A few steps outside the front door is our private sandy beach on Long Island’s Great South Bay – perfect for swimming, kayaking, and fishing in warm clean waters.
A huge nature preserve surrounds this property to the east. From the elevated wraparound deck, you will see breathtaking views of waving reeds, birdlife, pristine shoreline and a vast sky. That deck also provides front-row seats to the summer sailing regattas from Bellport’s yacht club.
This unique vacation home has overlooked its bay for 100 years and has been lovingly renovated with a Scandinavian flair.

New York City is only 60 miles away – but you’ll feel like you’re in a different universe. This is the last house on a short shoreline road that connects to a quiet family neighborhood.
You will have privacy, quiet, and direct access to water and nature. No traffic. No nearby noise. Just the gentle lapping of waves.
You will also be a short drive (or bike ride) from the charming town of Bellport –restaurants, library, groceries and the shopping fun of quirky boutiques.

We loved the location and the decks. We enjoyed the sunrise, sunset and moon rise on the same day and multiple days. Kayaking was easy and enjoyable from the bay. Upper floor was great as was the well-stocked kitchen. We enjoyed the charcoal grill and the back deck for dinners. First floor was a little musty but ok. Weather was perfect so we had windows open during the entire stay. Larger bed and door would have been good for the third bedroom but it worked for us.

The owner was gracious and the home was well laid out and organized with everything you'd want for a relaxing weekend of sun and sea breeze. It was extremely private and we thoroughly enjoyed the water access as well as the sea breeze and sun on the wrap around deck. Great place!! Loved it.

This was a nice property for our family gathering, all of us coming in from different parts of the north east. We enjoyed meals on the back deck and enjoyed sunsets from the top deck. Kitchen had all the amenities we needed and the grill on the deck worked great. Anita met me at check in and walked through the property. The private beach across the street was nice. The bugs were annoying so bring your bug spray (also supplied by Anita). Loved the privacy at the end of the street. Listing and pictures are accurate and we enjoyed our time!!

This was a great place for our visit. We were there, not to vacation, but visit a sick family member, so unfortunately, we didn't get to take much advantage of the bbq, kayaks, etc. We did get to take a quick swim in the bay and it was lovely and had a couple walks along the beach.
It is definitely an older home, in a very humid area, so some of the doors are hard to open or close, but that is to be expected. Anita was there to meet us and explain where things were and was so open to taking any questions during our stay. Plenty of dishes, cooking utensils, etc.; the fridge was spotlessly clean; dishwasher is old, but works. A/C in each room, not only kept the place cool, but let everyone keep their room to their liking. Pillows were the best I've ever slept on and the beds were very comfortable. We loved the upstairs porch and never saw so many dragonflies in my life. Also had deer in the yard one morning. Just a sweet, comfortable, traditional beach house. I'd stay again and longer if I could.

Great location right on the water with amazing views. Quiet but easily accessible to surrounding fun. House was great. Slight sulfur taste to water but I brushed my teeth with it no problem. Also showering was fine. I didn’t detect any smell of the house. It was fun.

We had a wonderful time at this magical place. The seaside air is amazing and the views of sea, sky, and wetlands are extraordinary. The house is cozy and well-stocked with comfortable bedding, ample kitchen utensils, and various toys for floating or paddling in the Great South Bay. We especially loved the upstairs living/sleeping area. It is full sunlight and fresh air, affords panoramic views, and provides a deeply relaxing atmosphere for a good night’s sleep. We watched the sun rise and set from the wraparound deck on this level, while listening to the gentle waves of the bay lapping at the beach. If you can pull yourself away from all this, the village of Bellport is charming, and there is a terrific fish market in Mastic.
Anita is a wonderful and responsive host and this private oasis is a great place to unwind and recharge. It really embodies the Scandinavian concept of “hygge”. We didn’t want to leave and can’t wait to return!

This is a tough review to write. I wish I could give it 5 stars with so much to love: the fabulous location and house design -- a wrap-around deck on the waterfront where you can watch the sun and moon rise and set...a peaceful sanctuary is just what we were looking for. The house is clean, full of cool art and relics, and stocked with pretty much everything you need, except ice and water. We noticed that others here recommended bringing in your own water, and glad we did, as the well has a bad smell. But it wasn't really a problem. Anita, the host, is very responsive and cordial. The local neighbors were friendly and helpful. We even heard the local wild peacock the first night we arrived!
The big issue with this home is the air quality. It is an old house by the sea, so I guess it's not a surprise that it has a musty smell. I thought we could get used to it, but several members of our family have asthma, so it became a real problem by Day 2. My husband didn't mind it, so, if you aren't sensitive to mold or have lung issues, then it probably won't bother you. We had to spend a lot of time on the deck, but that wasn't a problem since they have a bunch of really comfy chairs to lounge on. (We did notice the upper deck wobbles when you walk on it and that made me a bit nervous) The house is definitely in need of some TLC in terms of maintenance, but it is one of the coolest homes I have spent time in. Would be great for a group of friends or couples. I imagine the owners had a lot of fun in this home over the years -- I heard stories of a beach club and neighborhood clam bakes that harkens back to its glory days. The marshes and bay waters are beautiful and endless, though there's not much of a beach -- it feels more like a lake. The yard is nice and the kids played in the grass. We went to Fire Island to the beach to swim about 20 mins away. It was nice there and they have a bar/restaurant on the beach.
All in all: a home with great bones, a great location but not great air quality, even with all the windows open on a cool, beautiful day. If you don't mind that, then you will love this unique home and nature sanctuary.

