We rented this VRBO to celebrate our daughter’s graduation from the University of Notre Dame! We had family and friends with us. The house is beautiful on the inside in that Downton Abbey/ Highclere Castle sort of way. Plenty of room for everyone, plenty of bathrooms and sitting rooms but our favorite spot was on the front porch. We ate every meal out on the front porch. The owner met us at check-in taking us on a tour of the house and gave us its history. He answered our call when we locked ourselves out and thankfully he has an app to open the lock remotely. The house is historical and is kept in beautiful and clean condition. One review said it “smelled old” and that was not what we found. Highly recommend staying here. Lastly, it’s within a mile of all you would need, grocery wise, entertainment wise, activity wise and so on.

We had a group in town for Saint Mary’s Junior Moms weekend and this house was exactly what we needed. It was clean, the host was local and answered all of our questions and there was plenty of space.

We had 11 women staying together at this property for a local convention, and it was just what we needed! We all had our own rooms, except for 4 people who still had their own beds in the upstairs loft. There was so much space! The kitchen had everything we needed, including coffee. Communication with the owner was easy, and we would love to come back again!

Our family traveled from Houston, Dallas and Seattle to meet at this wonderful historic mansion! We were in town for a wedding at Notre Dame and it was just a short drive away. We were also within walking distance to great restaurants. We loved every moment of our stay and Eric was so wonderful as our Host! Definitely a 5 star review from our entire family and we would stay here again if we are ever back in South Bend!

The property was amazing, not only in its historic flavor but also amenities including a number of bathrooms, bedrooms, and large 3rd floor family room that hosted a family reunion of 13 adults with games, couches and even a beverage refrigerator so we wouldn't have to run down to the kitchen to replenish drinks. Host Eric was great and South Bend itself has a lot to offer for a family weekend getaway.

We had a small, intimate wedding at this property. It was absolutely beautiful. It reminded me of something out of a fairytale. There are so many small detsils that add to thos venue.
Eric, the property owner, i cannot say enough good things about. He is extremely easy to work with, very down to earth, and just a great person. He has been the best person by far that i habe worked with. Definitely a pleasant surprise. Everyone commented on how beautiful and unique our wedding was. Oh the beds were very comfortable too! Highly recommend!!!

This property is extensive. They have everything you need. There were absolutely rooms we didn't even use. Every room had something different to offer. It is a beautiful location. The only improvements I would suggest would be water pressure for the toilets and a few showers, but this is to be expected with older houses. Nothing to worry about. Really hope the house is available again for us to use. Such a unique place. Would be perfect for a few families. Loved it!

We were in town for the first annual Enchanted Kingdom Ball and The Rose was the PERFECT spot to host all of our friends as we got ready for the ball! Everyone absolutely loved the house and it's location was perfect for us. Eric was an amazing, gracious host and helped us out multiple times throughout our stay. Would absolutely stay here again - 10/10 recommend!

Great house for a family reunion
The house suited our family well. The teens loved the top floor with the ping pong table. We enjoyed the antique furniture, lots of bathrooms, the wrap around porch, and the modern kitchen with cookware, appliances and dishes. Eric, our host was very helpful.

Special Birthday gathering
The Rose is exquisite! Perfect location to celebrate my daughters (SMC student) birthday with family away from public due to pandemic! The home was clean, well maintained and simply stunning. Everyone had a wonderful time and slept comfortably. Highly recommended and would definitely book again in the future.
