To begin, Leslie is great and made the check in easy and we felt very welcomed. The garden is really great, we spent some time reading, eating and relaxing there.
It was very easy to get to the beach and to move to other areas around, even if summerland is such a small area.
The apartment is simple, we didn't cook but it seemed to have enough kitchen gear to do the necessary even though it didn't have any oil/spices and some other things that would be nice. The only down of the place is the road noise, unfortunately it is non stop.

This is a quaint little cottage on the main drag in Summerland. It is private although you will hear street noise. That did not bother us. You can walk to the local restaurants and farm stand the owner has across the street. It's 10 minutes from Carpenteria which has grocery stores and more local restaurants.
The pictures are fairly accurate - it's a little more worn for the wear than the photos suggest but not that bad. It's well equipped for making breakfast and lunch. The deck has lots of space and is nice for relaxing. It's just right for 2 people but not more. We would stay here again!

We had a lovely 12 days in this beautiful cottage in Summerland. The garden is as beautiful as it shows online. The bed is super comfortable! And we found the kitchen and furnishings charming and just to our taste.
Leslie the owner is wonderful and gets right back with every need.
.
It’s small and that suits us. We felt totally private in the cottage. Every single thing in this cottage is well considered and beautifully placed.
Everything in this area has some road noise from Highway 101 so that’s a good thing to be aware of. It didn’t bother us and we quickly adjusted and fully enjoyed the beauty of the garden. we never watched TV so cannot comment on that.
A really lovely stay!

Great place and a great location. It is only for two people and my wife and I enjoyed it immensely. Restaurants are very close and every thing is in walking distance. However, you can drive into Santa Barbara if you want. Also a great place to take off on your bike if you would like to do that, also.

We loved our stay. The town is charming and has lots of character. The fruit stand across the street is delicious and added to the small town feel of our stay. Conveniently located between Santa Barbara and Ventura, but nestled away from the crowds.

My partner and I enjoyed our stay. The host, Leslie, is a superb communicator and very helpful i.e. restaurants and locations to visit. The cottage is conveniently located near walkable shops, restaurants and the beach. It is clean and the bed is comfortable. The patio garden is peaceful and private. We enjoyed our stay, and we will definitely return.

The garden was spacious, the apartment clean and bright. But too small for two elders.
The highway traffic and Amtrak train noises were cumbersome, otherwise it's a great place, for one.

We loved this place in Summerland. The garden area was as advertised, and made for a very pleasant office away from home. We were a close walk to a nice beach and a short drive to downtown Santa Barbara. Plenty of shopping close by, including a great wine tasting room next door.
We'd absolutely stay here again.

Awkward layout and very small rooms; no cross ventilation; no temperature control; extremely low ceilings; awkward and extremely small bathroom; no exhaust hood in Kitchen and oven door does not close; no fire and smoke safety devices; no cable TV--poor working Netflix only, no other channels. The garden/patio was very nice. The Owner was very friendly and informative.

This was a lovely, relaxing stay in a tranquil spot. The garden/patio area, particularly, was a real delight. The property was pet friendly and my small dog loved it (and its proximity to a great dog beach). Very highly recommended.

Leslie was a gracious host and made us feel comfortable and welcome throughout our entire stay. The location was wonderful and we enjoyed the enclosed patio many times during the week. Close enough for quick trips to monticeto, Santa Barbara and los olivos.

The cottage was beautiful, just perfect for the 2 of us.
Summerland was just amazing, some of the most friendly people we had the pleasure meeting.. The Nugget, and the cafe we visited most. If you never wanted to get in your car, it had everything you needed…

Fabulous cottage!
Absolutely beautiful cottage, in a wonderful location. It Has everything you could possibly need, plenty of space, immaculately clean. A real home from home. Plenty of bars, restaurants and activities nearby. And the garden is spectacular! Leslie is the perfect host. as a woman travelling alone I felt very secure within the property as it’s so private. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this to anyone looking for a beautiful place to stay

Recent Visit
Location was great but the place does need some work. There was a leak in the kitchen and bathroom during heavy rains. Issue with front door shutting and there was a broken light just laying there when walked in front gate. Also the tile in the bathroom is in really bad shape. Owner was very responsive and the garden is beautiful.

Charming cottage and in peaceful Summerland
The cottage is lovely and the garden is so peaceful. You are right in downtown Summerland and an easy drive into Santa Barbara, Montecito, Ojai and Ventura. It was a lovely place to return to at the end of the day.

Beautiful garden apartment near the beach
This private garden apartment was perfect for a stay near the beach in the Santa Barbara area. It's tucked away in the picturesque village of Summerland, and is steps away from a beautiful park and beach. A farmer's wagon is across the street and provided fresh eggs, veggies, and homemade snacks every day. Restaurants were close by, or takeout was available from nice nearby restaurants (we particularly liked Thario's on Santa Claus Lane). Our host, Leslie, couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. The bed was so comfy, kitchen adequate for anything we needed to prepare, and though the apartment is small, there is a big room for storing all our stuff, which made it easy to navigate! The garden was the best -- green and fragrant, lovely for sunning, dining, just enjoying the privacy of the place.

Nice location
Was not totally what expected from pictures and could use some major upgrading. However, worked out well for our purpose and Leslie was a great hostess.

