This property is a beautiful and spacious home with plenty of different spaces for people to spend time. The outside spaces are also incredibly pleasant. The bedrooms are spread out, so it afforded privacy and quiet. We used the huge master bedroom for our daughter and her bridesmaids to get ready on the day of her wedding, and was perfect for that.
There were a couple of things that were a bit frustrating. Given that this house is in the luxury category of rental properties, I did not expect the following issues which were present: we blew a fuse after using a hair dryer (one provided by the home) for about one minute. We then had to hunt down the fuse box and deal with that as we were trying to get ready for a rehearsal dinner. There were several windows that did not have screens, so the bugs got in. Some of the windows without screens were on the second floor, which would have been worrisome if we had had young children with us. We ran out of toilet paper and were told that in the house instructions, it said that there are 2 rolls provided for each bathroom. For the amount we were paying, I did not expect that we would have to purchase toilet paper. We could not figure out how to use the master bedroom shower and the property manager acknowledged that it wasn't straightforward to use- there should have been instructions. The property manager was very responsive but I have never had to contact a host as often as I did contact him.

Such a beautiful home. Lots of space for all of us. We enjoyed out stay.

I cannot praise this property enough. The pictures alone do not do it justice- this place was a dream!!! We stayed here to celebrate my sister’s bachelorette weekend. We wanted a spacious place to have “low-key” nights in, and spend our daytime adventures in Salem and local wineries. This place exceeded our expectations beyond belief. We absolutely adored the house and the property- we were so sad to leave by the end of our trip. Jeremy (the amazing host) was awesome. He was prompt, responsive and helpful. Everything from check-in to check-out was simple and easy. He made our stay that much better!
Do NOT hesitate to book this home. The house is fully stocked with renters in mind. It is clear that the owners want guests to feel at home and enjoy their stay. The accommodations were perfect, the home is full of charm, and the stunning property was an absolute dream. The sunroom was my personal favorite place in the home- I spent most of my mornings and nights sitting out there, enjoying the view and the cozy seating.
From the inside out, this place is perfect. I cannot emphasize enough that this rental property is amazing and deserves a GLOWING review. I hope to find myself back in the area just to stay here again. Do not hesitate to book- you will fall in love with this home!

This house was amazing! We had plenty of room
for eight adults to cook together in the spacious kitchen and spread out to relax in the great room, the sitting room, the screened-in porch, and the deck. The location was perfect to get to all our family events, and Jeremy could not have been more responsive!

The property felt rustic and historical and the location was easy enough to navigate into town for items and get back quickly. It felt like a retreat home. The outdoors was like a wild garden, colorful and fragrant.

We had a really nice multi-generational weekend at the house. It is as advertised - a beautiful old farmhouse that has been updated to include a large, well-stocked kitchen, nice bathrooms (one for each bedroom, which was awesome), and absolutely gorgeous grounds for roaming. Every room is attractive and interesting. The bones of the house are from the late 1600s, so there are many cool exposed beams and large fireplaces. It's been furnished in a mix of modern and antique-looking pieces that are comfortable (so many great overstuffed couches) and attractively designed. There is lots of space to spread out, and a fabulous butler's pantry with a second refrigerator and great coffee setup. Everyone in our party from age 2-81 was charmed by the house and thought it was very comfortable. It's also in a beautiful farm-y neighborhood for walking, relaxing on the deck, and enjoying the hummingbirds at the feeder. We found it very easy to get to Crane's Beach (reserve your parking spot ahead of time!) and Essex in just a few minutes. The host recommended Down River Ice Cream, and we second the recommendation! (but if you go at dusk, bring your bug spray as it is right on a marsh). Overall a great experience.

Stunning. Easily the best property our family has ever stayed at. The photos do not do it justice. Book it ASAP. You will not regret it. Such a peaceful environment. Plenty of space for a large group and every time you would walk around the house you’d find another thing to love. Couldn’t ask for a better experience!!!

The property was as advertised
We rented the house because my daughters wedding venue was just 10 mins away and the house had plenty of room for our entire family to get ready. The house was very comfortable and convenient to restaurants and to the town center. I highly recommend it for large family gatherings

we had an awesome time in this quaint but large house! great for large groups of people, it was so much fun hosting indoors and in the outdoor spaces. only downside is that all of the bathrooms are connected to bedrooms and the doors/locks do not always work. but would definitely recommend!

The house and property were the perfect location for our north shore friend reunion. Lots of space in a beautiful setting!

If you are looking for a house in the Ipswich, Essex, Gloucester area for a larger group, book this one! Tons of space downstairs, outside patio, big kitchen, lots of tables and it's in a location that is close to everything in the area, a short 10-25 minutes.
Photos you see on the listing are what you see when you arrive.

Jeremy was so easy to communicate with, responded quickly and was incredibly gracious. The property was perfect for our extended family and we are already talking about wanting to return next year! Thank you so much for wonderful memories :)

We had 9 guests staying at the property including young children and aging grandparents. The main areas of the house and exterior are amazing and really served our family well. The updated kitchen, great common areas, screened porch and deck are all you could hope for. A large tree offers generous shade on the porch for a good part of the day. There were some nice bonuses in the house including a Sonos sound system and a dedicated play area for small kids. There were a good amount of toys and games available.
As mentioned in other reviews, there are some accessibility issues for older guests, which we were able to work around without a major issue. A single first floor bedroom doubles as an office with a futon bed which may not work for everyone. Another bedroom area in the older part of the house does not have a door.
Jeremey was very easy to communicate with and responded immediately to any questions that we had. Overall, I would give the common areas a 5+ but the bedrooms areas a lower rating, especially at the price point of this rental.

