Fantastic lake view living! Enjoying an elevated hillside location along the tranquil eastern shore of Lake Como, close to the famous resort towns of Bellano and Varenna and a short ferry ride from the famous towns of Bellagio and Mennagio, this beautiful recently built penthouse apartment is ideal for up to 4 people. The property boasts fabulous beamed ceilings throughout creating a gorgeous, romantic ski-chalet style ambience, open-plan living with stylish modern kitchen fitted with burgundy and cream units, gas hob oven, coffee machine, toaster, microwave fridge freezer and dishwasher. The open-plan living and dining room provides the ideal place to relax and entertain guests with comfortable stylish leather sofas, a flat-screen tv, dvd player, and music stereo. The property is centrally heated throughout and there is also a cosy wood burning stove in the lounge. Hot water is provided on demand from the combi boiler. There is free unlimited ADSL wifi as well as satellite TV with UK "freeview" channels and various Italian and German channels. A chromecast dongle allows you to stream programs and films from your mobile phone to the TV. A contemporary dining area is provided and alfresco dining can be enjoyed by guests on the large, sunny private balcony with breathtaking views over the beautiful lake and surrounding mountains. The sleeping accommodation is also very stylish and extremely versatile with a spacious master double bedroom furnished with solid wood pieces and providing a romantic place to unwind with private balcony overlooking the mountainside and a second bedroom furnished with a single bed that converts to a pull-out double bed, and a sofa bed option in the lounge. A newly fitted modern bathroom provides a power shower, washbasin, wc, washing machine and Juliette style balcony. The small hillside modern residence is extremely sunny and boasts panoramic lake views. There is also a garage and public parking. This apartment may not be suitable for the elderly or families with young children as it is a top floor penthouse apartment with no lift and two external balconies.

Sue and Martin are great hosts and made sure we knew how to get keys etc. The apartment has beautiful views and well equipped. The only thing that keeps it from all 5’s is location. I think it is easier if you have a car. There are no taxis that we ever saw in Dorio. It is a difficult climb up to the apartment when hauling bags. We are good hikers and once we knew shortcuts to town and train, it was easier. We had a couple of rainy days, so we were hrateful we had such a nice place to enjoy when out of the rain. Thank you Sue and Martin!

It was very clean, lovely furnishings. Everything you need for a holiday. Incredible large balcony with uninterrupted views of the lake.
Walking distance to the train station, beach and excellent bakery/village shop. The walk back to the apartment is up a steep hill.
Note that we have a big car and had to park it on the road next to the apartment building. Also for parking in and around Lake Como, a smaller car would be better so we found being near the train and ferry very helpful and we didn't need to use our car the whole time we were there.

We had a nice stay in Sue and Martin apartment. The view is unforgetable. Parking the car is not so easy as explained by our hosts and the neighbours have some tips to help you. It is easy to drive to Varenna to take the traghetto with your car and visit the opposite shore of the lake.

Whether it was poor research on my part or something else we were all a little surprised at just how small the town of Dorio was upon our arrival. The home was great and provided us what we needed for our stay. Supposedly you can be fined up to 300 euro if you get throwing trash away in the wrong containers wrong which made us very worried and we ended up taking our trash with us when we left ha! The view was incredible and Sue was very attentive to checking in prior to our trip. If you are looking for a quiet getaway with very little access to groceries, restaurants, people, etc. then this is the perfect spot for you. We were not made aware of the Dorio train station until we googled it ourself, which was a HUGE win for us so we could transport between towns. If you are driving then this location is perfect as you can make your way around as you please. If you are taking the train and do not have a car then it may not be the best option unless you are okay with being tied to the train. There is one small restaurant in town, which is over 1/2 a mile down a hill and it had an incredible dinner our last night. Lastly, if you are hoping to use the taxi service to get from place to place be aware that you need to speak Italian or have someone is able to to help you.

The sounds of silence!
After spending a week in Paris on our trip to Europe, we traveled to Lake Como to stay in this beautiful property in Dorio. The idyllic location is not only beautiful it is also quiet.
If you were looking for a place with natural beauty to relax, this is the place!

Sue was great with the communications up front, the condo is great and well maintained. The location is nice and high to see beautiful Lake Como while on their deck enjoying a drink. Within a 15 minute drive, there are multiple ferry opportuniste to explore other lake como areas. Bellagio from Varenna is a must if you have the time. We will be back to the area sometime soon and will stay here again or recommend to others. The parking is a bit tricky, but with a good spotter, it’s a three point turn for a medium size vehicle.

Great location, beautiful views as per the pictures, very quiet when we visited.
Only downside offered was the garage - really shouldn’t suggest anyone attempts to get in it

We loved staying there, but it was difficult walking there from the train station with our suitcases. If you rent a car, the parking is still difficult, but if you enjoy not having a car and walking, it was really beautiful and peaceful! We loved it anwill try to come back!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The view of Lake Como is incredible. We found Dorio to be very relaxing and hospitable. I highly recommend the restaurant at the castle just down the road. The Sentiero Del Viandante is a must also and is only a short walk up the road.

Thank you so much for the great communication before-hand, we felt home right from the very beginning because everything was so easy. Your apartment is a wonderful place and we had the best time. Most of our time was spent on the balcony for sure.
Dorio is such a sweet little town and we would come back immediately. Maybe next year?

