give us a little relief from the heat and humidity.

Beautiful boutique hotel set in tropical garden. The decor is eclectic reflecting the exotic taste of owner. Lots of quiet and private places.
Neighbours were loud which detracted marginally from the overall experience.

The view of the lagoon was fantastic !! The landscaping is lush ^ lovely!! The furnishings are unique, and the room's shower & tub are magnificent!! The bed and pillows are very comfortable!! Bonus, there is a small store down the road and a restaurant very close to the hotel, so this was very helpful, to get snacks and a pre-maid meal.
On my first day there, the owner was taking up the small staircase to my unit, I put my hand on the railing to steady myself and the wooden railing completely collapsed. Unacceptable. My last two days in my unit were not so good. There was a serious water leak (rain coming through the roof) in the unit next to mine, so the owner and staff were back an forth in front of my unit and porch to deal with this problem. Also, the TV in my unit and one next door were not connected to the internet, thus no service. Thus, The owner & maid were in my unit trying to fix this problem, while I was trying to relax in bed. This was unacceptable. You would not expect these types of problems at an exclusive/expensive boutique hotel like this. IMHO a gracious owner and host would apologize for these problems and refund one night's stay. That did not happen.

This is a very small (5 bungalows as far I know) hotel and ours was just beautiful. The entire place is very tastefully decorated (mixture of local and European styles) and just the thing of you adore beautiful surroundings. There is a large deck right over the lagoon with more than enough sunbeds, tables for all the guests (no fighting over the best sunbeds necessary). The shallow reef is wonderful for snorkelling, with corals and fish right there. In the evening, sharks and stingrays swim by. There are also kayaks and snorkelling gear for rent - a popular stingray spot is not far away.
The location is beautiful and the deck means boat excursions can drop you off or pick you up right there. There is one well-stocked general store nearby and nice restaurants doing delivery. Staff was amazing, too! And the wifi was about the fastest in all the islands.

Located in a nice part of Moorea. The room was spacious, clean and well appointed. The common areas were lovely and it was a treat to watch the manta rays and sharks at night. You need a car to get around because taxis are expensive and restaurants and beaches are too far to walk. The kayaks were a welcome addition as we were able to get across to the motu (island).
We were disappointed that we were not able to book any tours through the host Eileen. It’s best to book boat rides and tours ahead of your stay.

There are likely few accommodations in the world that can compare to this one. From the moment you arrive you are warmly welcomed and surrounded by so much beauty. The entire property is a living work of art. Such beauty takes care and work, and it’s a testament to the fine staff. There are lots of common areas by the water to relax comfortably and drink in every detail, preferably with a beverage and good book. It’s the perfect place to relax and reconnect with what’s truly important in life.
Our garden room was perfect, with privacy and everything we could need. Gorgeous, large shower with great water pressure. While we normally preferred to prepare our own meals, we did appreciate and enjoy the fresh breakfast pastries and juice that we ordered in advance.
Truly a special place. Brava, merci!

The location was right on a small lagoon. Our host, Eileen was exceptional as was the rest of her staff. Wonderful kind staff…great excursion, tasty breakfast. Good drinks….small , cared for and unique.

Excellent location directly on the water. Extremely clean and well run. Our welcome with lei's and a mai tai was a lot of fun. We really appreciated the direct access to the water and paddled out from our dock to see the rays and sharks. We enjoyed the retro garden atmosphere.

We knew this hotel would be nice from the pictures we saw online but in reality is even better and nicer. The location has some amazing views and it is in a private neighbourhood. Our room was called Reva and it had a nice terrace with a minibar, microwave, fridge and even a blender which was so useful for our morning fresh pineapple juices. the hotel has an impressive garden, terrace and beach facing the lagoon. Also, it is very well maintained and has an exquisite decor. Eileen, the lady who runs the hotel is lovely and always looking after the guests. she sells very good quality products at the reception. We will come back ome day and we highly recommend this hotel :). thank you Eileen.

Boutique. Quirky stylish fit out. On/over the waterfront lagoon. Lots of pretty fish. Lush landscaping.
Paying to use paddle boards is ridiculous. No dining available in hotel. Breakfast offered is only breads/pastries.

We stayed in the Princess room with a fantastic view, direct access straight off the deck to the lagoon and uniquely intriguing private grounds (inc friendly wildlife). Properties like this aren’t easy to find.
The decks could use a coat of stain

There’s smell of cat litter, pee etc.

My daughter and I were sad to leave Hotel Fenua Mataioa. We stayed 3 nights. It is probably one of the most beautiful garden oasis on the island that is right on the water. It’s quiet, very clean and the owner and staff are very friendly. We are now at Hotel Hibiscus- huge mistake!!! Thankfully we are moving to The Hilton Tahiti tonight although we would love to go back to Hotel Fenua Mataioa. Thank You for making our time on Moorea very enjoyable.

The owner Eileen has created a tropical paradise in one of the best locations on the island. She and the staff were very helpful with activities and excursions. The neighborhood is beautiful and very quiet. Her cats are wonderful and extremely friendly. We had the Presidential Suite which was very comfortable and private. Location is great. Walking distance to restaurants and shops and a wonderful small grocery store 5 min walk away.
There were two large dogs which chased each other through the property for a few days. They had collars so they were not strays but I don't think they were owned by anyone associated with the Hotel. Anyway, they were gone after a few days, so no big deal.

This is likely the best place to stay in the island of Moorea. it is absolutely beautiful, with amazing, lush gardens and luxury beach furniture. the location is superb and the view of the water is pristine. It is small and locally owned, so has a real and authentic feel rather than a corporate, manufactured experience. The deck overlooking the lagoon gives great views of both the sunrises and the sunsets and hosts comfortable sunning loungers. Our suite had an amazing private area with nice furniture and a bar.
The staff are incredible and the owner/operator, Eileen (who has had the property for 25 years) is amazing. She went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful and memorable, and even went out of her way to help me greatly with a travel issue I was having. Eileen, is you see this, thank you for everything and I hope I get to visit the Fenua again. Māuruuru!
There is nothing not to like.