This is a wonderful property for a large group. We had 10 extended family members ranging from 16 to 86, and we had a wonderful, relaxing time. We did not use the hot tub as it was just too hot this week. However the house was fully air conditioned- multiple zones that made it comfortable. The home is very close - 10 minutes to the Crane Estate and Crane Beach and we had a lovely time visiting both. You are also about 20-25 minutes to Rockport, Gloucester and Salem. , and 5-10 minutes from downtown Essex and downtown Ipswich. Had dinners out a few times at local restaurants and sampled a few of the. Ice cream places nearby. We had a wonder whale watch excursion with Cape Ann Whale watch too - many whales and dolphins. One thing guests should be aware of is that parts of this home dates back to the 1600s and as such some of the transitions between rooms are not even. So it could be a challenge for anyone with mobility issues. Also Main bedroom which is stunning, has a staircase that does not have railings. Again, need to be agile. We had one issue with one of the sinks that would not drain properly in one of the guest bathrooms, and the host Jeremy addressed it right away. He was accessible via text and extremely responsive. It was a wonderful vacation, and we had plenty of space for all. It is a beautiful property and as beautiful as the photos.

This farmhouse and property could have been showcased in a magazine! It is absolutely beautifully done! Spacious and clean inside with lovely flower gardens outside. We had plenty of comfortable sitting areas to spread out and a large kitchen to come together for meals.
The owners of the home were very attentive to any questions we had. We would recommend this property for a very relaxing family vacation!

The home was very large and spacious. We had 7 adults and 5 children and there was plenty of room. We enjoyed the deck area and kitchen. The home could of been a little bit more cleaner, some listing photos are not accurate, hot tub was full of way to much chlorine, no umbrella on patio area like in photos. The amount we paid for the stay we expected more details to be addressed.

So wonderful! What an amazing spot to spend time in for the weekend.

Great house and lovely location. We had a fabulous time at this beautiful farmhouse. There were eleven of us, ages 7 to 85. Plenty of space to gather and to have personal time when you needed to "get away." The chef we hired to make the anniversary dinner, loved the space in the kitchen. The octogenarians in our group had to be mindful of some of the step ups/step downs into rooms and lower lighting in some of the rooms.--I would still give this place five stars, but something to bear in mind if you have older folks with mobility issues. All in all though, a lovely weekend in a beautiful space!

We rented this beautiful house to celebrate the recent wedding of our daughter with the new family traveling from abroad and some close friends. There were 10 of us staying in the house. This was our first time in Essex, as we just moved into Boston area last year. The house turned out to be as beautiful and even more spacious as the photos suggested. There is also a large yard and a beautiful garden right next to the outside dining area. We played a few games of cricket in the yard and it was wonderful, with a breeze, soft grass, and roosters crowing too:). The location of the house is very convenient as it is very close to a few very nice small towns and also to Gloucester and Rockport, and also the Crane beach and other Crane estate sites. We actually started with looking for a house in Gloucester but couldn’t find a large enough and nice place for that specific weekend and I am very happy we found this house. Jeremy was very responsive to messages and easy to work with. I hope we will have another opportunity to stay in this place. Strongly recommend.

Had a great time at our family reunion in the house. Plenty of space to relax in the house and beautiful property for kids to enjoy. Great location near Main Street Essex and to some fun restaurants. Owner was quick at responding to questions. Overall a great place and recommend highly.

I rented Jeremy’s home for a girls weekend. It was nothing short of amazing. The home was spotless, it was incredibly spacious (even more than the pictures reveal!!), and the decor and and design of the home was like something out of HGTV. There were so many spaces to stretch out, relax, and chat all together without ever feeling cramped. The grounds were beautiful and the flowers were all in bloom. Parking was ample. We were all beyond delighted with our stay.

Impressive! One of the very best houses we have ever rented.
Comfort in every corner. Excellent design. Beautiful surroundings inside & out.

Overall, we had an amazing stay. It was the perfect setting for me and my groomsmen to stay for our long-awaited wedding at The Essex Room. The home was clean and impeccably designed making it very picturesque. Our biggest complaint was that the natural elements that we loved unfortunately caused some uncomfortable moments. There was a large hornet nest forming at the peak of the house on the side where the deck is. Our stay was too short to have someone come out to address this. The other issue is that there were some aggressive birds nesting in the barn out back. It was exciting for the bird watching but a bit sketchy when we went to put the trash out in the barn. aside from that, the grill really ought to have been cleaned and cared for better. We hoped to have a bbq one day so we brought a bunch of burgers and hotdogs. Unfortunately we had to alter our plan after opening the grill cover and seeing how much work needed to be done to clean it. I specifically asked about the accessibility of the grill ahead of time so this was particularly disappointing. Aside from these complaints, we highly recommend this rental property. The good far outweighed the bad.

This stunning home is extremely unique with various staircases and hidden hallways. It is super spacious. Jeremy was extremely easy to communicate with. We’ll definitely be back!

The house is beautiful, historical and modern, with stunning interior design and decor. It is very spacious and comfortable, with a huge yard, beautiful old barn, lovely patio and garden. Nicely appointed and big kitchen with beautiful views. Our family of six--grandparents, parents, and twin little ones, loved our time there.

We enjoyed this property very much—the spacious grassy lawn, the wealth of outdoor plantings (many still in bloom), and the numerous house plants which warmed the indoor rooms with their healthy foliage. The large lawn was popular with the frisbee players and the egg-shaped tree swing was a surprisingly mellow experience. We, all ages of our 3-generation family, had a happy time there.
