About this house rental
Enjoy this beautiful 1990 constructed post and beam home nestled in the woods on a private five acre retreat. This home has cathedral ceilings, hardwood floors throughout, an open floor plan with lots of windows. The first floor bedroom has a queen-size bed and views through the woods to the water. There is a half-bath on the first floor. Walk upstairs to a private, spacious loft with two twin beds and a full bathroom. Watch the change of the water on this tidal cove (11 ft tidal change). Swim at high tide off granite ledges and enjoy low tide walks along the shoreline. Your stay includes all bed linens and bath towels.
It is important to arrive at your vacation rental without any huge surprises, so let me tell you a bit more about the place.
The house is 1200 square feet, located 1/2 mile down a dirt road. You cannot see another house from our house. There is a washer/dryer but not a dishwasher. There is a DVD/VHS player but no regular television stations. There is wifi internet connection at the house. There is a forced hot air Rinnai heater, as well as a woodstove. The water is only 120 feet away from the deck. At high tide there is 11 feet of water, and at low tide there are mudflats. The town of Ellsworth is 6 miles away and has 2 large grocery stores, shopping, movies, and restaurants.
Our rentals run Saturday to Saturday.
We have a limit of 4 people sleeping at the house, and we do not allow pets.
Acadia National Park is a treasure to explore. The Schoodic Peninsula area of Acadia is more remote, less traveled, yet equally as spectacular as the Mount Desert Island area. This rental house is a 30 minute drive from each of these Acadia National Park locations.

This place is exactly what I pictured for my family to enjoy our trip to Maine! It is close enough to be convenient for grocery needs, gas, door dashers and attractions like Bar Harbor and Acadia, but the secluded spot lets you feel like you are miles away from your stresses.
The house was very clean and well stocked. Any little odds or ends we may have forgotten were there. There were also decks of cards, board games and puzzles to do with the kids.
My kids loved that they got to sleep in the loft and having a bathroom up there was convenient!
My favorite thing to do at the house sit on the back deck or lay in the hammock and watch the tides while listening to the birds chirping and the wind whispering through the pines. Stress just melted away!
Our hostess was very knowledgeable and easy to get ahold of. She provided great information on the area, suggestions on what we could go see, where we could rent kayaks, and answered any questions I had. We loved our stay and highly recommend this home for anyone planning to visit Maine!

After hiking and biking in Acadia this was a perfect place to end each day. We spent 2 weeks here and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful peaceful place to stay in Maine.

We had the most incredible stay at the house! Arriving was simple and after a long drive, the view of the water and the picture perfect cabin was most welcome! As others have mentioned the pictures do not do this place justice!
The views are great - watching the tides come and in and out was a neat experience. We saw turkeys, deer, cute chipmunks, a heron, and an osprey flying overhead. We rented kayaks and the trek to the water and back was doable. When the tide is in, the water is incredibly calm.
The kitchen is well equipped- we made breakfasts and dinner most days/evenings. We spent a lot of time playing games in the evenings. My son was excited that the WiFi worked.
We spent most days hiking and had an incredible run of good weather - only one rainy day! Easy access to both parts of Acadia!
We would not hesitate to come back!!!

This home was the perfect location to come back to after enjoying Acadia. Owner is excellent to communicate with, if needed. We would absolutely stay again!

My husband and I love remote, rustic homes! This was perfect. Surrounded by beautiful forest and waterfront!
The house was spotless and had everything we needed in the kitchen. It is a very comfortable home! ❤️❤️❤️

We loved our stay here. We spent most of our time in Acadia. The location to the park was convenient. The house was secluded, and the view of the water was nice. We had lunch out, and took advantage of the kitchen, and made dinner at the house. It was nice to have access to the washer and dryer. The house was even nicer than I anticipated. We enjoyed the wood burning stove. We also watched several of the DVD’s they had available. We also rented one from the red box at the grocery store. The house was very clean, and well stocked with anything you would need. I would recommend it to anyone coming to the area. We would love to return, and stay here again.

Wonderful location, very peaceful and quiet, the deer were a joy to watch. Cathy and Rick were wonderful, they prepared us ahead of time in the event the power went out due to the storm, overall great communication. The location is perfect, it’s right in between MDI (Acadia/Bar Harbor) and Scoodic, do not overlook Scoodic and Winter Harbor. Highly recommend and will be back.
Thank you, Dave & Kat

We arrived at our home when hurricane Lee was threatening Maine. Our host was concerned and gave us the option of coming back another time. We opted to ride it out and in this case it turned out to be the best option. The house is a gem. We lost power for a little bit but our host had water and wood for the fireplace ready for us. We loved the location. We were able to get to Acadia and Schoodic relatively easy. We also went on lobster boat tour and a kayak tour, which was also incredible. There are many little coastal towns in the area. Do remember that they don’t have TV. So make sure you bring a book or just enjoy watching the deer run out in front of the house next to the water. This house is close to Ellsworth so we were able to go out to eat or buy groceries easily. Would definitely recommend this property to others.

Our family (including kids ages 10 and 15) usually camps but decided to treat ourselves and upgrade our accommodations when we visited the Acadia region. This spot was perfect for us -- all the amenities we needed to be comfortable and a location that was a perfect jumping off point for exploring the area. We spent several days combing through Acadia National Park and also ventured further inland. Each day, we were happy to return home and relax on the deck or read and play games inside. After the hustle and bustle of the park and Bar Harbor, we appreciated the peaceful setting and relative quiet of this property. We hope to visit Acadia again in the coming years and wouldn't hesitate to return to this property, with our without our kids.

