When we arrived, as they had availability, they put us in a room with views of the beach (by reservation we had views of the garden), a real detail.
The room was very clean, very comfortable and they renewed the water bottles as a gift every day. The resort's beach is very quiet and pleasant.
Nothing bad to point out.
Simply comment that its location in Sandy Beach means that you need to walk a little more than if you are staying in the central bay of the island, for us it was not a problem, we love trekking and the tranquility of the place made up for it! I hope they rebuild the walkway over the coast from Pearl Beach to Saracen Bay and maintain the paths through the jungle, it is horrifying to see the esplanades created as "roads"

Our Villa was ready when we arrived. We got an early check in. After check out one of the staff member Charl guided us to a pick up point at the other side of the village, because the sea that day was a bit rough so we couldn't get a pick up in front of the resort. We would like to mention that we had a great time at this resort. All staff members were very friendly and supportive with our inquirys. We definitely come back and recommend this place to other guest.
The booked snorkel boar trip wasn't as advertised with archipel. We ended up on a small fishing boat for the same price.

Great location on a secluded stretch of beach, room was very nice for the money. Staff were lovely - so friendly and helpful, plus the breakfast was really good. The beach is amazing, as is the view from the pool as it has prime location on the side of the beach. Also recommend the bbq on the beach if you have time!
Having stayed elsewhere on the island this was the standout for the price - aside from some minor things to be aware of I’d definitely stay here again!
Food is expensive, so we didn’t eat dinner at the hotel aside from the bbq, however some very good options nearby despite it being a quiet area generally. Quite expensive to get to Saracen Bay where there’s more going on ($20 return for a 5 min taxi boat for 2 pp) plus boat stops at 6pm.
Plus - be careful of booking the boat tour (snorkelling etc) through the hotel as they will try and charge $25 pp for a tour that should cost $15 and then keep the remainder as we found from the other guests on the boat! They eventually took the extra cost off but make sure you don’t pay the higher rate!

The location was excellent right on a beautiful beach that was cleared of litter and raked every morning. Our room was quite small but good a/c, shower and very comfortable bed. The staff were polite and friendly and the breakfast was excellent and plentiful.
The sea is warm, clear and inviting, there are kayaks you can use.
The restaurant has an al la carte menu in the hotel which is wildly overpriced , we ate there the first night then up the hill to the sky bar for the next 3 evenings, better atmosphere and prices! The resort is lovely but there’s little to do and when we asked about walking to Saracen bay on the other side we were told it was not possible and to take the water taxi at $5 pp each way. We walked there in one hour. Wear good shoes, take water and follow the signs!
Also decline the offer of a private car to the airport for $40, a grab cost $10!
There’s a lot of building work going on around the resort and they also burn rubbish just behind and there’s some debris and derelict houses where locals play very loud music.

The staff could not be more helpful!
Brand new resort and staff still in training that being said they’re all top notch! They even sorted a taxi boat to get to the resort for me.
I had to leave!

Lovely location if you want quiet
A lot of construction around it and building rubble.

the beach was beautiful, the food was good, the included breakfast was also very nice (although it is not a buffet as previously stated). arts cafe is amazing (very close by for bbq, cocktails & they can help you with booking tours, boats, etc)
the rooms were very damp & we’re not clean or cleaned during our stay. the wifi did not reach the rooms, very limited sunbeds (only around 3 with cushions but all were very dirty). they try to overcharge you for everything. they tried to charge us $25 for a boat to koh rong which costs $10. its very secluded which is lovely and quiet but they make it very hard to visit other areas of the island but to price, we had to go to other hotels & resturants to get a better price for our tours & boats.
5.0 / 5.0
It was quiet and I was able to reflect and read. I had no phone coverage, so I was able to put my phone away and just focus on reading and going on hikes. However, there is a wifi you could use. There are a bunch of trails around. The resort nearby does have 4 wheelers for rent. They can also arrange a boat tour with less hiking time if you need it.
Nothing. Everyone really made my trip worthwhile.

Great beach at the hotel. Good location with a nice restaurant following the way up to the mountain. AC and fan did not make any noise which is something to highlight.
Payment with credit card comes with a commission not informed when explicitly asked.
Personnel gave misleading information about activities and restaurants nearby.
Towels and bed sheets could have been better cleaned. No cleaning in the room although we staid for four days.
Renovation activities at the hotel with a lot of noise from early in the morning.
4.0 / 5.0
the location on the beach is beautiful and the rooms are large and clean! very relaxing couple of days!
the food in quiet expensive and there aren’t a lot of options nearby! further back there is a bar that does bbq and tourist information. we also tried to book a boat to the next place at the hotel and were told $80 was the only option. at the bar up the street it was $20.

We were with a group of 25 people. The breakfast was good, the staff was great. The location is a little hard to find.

