About this house rental
This house was originally built in 1860. In 1900 the house was purchased and converted into a 2-family home to accommodate extended family. Today homes like this in Boston have been converted into apartments and condos. Retaining its original structure each room in this historic 2 address house has been renovated to offer all of the modern conveniences that make for a pleasant stay. House characteristics of that era like steep stairs and smaller room sizes could prove challenging for some visitors, but perfect for those looking to fully experience the history of Boston. This upper unit has 2,200 square feet of living space divided into 12 rooms consisting of 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, living room, dining room, den/5th bedroom, porch, game room, large yard, outside BBQ with patio dining for 8 and off-street parking for 2 cars.
The house allows a maximum of 12 people. The standard sleeping configuration is to use the 4 bedrooms and the den as sleeping areas. However for added convenience and privacy the sleeping areas can be expanded during warm weather months into 8 distinct sleeping areas that include: 1) Master Bedroom queen size bed (with an EZ inflate twin in the closet), 2) Maple Bedroom full size bed, 3) White Bedroom full size bed, 4) Porch Bedroom full size bed, 5) Den full size and twin size sleeper couches, 6) Porch twin size bed (not heated so unusable Nov–Mar), 7) 3rd floor Loft twin size bed and 8) Game Room EZ inflate queen size bed (also not heated so unusable Nov–Mar).
Boston is America’s oldest city with the downtown area surrounded by 22 Boston neighborhoods. The property is situated in Boston’s “Brighton neighborhood”, which is the college neighborhood surrounded by Harvard to the North, Boston College to the South and Boston University to the East. This location is ideal as you are only 5 miles from downtown Boston and 200 yards from Brighton Center. Brighton Center is a quaint urban area with banks, a post office, library, restaurants, pubs, coffee shops, pizza places, ice cream parlors and more. Enjoy a Pats or Sox game with locals in one of the Irish pubs, have lunch in a pleasant courtyard restaurant, or take an after dinner stroll for some ice cream. Brighton’s lively center offers an authentic taste of life in the Boston area. The house is also within walking distance from a United Church of Christ, Roman Catholic Church and a Jewish Synagogue.
Boston’s public transit system, “the T” includes: subway, trolley, bus, rail and ferry options. A 3 minute walk to the “T stop” allows you to quickly get anywhere in the city, while saving you the cost of staying at a downtown hotel. If you rent a car or use Uber, it’s a 1.5-mile drive to the Mass Pike (I-90) that gets you to downtown Boston in 15 minutes and then anywhere else in New England.

A group of 8 of us went to the Boston area for a Red Sox/Yankees game and to celebrate my brother’s 40th birthday. This VRBO was very accommodating for the amount of people we had. The walk to Fenway as about an hour (we could had ubered for 15 minutes though). The drive from the airport was also 20 minutes. The owner was very responsive to everything. 5 star experience.

Appreciate the ambiance, vibe and beauty this 160 year old home has. Nice new patio made available at back of property was wonderful.
Location was great, easy rides to the Science Museum to hook up with the "Duck Tour and to Fenway Park.
Many restaurants within walking distance or a short ride.

Beautiful, updated house. The kitchen and deck patio were great for family gatherings. The bedrooms and barhrooms are also beautiful.

Stayed here with some friends for our college reunion and it was perfect. Jeff was great to communicate with and we hope to be back in 5 years for the next Boston trip! Thank you!

We loved staying together in a wonderful home with space for everyone! You must be fit as there are stairs to everything - to get in, to the bedrooms and back down for the bathroom as there is no bathroom for the 3 bedrooms on the top floor. The location is ideal! Walking distance to plenty of restaurants. The location to BC was what we loved - easy route to get there.

Perfect for our guys trip to Boston. Plenty of space to spread out. Great to have parking. Easy in and easy out. Would stay again.

Family joined us for our daughter’s graduation from Northeastern. We needed a place to park a large car, enough sleeping areas so everyone could have a bed, an easy to access house so everyone could do their own thing and enter/exit the house easily, a full kitchen so we didn’t have to eat every meal out, and a walkable neighborhood for the times we did want to go out. This lovely older home in Brighton checked all the boxes. There was even laundry facilities available as part of the rental. Glad Grandma stayed home- the stairs were narrow and steep, but for our needs, it was absolutely perfect

My family stayed here when we came to cheer on my brother during the Boston Marathon. The house is well appointed with amenities and is very convenient to several bus lines so public transit was easy.
Matt was easy to communicate with, check-in was a breeze, the area was safe and quiet. We would absolutely stay here again!

The house is well stocked with essential items- is warm and inviting. The location is great- nice restaurants, grocery, pharmacy in walking distance. Only caution is that there are a lot of stairs with narrow treads - our older family members had a hard time navigating.

The house is well set up for large groups of people. There were plenty of sleeping options.
The neighborhood is really nice. It is walking distance to several good bars, coffee shops, restraunts and concert venues.