The views are wonderful! Home is stocked with all you could need to enjoy your stay. But the home is full of mold and the odor is unpleasant. And I am being nice. The water must be well water and needs attention because it smells like rotten eggs. And the showers have no water pressure at all. The home is damp and the A/C units in the windows make the home damper. The driveway and parking was an issue.
I never leave bad reviews but for the amount of money I payed this home is not worth it. It was not comfortable and I am totally bummed out. And I am sorry to feel this way.

Magic
Our little getaway was magical courtesy of owner Anita who checked us in with her sweetheart pooch. My husband and our 13 yr old lab, Eva, enjoyed breathtaking sunrise to sunset views of the bay and fire island. Wonderful seafood from nearby Mastic. There was no reason to leave the house. We had friends in one night and rushed back from others in East Hampton to relax and enjoy our piece of heaven as the sun went down. We can’t wait to go back!

Amazing views and so peaceful!
What a great vacation we had here! The place was comfortable and well-appointed, comfortable beds, and the upstairs room commands views of the bay and nature preserve that are simply spectacular! Sitting out on the backyard deck for breakfast, and on the upper deck in the evening was simply delightful! Easy access to some great restaurants in Bellport. And the host is so responsive! Highly recommend!

My husband snd I absolutely loved this wonderful house. It is quaint and private and so peaceful. There is every anyone would need to cook anything! The upstairs bed was so comfortable and the decks are perfectly situated for the best views of the water and the marshes. Bellport is a delightful town as well.

Great Location! Great Views!
This was the cutest little home in Brookhaven; the views were beyond comprehension. It was a short distance to downtown area and grocery. Anita was very responsive and sent reminders for trash/clean up at departure. I would recommend you bring your own wash cloths; I wash my face every night and had to do it with my hands.

Labor Day visit
M family and I visited the Bellport area over Labor Day. The weather was great which meant we spent a lot of time on the deck. The views were awesome. The place was perfect for us as we grilled and relaxed . We had all the amenities we needed and the house was comfortable. Only issue is getting used to the shower water smell. It was a small issue.
Anita was friendly and funny. Super host. Highly recommend.

A Magical Spot
This was our group's second stay at this special property - and we cannot wait to return again. Anita's home is truly a magical spot. The views, the home, the water - it is the exact place you want to go to escape for a few days, or over a week as we did. The home has so much character and is very comfortable for a group to stay in and also work from as needed. We enjoyed grilling, the decks, morning walks along the water, peace and quiet, and making meals in the kitchen. Anita is lovely host and reachable as needed. We will be back!

Gorgeous rustic oasis
It’s a beautiful beachfront property less than 1.5 hr drive from NYC. The views are unbelievable - we saw the sunrise in the morning over the wetlands and set in the evening over the Atlantic Ocean, Perseid Meteors at night, family of deers and bunnies and the ocean waves all day. Anita is extremely helpful and easy to communicate with and was always available throughout our stay. The location was convenient with a cute beach across the road and Downtown Bellport only 8 mins drive away. The only reason I take off one star is cause we did find a couple of things in the house inconvenient - the upper section has only one cooling unit and it wasn’t able to cool down effectively especially during the summer afternoons. Also we got a lot of bugs and mosquitoes during our stay probably cause of the rains

Stunning Views
The house was comfortable for 6 adults, with a nice deck for our family dinners and a gorgeous upstairs wrap around deck with sensational views of the sound and colorful sunsets. There were grassy areas on both sides of the house that were perfect for our two small dogs to play. Right across the street was a narrow, sandy beach which made for a pleasant walk , swim, or just to sit in a beach chair and enjoy the lapping waves. It was a quick trip to drive to the charming little town of Bellport. The owner was easy to get in touch with and the house was so well equipped that we never needed to call or text her with questions. I hope we can manage to go back again.

Beautiful spot
My family, including 3 dogs, thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful house. The property is surrounded by a stunning nature preserve which can be enjoyed from the wrap around upper floor balcony. The house was clean and well equipped and the upstairs was bright and offered great views. The one negative is definitely the water ( as others have mentioned) so plan on buying plenty of drinking water. This is a great spot for dogs - ours loved playing in the yard and running on the beach! Anita was quick to respond and very accommodating.

