We weren’t expecting luxury.. we booked our trip for an holiday weekend at the last minute, and we were looking for a place we could bring our dogs along. So it surely fulfilled our “needs”.
However, The home was not clean and not as maintained as the pictures appear. Definitely outdated pictures from the home’s current condition. The side deck and path to boathouse are falling apart and would move even with our 30lb 2 year old walking on it.
When we arrived the AC was not working and the house was 80 degrees our first night stay. The host was responsive to that issue and sent someone out to fix it while we were there. It wasn’t until we were packing up to end our stay that the AC finally caught up.
Felt a little more like camping than we hoped. We were glad to have local family nearby so we didn’t have to cook or use the grill that appears it hasn’t been used in years sitting on the falling apart deck.
Perks… the neighbors were super friendly and actually allowed us to use the private boat ramp to put our boats in the water. Overall… time on the lake with family is what we were after and we got that.
This lot has great potential in desperate need of some TLC !!!!

Rented this lakefront property from July 1 - July 5. Good: owner rented for less than a week at a reasonable price / Lake view / dock / kayaks & canoe / relatively flat lot / plenty of parking / propane in bottle for grill.
Bad: front porch handrails rotted and loose / mouse droppings on counter, in cabinets, and on top of two beds / not very clean inside / outside grill / side deck not usable (rotted and mildewed) / wood walkway to lake had screws sticking out (pointed end) / ladder on dock needs blocking to make it easier to use / air duct in kitchen sticks up and will catch your foot / owner did not respond to text about mouse droppings.
Overall - we have owned 2 lake properties so we understand bug issues when you aren't there full time. We are even understanding of rodent issues but have someone look after your property if you aren't there to check on it, especially if it hasn't been rented in a while and guests will be arriving. The place needs some serious "love". And the dock ladder needs a block put behind it where it hinges. It is a full-on core workout to get out of the water because it pushes inward creating the wrong angle.

For the price, it met our needs. Interaction with the owner was good and the amenities were great. However, the place is in need of major updating and also regular maintenance. While I was there, I picked up lots of sticks throughout the property (that we also used for a bon fire one night), changed lightbulbs and tried to treat the place as if it were mine. There were some lights that just did not work. Not sure if there are electrical issues, or what (which also concerned me from a safety perspective). There are two bathrooms, one for the main bedroom and a shared bathroom. Both are in need of major updating and maintenance. The kids used the shared bathroom and the sliding door is a safety issue as it fell on one of them. Many things were labeled throughout the property to remind folks of the quantity of utensils, to put the knives back clean and dry or face a fee, etc. I get it, they want people to respect their property. We always do that anyway, but I'm sure others don't.
Here's a run down of the pros and cons:
Pros
Had everything we needed
Awesome boathouse
Access to kayaks and canoes
Grill, fire pit
Screen porch
Great location on a private cul-de-sac
Friendly neighbors
Check out time was good (11 AM)
Cons
Reminded me of my grandma's house
Smelled weird (the smell came home with us... we had to wash our clothes multiple times)
Beds were old and very uncomfortable
Floors were spongy throughout the house
Lots of bugs inside (millipedes, centipedes, etc.)
Needs major updating
Was dirty looking inside and outside (decks could use a power washing)
Outdated furniture and not very clean
Layout is odd
Porch light/fan needs fixed
Overall, it met our needs for the week and we had a good time.

This is a nice place to stay. It isn't luxury, but it has all the comforts of home for a reasonable rate.

Great house, great views, perfect getaway!
Read some reviews that made us wonder what we might be in for, but so glad we rented anyway. Ok let's start with the only bad at all. Yes the bunk beds are only good for kids, but they are bunk beds what would you expect. Yes we did see a couple ants once or twice, but let's be real its a lake house.. what would you expect... Home is well furnished, kitchen is extremely well prepared. The backyard is absolutely amazing. Huge firepit with picnic table on the water, good size dock for enjoying the lake, swimming, fishing, making use of the canoe/kayaks, or just watching the sun come up while enjoying coffee. We will without a doubt be returning!! Do yourself a favor and check this one out.

Family trip
The location fit us perfectly. Outside amenities were great.
Inside was not clean. Most beds were comfortable. Plenty of room to spread out.

Moderate awesome is true.
Dock area is great, plenary of dock space and room for boat.
House worked ok but is outdated. The bunk room is kid sized. Not for the all adults we brought.
Overall a good stay house just needs some basic maintenance

Thanks
It was all fine except the lighting in the kitchen. It was very dimly lit and then one of the kitchen lights flickered and even went out so it was even darker in there.

Great time at lake gaston
We enjoyed our stay very much. The property is much larger than the photos show, we had plenty of room and everything we need. We enjoyed getting to know the neighbors as well and spent most of our time on the dock and that the fire pit.