Wi-Fi felt down sometimes

The ferry from Sihanoukville brings you directly to "sandy beach" - tether is the "Bodega" resort
You have to walk a long distance from the boat to the resort. They will pick up your luggage with a small cart (and when leave too) We did stay there 5 nights
The Bodega resort is more or less a place for Khmer peoples holidays - only a few foreigners are to be seen here.
The free WLAN was super fast and good: you had very connection in the restaurant, on the beach and in the bungalow.
Our bungalow ("Deluxe ocean view bungalow", 62,-$US/night) was in the first row on the beach. The bungalows are duplex bungalows. Only number 1-2, 3-4 and 5-6 are in the first row and have a nice view do the sea and the beach!
The bungalow itself was nice and only 15meter away from the water, the beds good, the bathroom nice and much hot water at any time, the toilet good. We had a small safe inside the bungalow, the air-con did work very silently. There was also a big fan on the sealing. Through the only one widow you could watch the beach and the sea.
The beach has nice sand and there are nearly no rocks inside the water - so nice to swim
the breakfast à la carte (unfortunately we had this for only 2 days) was good and you could reorder more food for free.
The dinner à la carte was excellent, but there are not much various dishes available.
The big restaurant with a large terrace about 5 meters above the sea level gives you an excellent view over the sea and it is open and nice cooled by the wind - a nice place to stay there at daytime, when it is hot outside.
The pool is ok, but only 120cm deep. But you can swim without touching your feed the pool floor
The stuff in general was nice and friendly,
The Bodega-resort is situated on the very left corner of the bay - so far away from all others. You have to walk about one km to reach the other two resorts. The walkway it self is partly very desolate: broken concrete ground, broken wooden balks and planks with rotted nails you can hurt yourself. Better you walk on the beach!
There is only one other restaurant in this place - quite far away.
You can not do anything there: in the whole bay is nothing - for us it was a boring place.
The whole day the sun is burning down, because there was no shadow anywhere (no trees) but inside the restaurant.
The whole resort itself is in a very poor condition: everywhere something is broken or missing, nothing is going to maintain. By the way the water syringe at the entrance of our bungalow was missing and so we could not clean our feed from sand when we did enter the room
The breakfast buffet (unfortunately we had this for 3 days long) was extremely poor: all food is not tasty and all is cold because the stuff did not heat up the thermo container like all other restaurants do this if they offer a buffet. The food was more or less suitable for Khmer taste only. The toaster had 6 slots - only one was half working, So you can imagine, how long it took until your toast was ready to eat, when there were other guests too!
Inside the bungalow is no fridge.
We did book the place with 50% discount: 62,-$US per night. For this place it is a very high price - 45,-$US/night would be adequate and really enough I think - if you consider the poor environment around and the condition of the resort itself. The normal price of 124,-$/night is absolutely ridiculous in my opinion.

The location
The place is falling apart.

The whole place.. it's so relaxing
the receptionist wearing maroon coat, she is talking not good using local language, she didn't know that I understand her.

On the beach, beautiful views. The bar/restaurant staff were smiley and kind. The food was pleasant, though the boast of home baked bread on the website turned out to not be so...just standard shop bought sliced loaf.
The bathroom was not clean. The window was open and without a handle to close it. The room wasn't cleaned which is fine over 2 days, but meant we had no replacement water or toilet roll. On leaving we were told our water taxi would arrive at 10.30. We were then told it was delayed which was fine, and half hour later we were walked to the pier to wait for the boat. It came at 1.15.! We were Initially told the delay was due to weather...yet the sea was like a millpond and the weather was hot and still. Nobody was interested in helping or advising, and while we all waited several members of staff including management turned up and got straight onto their boat without any explanation or advice for the rest of us still waiting. A potentially beautiful place that is poorly run and run down.

The resort is situated at e beach which is nice
Terrible wifi connection. The breakfast buffe was a JOKE. We purposely chose a hotel with pool but the pool at Bodega was not cleaned or maintained AT ALL. NOT SWIMMABLE.

nice decor in the room, right on the beach, we were met at the pier by staff who took our bags to the property. nice burgers at the Resturant. small shop nearby but up a hill.
drinks and food were overpriced (although simular to other resort on the beach) breakfast from a small list of choices, none of which were large (not buffet as we had read), not served with fruit. no water machine. only 8 sun beds, not enough for the number of rooms. walls were thin in rooms so noise traveled easily although mostly this wasn’t a problem for us.