Beautiful House and Location
Although our stay was beset with the bad weather that most everyone in the east suffered in July 2021 - hot, wet, humid and, here in the wetlands, with probably more than the usual share of mosquitos, we had a fabulous time. The house was pretty much as described - a fabulous upstairs with wide decks, tremendous views of the bay and wetlands, and very comfortable king bed with lots of area for 2 kids to camp out on the blow-up beds that we brought. The downstairs was less dramatic and more functional - a smallish bedroom fine for two adults, a couple of trundle beds that in attached rooms that would be fine for kids, a big eat-in kitchen with most everything needed, and a large deck with a big table and wonderful charcoal smoker/bbg that was perfect for outdoor meals and large enough to seat a party of 8 when we had guests for dinner. The window air conditioners were essential that week and more than sufficient to keep things cool and dry. The two yards were great for soccer and badminton, though a little buggy ("no problem if you keep moving," reported our 12 year old grandson). You're at the end of a small road with two other houses and a vast wetland for neighbors, so the privacy and quiet were wonderful, especially with kids and dogs. The sand bay beach in front of the house and across the unused (except by you) access road is narrow, but the water was delicious, and we couldn't keep the kids and dogs out of it. The furnishings were comfortable and attractive - very much a person's home - so we felt privileged to be there. The house is within an easy drive of some good restaurants, seafood markets, and farmers stands and so we had everything we needed from the world...and away from it. We'll be back.

Private perch on the Bay
Great spot with nearly private Bay access right across the road. Our family of four, two young kids, and a couple enjoyed the space comfortably, semi-splitting the upstairs and downstairs by family units. Lots of excellent spots, such as the grill and deck and the bird watching and storm spotting from the upstairs deck.

Great Thanksgiving
Wonderful property, Anita was great and made things easy. Really enjoyed the house for thanksgiving, and would recommend starting here. Can’t imagine what the summer is like with the beach so close across the road. But the setting is also awesome during the winter / fall seasons too.

Lands End
Anita has created a unique experience with the renovation of her 100-yr old beach cottage at the end of the road, and smack up against a 2,500 acre nature preserve. It is so private, so eclectically decorated, and with such a clever but understated use of mirrors, that you feel like you're looking at 360 degrees of water instead of (only!) 270, wherever you turn. Some have called it musty. We didn't get that at all, although the well water can put off an occasional odor which you can get used to. The views are absolutely unsurpassed. She is attentive and seems to enjoy sharing her amazing home, for which we are grateful. She is pet-friendly which brought us much happiness to be able to bring our furry babies with us. The weather was pretty lousy all week so we ended up staying in most of the time - not such a bad place to hunker down, RELAX, enjoy the views, and burrow your nose in a pile of books, for which she has many. The kitchen is HUGE and well-appointed. The views are great from either first or second floor. And THANK YOU for installing a TV on the top floor for enjoyment in the cooler months. Thumbs up up up.

Quick weekend getaway
If the sound of waves of water lull you to sleep then you will love the location. The water is practically on your doorstep, perfect for those who enjoy kayaking or canoeing. There isn’t much of a beach, just a narrow strip of sand that is very marshy. The house itself is old but renovated and very clean with a large, well-stocked kitchen. Furnishings could be updated, like new, more comfortable sofas, bigger screen TV, and new & larger dining table in kitchen.
The yard & deck are nice but the deck & furniture are old, weathered wood that have seen better days. Would be nice to have new, comfortable deck dining furniture.
We noticed a swampy, fishy smell in the house, especially on the first floor, & the water had a fishy smell and taste. The owner told us it’s part of being in the wetlands!
The owner is gracious and very responsive. Overall nice enough place with spectacular view, but if being in the wetlands means having to endure a swampy, fishy smell, not our thing!

A tranquil sanctuary!
My partner, our dog, and I are in love with this place! The left side of the house is next to a preserved wetland so it’s very quite.... can’t find a place like this anywhere else. Tho the beach in the front of the house not sure if it’s totally a private beach since people in the neighborhood can walk pass.
During the stay, we kayaking, canoeing, fishing, swimming, walking to preserved wetland beach (it’s mid September so the water is cool already, can’t swim too long but the water is very clean.) we also spend a lot of time on the balcony on the second floor watching sunsets.
The house is a 100 years old so it’s definitely old but it’s functional and charming especially the 2nd floor where you can see sunrise and sunset!
It’s only three of us there so it’s very comfortable, I think 6 people might be too tight, for 4 people it also works.
Anita is a sweet and a great communicator.
The neighbor is cool and not nosy at all, why would they?, they have a good life, boating, fishing, enjoying life everyday, they could care less about us visiting as longs as we respect them and the community. We were quite, drive slow, smile and say hello.. and everything is cool :)
To sum up, if you love to be with nature and recharge yourself, hearing bugs, birds, waves, reeds all day, this is a place to be :) great experience we will be back <3

Unique and Special - A True Beach House
The house is all the way at the end of the street and wedged between the peaceful gentle waves of the bay and tall marsh reeds. It doesn’t get much more relaxing than this. Kayaks and a canoe for use in the bay on calm weather days, and incredible sunrise and sunset views from the enormous deck upstairs. Plenty of space to spread out with friends/family, and a great backyard deck for grilling and family dinners. We will definitely stay here again!