Great location!
We enjoyed our short stay at this beautiful cottage. The kitchen was well equipped for our cooking needs, there were ample linens and towels, and even beach chairs and towels. We were just steps away from restaurants and shopping and the beach was a short walk down the street. Our only suggestion (not really a complaint) is that the couch needs to be a more standard couch. It rained for a couple of the days we were there and we spent a good deal of time lounging. But the couch was not conducive for that purpose. Maybe a smaller dining table would allow space for a proper couch? Otherwise we thoroughly enjoyed this cottage and the host was very kind and friendly.

Absolutely perfect!!
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful stay at La casa tropical! Everything was cutely decorated and well put together. The place was kept very clean and also smelled great! I was apprehensive about our stay because of a previous negative review I had read after already booking. I’m SO glad I decided to see it for myself. Leslie was a great host and more than accommodating! She gave fabulous recommendations for places to eat in the area, and we even had a chance to try her homemade pastries - to die for! The place is beautiful! The outside landscape and seating felt like our own private oasis. Not to mention you’re walking distance to some of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen! We can’t wait to come back and stay here again!

Great location. Great porch.
Great for access to Summerland Beach and the neighborhood and lovely small garden. Bathroom could use a remodel, and TV cabinet takes up too much room. Let guests know TV lacks cable stations.

Delightful place, wonderful host and neighborhood.
Delightful place, wonderful host and neighborhood. Across from an every day farmer’s market, several restaurants and charming furniture and antique stores. The bird sanctuary a block away was a nice surprise.

Charming place in a charming place
Cute little cottage with great outdoor space. Perfect for two and our little dog too! It was clean and had everything we needed, including a BBQ. I’d say the bathroom could use an upgrade but otherwise, great value, location and accommodations

Nice Getaway!
Perfect for two people and a small pet. We loved hanging out on the patio and walking to the beach. Unfortunately there was construction nearby and it was very noisy at night with the large trucks. The freeway noise we got used to but the trucks were constant. Leslie would not have been able to do anything about that during our stay. Leslie was a great host and we had everything we needed. Being a very small town we had the misfortune of restaurants not opening due to staffing problems but Santa Barbara and Carpenteria are very close by. We would definitely stay here again.

Summer in Summerland
We had a fantastic time at Leslie’s place. A very quaint home, totally private, secure and still It was close to everything, and parking was a breeze. The beach was a 10 minute pleasant walk away and for most the time there were only a few people there as well. Leslie was very gracious host, gave us a great overview of the area and what it had to offer. We’ll definitely be back in the near future!!

Summerland stay
We had a wonderful time in Summerland. This lower level apartment was very nicely done and in a great location. It was a small space, but very well appointed and comfortable.. The garden was beautiful and large and a nice place to sit and have meals. The beaches were a short walk or drive away depending on which beach you wanted to go to as well as you could walk to different places to have coffee, breakfast, lunch or dinner! You can hear the highway 101 but that seems to be the norm in Summerland. We kept the windows closed and the fan on at night and we didn't hear the highway. It's a perfect getaway for two and your dog if you have one. Leslie the owner couldn't be nicer and very helpful and gave us a few of her chicken and quail eggs! Which were delicious by the way! We loved our stay and would definitely come back!

Relaxing Getaway
We had a wonderful time in this beautiful cottage! We loved the close proximity to the beach and enjoyed shopping as well as the restaurants that were so close. We also enjoyed relaxing in the outside area, it was so tropical and felt like a retreat. Leslie was so helpful, and was available with any question we had. We will look forward to visiting her beautiful, well decorated cottage again soon.

Awesome Summerland Cottage
We had an absolutely lovely stay in this great little cottage. Leslie was the perfect host! The place was impeccably clean & in mint condition; great decor; had the most comfortable bed with great linens; a well-stocked kitchen with everything we needed; great WiFi; and an awesome deck and gardens which we enjoyed everyday! The cottage even had beach chairs and beach towels! : ) Location was great! Easy walk to the little produce stand down the street (ridiculously fresh fruit and incredible pastries); pizza to-go from Rusty's (great late-night dinner after a day exploring Santa Barbara wine country); and to a great little dog-friendly beach / park within a few blocks. Great breakfast / lunch at Field & Fort in a lovely garden setting (a little further walk or a short drive). My husband and I had a great stay with our pupster and can't wait to return!

Charming gem
This property is lovely and, while small, is extremely functional. The large outdoor deck is well done and enables indoor/outdoor living. While in the center of tiny Summerland and very close to the beach and restaurants, this oasis is private and very comfortable. And Leslie is very responsive, taking care of anything that comes up in a flash.

Lovely cottage garden apartment
Beyond charming! Great host and location with a spectacular and private garden to enjoy the sunshine in. Great mattress, linens, and easy to walk my dog to the waterfront park. Noise from Hwy 1 was not anticipated but after a day it turned into background noise. . . Summerland is the cutest town to walk around with easy access to SB.

Lovely spot
Although the apartment is small, it is perfect for two people. My niece and I never felt cramped. The kitchen works well and we made most of our meals in the apartment while on the trip. I brought my own stove top coffee maker, but there is a drip cone or one of the pod coffee machines. The fridge and oven are full sized. There are lots of plates and silverware, and spices. There were no oils or dressings, so bring your own. The bed was super comfortable. The garden is so lovely and is a great place to hang out. Although, the apartment was below the owner's house, we never heard any noise from the main house. You can hear the highway and the train, not loud, but if you are sensitive to noise at night you may want earplugs. The owner was super helpful and always responded quickly. The apartment is a very short distance from a lovely beach. I wish there was a barbeque. There is no designated parking and usually we were able to park right in front of the house, but occasionally the spots were full and we had to park further away. Once I had about a 4 block walk from where I could park. I would 100% stay here again.