The size of the house worked well for a family who wanted space to watch football while others wanted a space for hanging out. The two living spaces were a plus. We cooked Thanksgiving dinner and ate at the long dining room table with the china in the house. The house is old-as stated and has some interesting quirks one would expect in a house that old. We walked to Boston College for the football game which was easy and the closeness of Starbucks, CVS and grocery stores a plus
Owner should put some of the basics in the house like a few coffee pods and a Keurig for guests the first morning. Also, we had to "heat up" the house when we entered which would have been nice if house was minimally heated when we arrived. It heated up nicely after arriving. Overall a great location and big house for a family of 5

There were 6 in our party and we had plenty of room for sleeping and dining. We had trouble with the front door but were able to get in and out. We also had trouble with the TV in the living room, could not get the cable or streaming channels to come on, but we were able to watch a DVD. The porch TV worked fine. We were not there much so it all worked out. I know the property manager would have helped if we asked because he and the owner were very responsive and wanted to ensure our needs were met.

The property was everything it was described to be. However, the doorknob on the front door was broken (didn’t affect the security of the place due to the keypad, but still sketchy). There was what looked to be mud or feces on some of the towels that were there for showering. The A/C units could use a decent cleaning as well as we saw some mold spores in the vents. Additionally, the dishwasher door had to be held shut it order to run properly and there were HUGE carpenter ants that were in the kitchen, bathroom, and common areas.

The house and neighborhood were both outstanding. It was such a great trip. Plenty of space, very cool colonial feel. Huge backyard to hangout in with a very cool church bell tower rite behind in the distance that chimes on the hour giving the house such a calming ambience. The chimes are not heard from inside, so don't worry about it waking you up. Plenty of parking as well. I highly recommend!

In the burbs but easy access to public transit. Quirky, old house but well maintained and well stocked.

My family and I reserved the property for the nights of 7/27, 7/28, and 7/29. There were several minor issues, however, those can be overlooked. After the first night (the morning of the 28th), I walked downstairs to the basement (which was part of our rental) and noticed that the door was open. I checked and since none of my family members had opened the door, I went downstairs to lock the door. When I did so, a strange man came to the door and said he “was working in the basement”. He offered no identification. Since we had no prior notice from either the owner or the property manager, (who unlocked the door) we were shocked and rattled. I confirmed with the property manager that the stranger was allowed access to the premises while we were onsite, but we found the intrusion and violation of our privacy alarming and disconcerting.

Very nice place to stay if you are travelling with a group! Off-street parking for 2 cars was a big plus! However, the basement room was not adequate for sleeping (at the time we stayed there). Overall though, we enjoyed our stay!

Great location for our family celebrating daughter's graduation. Owner's son was very attentive to our questions regarding the disposal and television. Onsite parking is convenient and backyard table is a plus.

A group of us competing in the Boston marathon enjoyed this home to relax together, cook together and enjoy the Boston area. It was a quick bus ride (30 minutes) and then a short 15 min walk into the city centre. Or if you want to stay close to home, Brighton has lots to over for restaurants. We found it easy to go and explore Harvard that is a short 10-15 min drive.
The character of the home was charming. Many of the rooms have double beds which are cozy for two adults. We slept 7 adults comfortably.
Would recommend it to friends.

We had a great time staying here! The host was so wonderful to us, especially since I was a first time renter with VRBO.
They had TONS of room for my party of 6 and we didn’t have a single problem stretching out. It’s located at wonderful quiet street located near so much.

Well equipped; cul-de-sac; easy walk to stores and restaurants; comfortable beds; simple parking.

We enjoyed staying at the house. The dead end street location was very nice - but there are 2 schools on the street so be aware of drop off & pick up hours.
You must be able to climb stairs to enter the second floor to access the rental.
The 2 full bathrooms were great - with plenty of lines provided.
We already booked again!!

This was the perfect place to celebrate my birthday weekend in Boston with friends and family.

The pictures are misleading. The building is old and interesting, but not particularly comfortable. The rooms are much smaller than they look in the photos and the two-person beds are very small. The heat made it very difficult to sleep when there is no room to get some space between you and your partner. There are three bedrooms upstairs, but both of the bathrooms are downstairs, so if you need a bathroom in the middle of the night you have to navigate a steep set of stairs and hope you don't fall. The hosts were nice enough, but missed some details. There weren't enough blankets for all of the beds and nobody noticed that they were out of laundry detergent. That said, the yard was nice, the kids enjoyed the piano, and there is room for a lot of people. There are also great breakfast restaurants a block away.

Beautiful house with great location!
The house was exactly as described in the listing. The owner & property manager were very responsive; handling any issue immediately! The location was very nice. The bus felt safe & was convinent. One can pay with cash right on the bus without a prepaid ticket. We had 7 in our group 6 feet tall plus so there was some bending over in stairways & door ways. Navigating winding stairs with large feet and luggage was a bit challenging. But, it still worked out fine & we would stay again!

Perfect Location for a Trip to Boston
Our group of 6 stayed at this property , and we thought it was great! It was our first time exploring Boston, and this house was in a great location. We loved being able to stay in an older home, and we had plenty of space for everyone. It was also helpful to be able to walk into town for shopping and restaurants.

Great Location, Unique house
The house was great, had lots of charm and character. Backyard area was pleasant and gave the kids room to run around in. Location is great for access to Boston as well as western suburbs. Unexpected bonus -- this area of Brighton was fun and quite pleasant to spend time in as well.
