About this house rental
There are few resort experiences as unique as Sundance and few places that you can spend a few days that are as idyllic as this setting at Sundance. The branches of old growth firs brush the cabin’s windows. A year-round stream runs along the walls providing ambiance and natural air conditioning. It gurgles under an eating/barbecuing deck leading to an 8 person hot-tub, tucked back in the pines. Two bedrooms have private decks overlooking the stream. The cabin is airy inside with walls of windows; you feel like you’re living in the trees. The whole house has radiant heating so even on the snowiest days you can be barefoot in the forest. Curl up in front of the fireplace and watch TV or listen to music on a state-of-the-art theater sound system. In the years since we've been hosting visitors summer has become our most popular season and in 2018 we installed air conditioning in the house. We personally think the cool mountain air coming off a snowmelt stream is the best cooling system on the planet. But if you are staying inside on the handful of days each year when the temperature inside gets up to (gasp) 75, you can cool it off fast if you need to.
Cook a meal in a gourmet kitchen (2020 - we just had a new dual fuel range installed for the gourmet chefs at heart) or on our beautiful Weber BBQ when you’re not in the mood to make the short walk through the woods to the great restaurants at Sundance.
We live and work nearby and will do anything we can to help you enjoy your stay
The Unique Benefits of this House: Live music nights at Sundance's Owl Bar when the fire is blazing in the back room. Sunday Brunch at the Foundry Grill - particularly on patio days when the weather is fine. Sunrise bike rides on the mountain when you're likely to catch a moose or deer at every turn. Sunset hikes back from Stewart Falls - two miles away through a high mountain meadow. Summer movie nights at the outdoor theater. Heavy snowfall days when our road is impassable for a couple hours and the hot tub is cranking. Snowshoeing on full-moon nights when the Nordic center opens the trails at night.
Why the Owner Chose Sundance: Our family bought this home to be our home. We lived here for a magnificent decade. But when our family outgrew the house we reluctantly moved nearby and hope that vacationers will enjoy the house as much as we have.
Our Winter (December - April) Disclaimer. People always ask if they need to rent a 4WD/AWD vehicle. The answer is "Yes". Sundance is a ski resort. The roads are frequently - if not perpetually - snowy or icy in winter even with the best snow clearing. If you have a front drive vehicle with very good tires and are comfortable driving in snow you may be fine. The road to our home has two uphill climbs of about 100 yards. Not super steep. But if there's snow or ice on the road that's steep enough. And our lovely but shady canyon doesn't allow the sun to have much chance to melt the snow so our strong advice is to arrive with the best tool for the job - 4WD. Another winter factor to keep in mind; During snowstorms, Utah Highway Patrol may close the main canyon road (the only way in to the Sundance Resort) to vehicles unless they can show that they are 4WD or have installed traction devices (chains, straps, steel studs). It has only happened once that we know of but it has happened that a guest went in to town and during their trip to town a snowstorm set in and when they came back they were prohibited from entering the canyon by UHP for a couple hours. Just had to sit there in the car and watch the snow fall.

I was very surprised by how clean and well maintained this home is! The multiple decks/patios are surrounded by pine trees. We hiked to Stewart Falls right from the front door. We walked to Sundance resort to have meals at The Foundry Grill and the Tree Room. The sounds and breezes from the water kept us staying home most of our trip. We already re-booked for next year!

We rented this cabin while we got married and it was so cute! It was so nice to come back to after our wedding! The only complaint (which really isn’t even a big deal) is there weren’t a ton of towels. Seriously had the best time here!

The stream, the house, the views! What can I say? We had an absolutely wonderful time here. We’re so close to so many trails, parks and waterfalls. Only to come back to a beautiful home and stream next door. We slept with the balcony door open to listen to the stream. Our host was amazing and we will definitely be back. Thank you!

Spent Mother's Day weekend at the cabin and we could not be happier. The house is as advertised; clean, calming and perfect for our quick weekend away. We could walk to Sundance for dinner, sat in the hot tub mornings and nights and just enjoyed the sound of the river. We will be back without doubt.

Everything about this place was great, we will definitely stay here again! The house is comfortable and well appointed throughout. The bed was comfortable as was the living room furniture. As wonderful as the inside is, the outside is even better! The hot tub was inviting and the perfect way to relax after a day of boarding. The grill is a nice touch. We grilled steaks while listening to the sound of the creek. And speaking of the creek, if you crack open a window or two you can enjoy its sounds inside the house as well. The neighborhood was quiet and welcoming, and we look forward to our next stay!

The cabin is amazing, the location is beautiful, and David is a perfect host. My family has stayed here more than once, and our experience has always been wonderful. This is the perfect get-away cabin, for any time of the year, and one that my family and I would love to return to again some day.

We had a great time at David's cabin. Cannot beat the setting, amidst the trees with the stream running right underneath the deck. Such a cozy place. Fully stocked and very clean. Host was a very prompt communicator. So close to Sundance Resort. We would love to come back again.

This is our 2nd time to stay at this cabin. Beautiful location with a stream literally running under the cabin back porch!
We will stay here again. Only concern was the parking but we worked it out.

I love this house, the location, and everything about it. I just need to budget more time! The views are incredible, the hot tub soaking hot, and the kitchen well appointed (but bring your own coffee). I will be back as long as my kid is in Provo! Easy walk down to sundance!

