Quiet little spot with plenty of room for us and the doggo.

The little place is nicely set up and cosy. The close proximity to the reserve and access to little lake side walks was great for the kids.
Handle on the fireplace needs a bit of attention, but apart from that we were very happy.

The process of booking made me want to cancel - it sounded so unfriendly - bring linen, bring tea towels, bring soap, bring tea and coffee, we might have some toilet paper for you - no cancellation refund, clean up after yourself - aligned with extra charges for cleaning and service on top of the cost. Very off putting. The actual stay was great - lovely house that we all fitted into well, a well stocked kitchen for cooking - firewood - a few necessities in the kitchen - a lovely place to stay - so - I suggest doing something about the initial process - if I hadn't wanted a holiday so badly I would have been really put off - oh - and what's going on with no more than 180ks on the trampoline - I've never met kids that big....

Great place, friendly hosts, and great memories
We stayed with our 4 kids and 2 dogs, and had a wonderful time. The house was easy to use and had all we needed. The hosts Steve and Nicole were amazing, and gave us local knowledge on activities and walks in the area, and provided bikes for the kids, and our kids were also given rides on their motor-buggy around the reserve, which was a real unexpected highlight. Very friendly people, and we'll be back again :) Thanks again!

Best bach for a family escape
Lake Tarawera and the Cheeky Tui cabin were just the respite our family and dogs needed from Auckland. Fishing and swimming access were just a few minutes walk away. Mountain biking and walking tracks were close by in the beautiful lakes area. We felt like we were in the country but near enough to conveniences. The bach had everything we needed and was very comfortable. It was particularly great for our dogs with the park next door and Otomutu reserve. I highly recommend this classic Kiwi bach.

We love this spot. Home away from home in a truly stunning part of New Zealand. We were warm and cozy even though we had a couple of chilly days. So much to explore on the Lake Tarawera area as well as in Rotorua. Pickle the Pug was very happy to be included in the holiday too. We met the owners Nicole and Steve who were staying in the Fidgety Fantail. Super helpful and friendly. I really donāt need to give high recommendations. Anyone who has stayed here before knows what a great place it is.

What a fantastic place to stay, we had a few people so were grateful for the extra 2 cabins.
Loved the location, the kids could go to the park right next door, the outdoor shower was such a buzz, the house itself had everything we needed to put on a dinner for over 10 people. Lots to do, very comfortable accomodation, will definitely be back, thanks heaps.

Hidden Lakeside Gem
This lovely cottage is a great hidden lakeside gem. Really appreciated the toys left for children and the nearby park for them to run around in. Close to riding and tramping tracks it catered for all our needs.

The Cheeky Tui is a cheerful and comfortable home away from home!l
Nicole was super great at communicating with me and very accommodating to our specific needs. The house is very well equipped - guests certainly donāt need to bring any bedding aside from their linen as there is an able supply of duvets etc. the kitchen is also well equipped and even has a dishwasher that was an unexpected bonus! The setting and indoor outdoor flow is awesome!! I definitely will be renting this place again!

Lovely winter weekend Escape
Great property and incredibly well equipped for a family. We bought toys and childrenās cutlery, plates etc and didnāt even unpack any of it as there was so much already at the house and our son loved the garden and reserve. Comfy house for all.

Great family holiday
We had a great stay, such a great child friendly place which made it very relaxing. Right next to a reserve with swings too which was a bonus. Great bay to swim near by (where kayaks are kept) and lots of walking tracks around.
Deck just needs a bit of attention one of our kids cut his foot quite bad on one of many nails that are sticking up. But we will be back again š

Great location, lots to do, so peaceful and relaxing
The property is in need of maintenance. Nails sticking up on decking, an accident waiting to happen, spikes through carpet edge, new toilet seat required, and the sink hadn't been cleaned, nor the window behind the cooker that had numerous dead flies. We had to pay a $50 cleaning fee before we went, so very disappointed. We still had a relaxing time but for top dollar we expected to receive what we had read in the advert. We contacted owner who apologized but didn't offer any type of refund.

Cheeky Tui is Tops
This holiday home is the perfect place for the Kiwi Bach holiday. A wonderful base for all the 'must-do' activities in the Rotorua/Tarawera area. Very private and peaceful, our whole family loved our week here and made many memories to treasure.

2020 fun
What a great little spot. The family enjoyed the beach, bikes and kayaks. Being able to bring our 2 dogs was the best.
Probably the only thing I could say the negative is the property is in need of a little maintenance. Kid caught toe on one of the many nail heads sticking up out of the deck!
Otherwise loved it!