Good management always open to help, nice view from hotel, relatively nice beach, big nice restaurant terrace to stay, eat, and enjoy view. Nice personel in restaurant, wish some of them have better english, but overally very polite.
Not clean sheets and rather dirty filling (cushion)!. Was changed after requesting. Weak English of personal, except at reception. Mostly no internet in room, hotel placed not on main beach, tranfer to main nice beach costs 20USD/2 pax one way (need to wait, if ever).Weak mobile providers coverage on the island. Breakfast consist of not big offer, not hot coffee(warm), no mustart, rubish around restaurant by sea.rooms ready for 3 pax make ur stay more expensive if u r just 2 people.not option pick a cash out in the hotel by paying with bank card (some hotels offer this for 5%fee), u need cash for some activities and refreshments on the beach, no ATM on island, u can just make cash out at some hotels for 5 to 6%fee.For 40usd per night i expected more.at least good internet, clean room and a hotel boat in disposal for clients all day. I wouldnt mind for fee. As well other facility helped me with boat for 15usd. Our hotel asked always 20usd !
3.5 / 5.0
Great staff and location.
Amazing beach right outside the room.
Rooms where really spacious and properly cleaned on arrival.
Bad WiFi in the rooms far away from the reception.
No room-cleaning during the three day stay, so no fresh towels either. However, this might be because the staff were overworked during the holiday with a lot of guests(Chinese new Year).
3.5 / 5.0
The hotel is on Sandy Bay where there are only 2 other hotels so it has the potential to be a quite relaxing option.
The location is isolated. It cost $20 in a boat taxi to go anywhere - that’s each way. The beach is covered in litter. It appears that local practice is to occasionally rake all the litter into a pile and burn it causing an awful smell of burning plastic and unsightly burnt scrub land everywhere. Most of the double rooms are located next to the hotel’s generator which you can hear all night. At the other end of the accommodation is a path with a constant flow of quad bike and motorbikes going past causing noise day and night. There were 3 Sun loungers by the pool which is woefully insufficient for the number of guests there. There were 6 sun loungers on the beach which were commandeered 24/7 for 2 days my a large family and their karaoke machine. The pillows were dirty and sweat stained. It’s a shame as this hotel has potential but without investment and an improvement in standards it will only be a disappointment.
2.0 / 5.0
- The rooms were nice and fairly comfortable
- The cocktails tasted nice (albeit expensive)
- Warm water available in the rooms
- menu was overpriced (e.g. $7 for a curry, $5 for a small portion of fried veg)
- breakfast on two of the days were a ‘buffet’ style of cold rice, cold noodles, cold eggs, and bread. no idea how long they had been sat there and had flies crawling on. when asking if they could make me some vegetarian noodles they said no
- the staff were not very attentive, e.g. we sat on a table with dirty glasses and despite them coming over to give us our drinks they didn’t take the glasses away
- service very slow, waited 20 minutes for an ice coffee - though he did apologise for the wait
- the pool was covered in leaves at all times, never saw them clean it
- the beach was very dirty with plastic everywhere, fair enough not their fault but they could clean it a couple times a day
- locals sit on the beach for a BBQ most nights and play loud music until quite late, they also leave their rubbish there. not strictly the resort’s fault but they could tell them to turn their music down past a certain time and to clean up after themselves
- rooms were not cleaned or made up between nights
- WiFi in the rooms was non-existent
- don’t expect to go anywhere except for the beach, there is dense jungle all around. locals constantly lighting fires to clear the jungle/burn their rubbish
overall we felt quite let down as we had just come from Koh Rong which was a fair bit cheaper and a nicer beach. not sure why this resort is 4 stars as there is a real lack of attention to detail that I would have expected to be there for the price we paid.
4.0 / 5.0
Beautiful private beach, sea view room with air con. Breakfast included was tasty. Dinner and Lunch also delicious. Pool nice and right on the beach. Staff friendly and also arranged the ferry tickets for us from Sihanoukville and back.
Staff a little slow regarding food, but was told they were short staffed as it had only just opened back up after covid. Room wasn't cleaned but that was fine on the most part.
2.0 / 5.0
- staff killed quite a big spider that got into our room (we didn’t know what kind of spider that was, so preferred not to get anywhere close to it ourselves)
- they got our bags from the pier to our room on the date of our arrival, which was a nice touch
- offered us to change rooms when the AC was not working
Basically here ends anything good that can be said about our stay there…
- NOT WORTH ITS PRICE
- STAFF - ALWAYS BUSY, ALMOST NEVER HELPFUL, when asked about anything, everyone said they were BUSY and couldn’t help us (fortunately we managed to sort some of our things in the resort nextdoor)
- there is a huge problem with cleanliness at this place. We started off with stained sheets. There was a standard door hanger in our room „do not disturb etc.” We left it on our door when there was no more space in the bin. Nobody came, we had to get rid of the trash ourselves and ask at the reception for toilet paper.
- AC not workin
- asked for doing our laundry, staff informed us that they were BUSY of course, then after taking our clothes and ensuring us that our staff would be ready the next day, they got it us damp when we had to start packing because of our departure
That’s not what You want to get at a 4-star resort at this price.
- remote location - there is no shuttle service (boats/motorbikes) around the island and the location of this resort is in the furthest, hardest to reach location od the island - bear that in mind when booking