This is our second time at this house and it is perfection. The fire pit, hot tub, the location, the stream, the little extras in the house like the robes, water in the refrigerator, body lotion and shampoos in the bathrooms, the comfy mattresses….and the property is so clean and lovely. I could keep going with the superlatives! It’s very hard to leave - thank you for sharing your beautiful home.

We absolutely loved staying here. We were celebrating our anniversary of meeting each other many years ago up there at Sundance/Aspen Grove. The house is very well maintained, has an incredible yard with the stream and trees. Perfect place to sleep and relax and go visit Sundance and go hiking. Good WiFi. Really the only negative is that if you are tall (I’m 6’4”) it isn’t a perfect fit. You will have to shower with your head ducked down as the water comes from above and was about 3 inches too short to stand up straight. My wife is just over 6’ and did fine. Also, there aren’t many window coverings. The windows in the master bedroom face the street and you can see in the windows if you are in the uphill part of the street - we put up a covering. And in the master bath you can also see the street and some houses. If you’re shorter it may not matter but my wife and I both felt exposed. But overall the house was on a great lot, the architecture is gorgeous, and this is where we’d stay again in a heartbeat when we come back. The owner was really great about communicating and we had a great stay. Very highly recommended.

My husband and I were thoroughly looking forward to our two-night stay with our college granddaugther and her roommate. We had dubbed the property our "tree house" by the stream and found it to be as advertised, except that the outside deck area and shed have been completely rebuilt and are even better than the pictures show. It was cozy and enchanting. Our granddaughter said it was the best night's sleep she'd had in ages. We loved all the windows and light. We made breakfast at home both mornings and had all the necessary equipment in the small but completely functional kitchen. The river was truly running thru, even rushing thru! but we grew accustomed the loud sound by the second day and night and the view of it from the master bedroom is marvelous. There is a lot of outdoor peaceful seating on the two balconies, outdoor deck around the new fire pit, and on the deck above the new shed. We gave less stars for the communication and check-in process only because there was a little glitch and we didn't receive the info for some reason. Fortunately we met David as we were arriving and he was very kind and helpful, giving us all the info we needed and then some. Thank you! We never did figure out the way to walk to Sundance, but it was so close to drive and very conveniently located to the on-site restaurants, outdoor theater and Stewart Falls hike, which we wonderful. We highly recommend taking the chair lift too. The views are spectacular! Completely enjoyed our stay.

Incredibly unique house. Internal Stair system to three bedrooms?? My kids thought it was the coolest thing they have ever seen. There was gorgeous stream running right next to the house. The house was clean and well maintained. The area was great and spent a lot of time at Sundance Mountain. I would recommend this house to anyone.

We enjoyed a restful few days in the mountains. The sound of the river at night was soothing (although quite loud due to the high runoff after a record breaking snowfall winter). Neighbors are quite close, but it wasn't an issue for us. We had everything we needed, instructions were clear and thorough, and when needed, David was easy to get ahold of and quick to respond. Sundance Resort is an easy walk from the home. The only negatives were (1) a strong odor in the fridge when we checked in - like something had rotted and was cleaned out just before our arrival - shouldn't be an ongoing issue; and (2) the shower in the main on-suite bathroom is a little quirky and has no shelf or stool, but is as pictured, so no surprise. We felt this home has a lot to offer for the price.

We loved our short stay here. Walked to the spa at Sundance. Relaxed in the hot tub. The roaring river that flows around the property soothed us to sleep at night.

Wow! What a unique and incredible home. We loved all of the windows & being tucked in the forest over a river. The sound of the river & the sight of the stars at night was simply breathtaking! We enjoyed river kayaking, fishing, horseback riding, spelunking & zip lining just minutes away from the cabin & still had time to soak in the hot tub, roast s’mores around the campfire & play games at the house. It was a much needed vacation for our little family & we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect place to enjoy being together. Thank you!

Was nothing like the pictures that were shown on Vrbo. The outside had weeds, was not well kept, the inside was not even the same furniture, the upstairs toilet was in the shower. The upstairs doors leading to the outside would not lock, screens were torn, the upstairs bedroom door had plywood on it. The owner should’ve notified us about the flooding, sandbags everywhere. I could go on…

We loved this house! Very unique and the river runs right under the house! Just gorgeous. It was a great location- close enough to walk to Sundance and enjoy the resort amenities. We explored the area- hiked, took an art class, went fly fishing in the Provo river, and drove down to Provo one night to check out Evermore park. All in all we had an awesome vacation and would definitely stay again.

The home was awesome! Such neat architecture—all the windows gave a beautifully immersive experience! Things were comfortable and clean! There were quite a few wild turkeys so there was a decent amount of droppings all over the porch but that’s just nature—not much you can do about that! The home and kitchen were stocked with essentials, there games to play, and the hot tub was awesome. I took one star off for two reasons—both of which may be the snow’s fault. 1) The listing states parking spots for two cars but the space that was cleared for parking wasn’t nearly big enough for two vehicles—particular ones with 4WD as is suggested. We took great care to maneuver the veihicles to be parked within inches of each other and one vehicle was still kind of hanging out in the street. 2) One of the main reasons we booked with home was so that we could essentially use it as a ski-in/ski-out for Sundance Resort—we were told the lift was a short 5 min walk. Maybe the snow had blocked a short-cut path we couldn’t find but it absolutely did not seem feasible to walk. And even with a shortcut, the walk back would be quite unpleasant (especially with ski gear) given that the uphill difference in elevation is quite significant. That being said, the drive to the resort is SO quick and parking at the resort was never an issue!