Lakeside fun
Enjoyed our stay at the lakeside house. The location was perfect and the size of the house was great, nice and spacious. It’s close to my family so they came up to visit. The house could use a couple of updates but that still doesn’t change the fact we had a great time

Nice house with good amenities, quiet location with good access to the lake.
Overall, the house was nice. There was plenty of space. Several tables, including one on the screened-in back porch, made it easy to manage meals and other activities. Most of our time was spent on the dock, which had plenty of space for numerous activities. We used the available kayaks and canoe to go boating, along with an inflatable boat we brought. Plenty of time was spent swimming and floating on tubes and rafts in the easily accessed and just-right depth of water off the dock. Fishing was one of the main activities and several good-sized catfish were caught, along with many perch, sunfish and even one turtle! There was a good supply of dishes and utensils, as well as quite a few spices and other condiments. For anything we needed, there was a grocery store less than 5 minutes away. All the necessary appliances were there and functioning well. The central air worked great and it was hot outside, so that was a blessing. Lots of ceiling fans circulated the cool air well. I even got some time in on the treadmill to stay on my exercise program. A very functional, nice place. If I have any complaint, or negative comment, it would be regarding the bed situation. There is a master bedroom with a double bed, sliding-door access to the back porch and a full bath. That's great, but the bed is sunken in the middle, causing both occupants to roll to the low spot and be crammed together. The bunk beds in the other two bedrooms are obviously intended for children, so if you have more adults than a couple in the master bedroom, they're stuck with one the bunks. Maybe not so bad, except the bunks have very thin mattresses with no box springs and they rest on unforgiving metal cross-bars that make for a rather uncomfortable night trying to sleep without being in pain. I'm a side-sleeper and after a few hours I woke up with my hips in agony from those bars. Like I said, the bunks are obviously meant for children who can probably tolerate them better. But when you advertise a house that sleeps 8, you need to consider that there may be more than 2 adults. Otherwise, a great stay and we had a really good time.

Had a nice time.
Almost everything was great. Nice place to hang out. House and dock are back in a cove, so we weren't bothered by the busy boat traffic. Only problem we had was with the bunk beds. Very squeaky and the ceiling fan is VERY close to the ladder. Otherwise perfect stay.

Bug problems
The home is very dark and musty. We were grossed out when we began seeing cockroaches. The kitchen was infested with them and we had to cut our vacation short. Besides being totally disappointed my whole family was inconvenienced. I do not recommend this property.

Great price for a wonderful home with many amenities
Would highly recommend. We had a large group here to spend a few days at the lake and catch up with old friends. We were very happy with the house and the amenities provided. Everything worked well and the kayaks, dock, and grill all added to the experience. Thanks Tin!

Good choice
This house was a perfect match for us. We were there for a relaxing anniversary weekend get a way. The house is close to restaurants, grocery and even though you are on a cove with many others, we were amazed how quiet it was while sitting on the swing at the dock. The porch (sunroom) was a great way to relaxe inside and view the lake. The owners were quick to respond to our inquiry and the refund of the deposit was quick also. All around a very good choice. We will be back!

FAMBAM stay-cation
Overall, we had a wonderful time especially outdoors. The kayaks weren't big enough for adults heavier than 195 lbs so that eliminated everyone except me. We are a Polynesian sized family so we used the canoe that worked perfectly for us. We also took advantage of the half done fire pit and made our cozy fire to roast marshmallows and eat smores.
The inside of the house is what most described in other reviews. The beds are definitely not comfortable and the master bed is hard as rock. The wood flooring is loose in certain areas, but the kitchen was workable. It had a lot of kitchen ware that we used throughout our stay. Also, I wish the ammenities stated to bring blankets and towels. Fortunately we broughy towels but we only brought two blankets for 6 people.
The best part of the vacation rental is the lake view & the water recreation.

Great location and decent property
The location of the house is outstanding being tucked away off the main part of the lake. The dock is nice although there isn't much room for a renters boat due to the owners boats being there. The house has a good layout for a vacation property and a nice screened in porch area. The inside of the house was decent but the refrigerator handle was broken and the floor in dining room was not properly installed. It appeared the owner installed a laminate wood-type flooring over top of carpet and it was coming apart. This house is perfect for a family with kids as it has multiple bunk beds.

Vacation with the grandkids
The house was good, we enjoyed the kayaks, the master bed was a little hard, we couldn't make the TV do anything but play the game. I really enjoyed the screen porch, and the lake view.

Nice relaxing time.
We had a good time. Very nice view of lake. Just as advertised and had a nice screened in room. Master bed was very small and hard. The house is very close to food lion and putt putt mini golf