We were thrilled with the comfortable and beautiful home and the wooded setting on the scenic tidal cove! Cloudy, foggy, and rainy weather didn't dampen our restful and active stay whatsoever. We kayaked, from the property, hiked trails, and appreciated the easy access to area parks, shopping and restaurants. Plenty of water birds to watch at the cove, and a pair of deer crossing the mud flats at low tide. The welcome goody baske, fresh flowers, books, games, and movies were enjoyed. Washer and dryer were convenient to have. Sat on deck during when the weather cooperated, cooked steak on charcoal grill, and utilized woodstove on a chilly evening. Would've loved more time! Thank you for the spectacular experience, Cathy and Rick! Steve

Terrific place, perfect for a family of 4. Clean, simple and quiet. It was our third time renting the place and will do it again.

This was our third visit to this lovely home nestled in the woods. The house is beautifully detailed…complete with everything you’ll need. You’ll have the feeling of seclusion yet about 10 minutes from downtown…the best of both worlds. Communicating with the owners is a pleasure…always very helpful. We look forward to returning next summer! Lillian, Warwick, NY

When we seen the property, on-line, it seemed almost too good to be true. When we arrived we were blown away. Everything was as perfect as it seemed online, especially the privacy.
Enjoyed the goody basket, fresh flowers, and the complimentary Acadia NP map (very useful). The house was well equipped with everything we could possibly need.
Location was the most impressive thing about the rental. Close to Acadia NP, Bar Harbor, multiple grocery stores, and restaurants.
After a full day of hiking and sightseeing in Acadia and Bar Harbor it was so nice to come back to the house and just relax, unwind, and enjoy the tranquility.
Can not thank the owners enough for opening their home to us. They went above and beyond to make our week comfortable and memorable.

We were amazed with the high quality of the accommodation and the effort taken by Cathy to make our stay comfortable. We have stayed in lots of accommodation around the world and this was one of our favourites. We would 100% stay here again. Thank you Cathy for sharing your gorgeous place with us.

This was our first family vacation in years and we couldn’t have asked for a better vacation! The cabin was in the perfect location, secluded but close enough to town and Acadia National Park to explore! The cabin was well equipped with all items we needed which made our stay that much more relaxing. I was even able to make my son a birthday cake! The deck and view was amazing as well! My children truly enjoyed the cabin and asked often if we could “stay forever”! Thank you Rick and Cathy for such a beautiful cabin for our vacation and we look forward to returning in the future!

Just wonderful! House had everything we needed and the location was great for going to the Schoodic Peninsula and Mt Desert . The hosts kindly left flowers , a map and snacks which was a pleasant surprise. Hope we can get back some day!

If you want nearly equal travel time between the Schoodic Peninsula and Mt. Desert Isle this is the place. That aside the quite location is world class both far enough and close enough to resteraunts and shopping. The cottage is clean conveint and well stocked.
If you are looking for hustle and bustle this is not the place for you on the other hand you want seclusion and quite look no further.
Highly recomended.

This beautiful post and beam home set in the woods of Maine with a private cove made for an amazing vacation!! It was a convenient location and distance from both Acadia National Park and the Schoodic peninsula and a wonderful cozy place to come home to after a day of hiking and biking! We had everything we needed for cooking, enjoyed coffee on the deck or down by the water! SO peaceful and relaxing!! I hope we can return someday!! Thank you Cathy and Rick

Oh my goodness this place is amazing! The pictures didn’t do the home justice! Just beautiful! Comfortable, homey amazing. I could go on and on! The owners were amazing too! Really lucky to have had the opportunity to stay in this wonderful home.

…In the middle of private woods! The house, itself, is equally wonderful with 3 sets of French doors that let the outside in and a great view of the water. It’s minutes away from Walmart, Shaws and an variety of restaurants in Ellsworth. It was great to be able to launch the kayaks we rented right out back and enjoy the inlet breezes just before dinner. Whether enjoying the trails in Acadia or hanging out right here, our vacation was complete! We hope to return next summer! Lillian & Jonathan

Fantastic home in a secluded beautifully wooded property. Beautiful deck overlooking the tidal cove. Well equipped kitchen and cozy bedroom spaces.

The VRBO ideal
The property and hosts were the best we’ve ever experienced. Cathy’s tips/tricks should be used as a master class in VRBO hosting. Our stay was obviously great and a very convenient way to trek out into Acadia daily while being able to retreat to a quiet cabin each night that was perfectly appointed. Kudos!

Heavenly
A flawless experience. Every aspect of the property met our expectations. The house was beautiful, comfortable and well equipped. We especially appreciated that the kitchen was so well supplied with all the kitchen utensils needed. It was wonderful to be able to cook so comfortably — like being at home.
The location worked well for us. Close to the less traveled part of Acadia NP but close enough to Bar Harbor.

A little slice of Heaven!
A peaceful setting in the woods with the water just a few steps away. The house is well designed with four sets of French glass doors bringing the outdoors in. Perfectly situated only minutes from downtown Ellsworth and shopping /restaurants and half hour from Acadia...perfect! We will definitely consider renting again!

Maine Vacation
We really enjoyed our stay, the peace and quiet of the property was just what we needed. The drive to Acadia wasn’t bad which we did almost everyday. We were a little disappointed that the dryer was not working as we got rained on quite a bit and it took forever for them to air dry. Despite that we had a wonderful time and are grateful that you shared your home with us!

Idyllic spot surrounded by natural beauty
We had a wonderful time at Cathy's lovely cottage. We relaxed on the deck watching the jade green water flowing into the inlet and listening to the bird song. The welcome gift was thoughtful and tasteful, as were all the touches in the cottage such as Meyer's hand soap, Burt's Bees shampoo and an excellent range of games and books. We loved every moment of our stay and will return again and again!