Urlaub in Dorio
Wohnung super ausgestattet, Lage durch den Zugang zur Bahn perfekt, der Wanderweg Sentiro Viandante verläuft hinter der Wohnung, wunderschön und jederzeit unterbrechbar weil man an jedem Ort mit der Bahn zurück fahren kann. Die Nutzung der Garage erfordert für große Autos etwas Geschick. Kontakt mit der Vermieterin war unkompliziert und sehr freundlich. Wir kommen sehr gern wieder

Großartiges Seepanorama
Wir hatten eine sehr schöne Woche im Appartement von Sue und Martin. Der Panoramablick auf den See ist wirklich fantastisch, das Appartment sehr schön und auch bei Regen gemütlich.

Top Ferienwohnung mi fantastischem Blick
Die Ferienwohnung war wirklich top, so wie im Inserat beschrieben und auf den Fotos dargestellt. Der Ablauf und die Kommunikation waren perfekt und zudem sehr nett. Wir mieten diese Wohnung gerne wieder an.

Fenomenaal uitzicht
Het is al vaak gezegd maar het uitzicht is een groot kado. Heerlijk appartement met alles erop en eraan. Rustig gelegen maar dat vinden wij een pré. Het contact met Sue en Martin verliep zeer prettig.

Meteen thuisvoelen met fantastisch uitzicht
Fraai appartement, met alles beschikbaar wat je maar nodig wenst tijdens een (middel-)lang verblijf. Je hoeft feitelijk alleen nog zelf voor eten en drinken te zorgen. Vanuit Dorio zijn alle bijzonderheden rondom het Comomeer prima te bereiken.
Het is wel een hele klim via trappen naar het appartement. Parkeren is soms ook lastig: plek in 't gras vlakbij is soms bezet en draai naar parkeergarage is lastig (stijl en krap). Heerlijke bedden, maar tweepersoonsbed is een beetje kort.

The hosts were amazing, especially when I managed to leave my bag on the train! Sue arranged for someone to bring a spare set! Definately visit again.

Heerlijk verblijf!
We hebben een heerlijk verblijf gehad bij Dorio. Ook met regen maar een goede temperatuur kan je nog steeds fijn gebruik maken van het terras en genieten van het prachtige uitzicht. Alles wat we nodig hadden was aanwezig in de keuken. Bedden sliepen goed. Communicatie vooraf was prima, zowel telefonisch als per mail. Wasmachine aanwezig en toch nog op tijd gemaakt voor ons verblijf. Fijne sfeer in het appartement. Alles bij elkaar een top verblijf een aanrader!

Sehr schöne Wohnung in ruhiger Panoramalage
Sehr gute Lage des Objekts, super Aussicht auf den Comer See mit traumhaften Balkon. Kommunikation mit Vermieterin Sue ebenfalls sehr gut. Einkaufsmöglichkeit in Dorio eher begrenzt, aber Auto geht es gut. Wir kommen gern wieder.

Tolles Appartement in ruhiger Lage mit grandiosem Ausblick
Vom Erstkontakt bis zur Abreise war in dieser Wohnung wirklich alles top. Die Ferienwohnung liegt in einem ruhigen Ort (Dorio) zwischen den mehr touristischen Orten Colico und Dervio. Wenn man mobil ist (Auto, Roller, etc) ist die ruhige Lage absolut kein Problem. Die Wohnung war sehr sauber und wie auf den Bildern beschrieben. Der Kontakt mit den Vermietern findet telefonisch statt und war sehr sympathisch und zuvorkommend. Wir haben uns in dem Appartement sehr wohl gefühlt und können es zu 100% weiterempfehlen. Einziger kleiner Minuspunkt waren die ständigen Internetstörungen dafür kann aber der Vermieter nichts und man hatte dadurch mehr Zeit sich auf die wichtigen Dinge zu konzentrieren.

Beautiful location with all the amenities to make a self catered stay enjoyable and comfortable. Easy access to Milan and St Moritz. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay over Christmas with carols and a band playing downstairs on Christmas Eve. That was lovely and quaint. Shopping centre is really close by and local pizza is fantastic. Very relaxing and peaceful. Sue gave us spot on and precise instructions for everything we needed. Very amenable host. Would definitely return for another visit.

sehr schöne Ferienwohnung mit tollem Blick auf den See
Wir haben eine sehr schöne Woche in der gut ausgestatteten und sehr ansprechenden Wohnung verbracht. Der Ort ist relativ klein und wenig touristisch, was uns aber gerade gefallen hat. Die Wohnung liegt sehr ruhig, vom Balkon hat man einen tollen Blick auf den See. Im Ort gibt es einen Lebensmittelladen mit Bäcker. Man ist mit dem Auto schnell an schönen Stränden (Dervio, Plinio...) und auch im Ort gibt es zwei kleine Strände. Größere Orte mit vielen Attraktionen sind ebenfalls schnell erreichbar.

Beautiful property overlooking Lake Como!
This property is absolutely amazing it's cozy and comfortable with two bedrooms and one bathroom with a shower & washer. The kitchen is supplied well. Great location to explore towns near the property it's not very long drive to St Moritz possibly 1 hour and 20 minutes at the most! Although property managers live in another country they are always available and we're very helpful. I would definitely rent this place again although I

What a lovely property! The manager was so wonderful in instructions prior to arrival. The view is beautiful and though there were so many things to do in the area, once there, we were tempted to just cook and enjoy the place and the view!! This is a gem of a place and I can only hope to be so lucky to return some day!

We found this a great place to relax, especially sitting on the deck overlooking Lake Como in all its different personalities from hour to hour and day to day. The kitchen is well equipped and the leather couches comfortable. Although Sue and Martin live far from their condo, they responded promptly to requests for assistance. We discovered the one-hour hike from the condo up the mountain only late in our stay: it was exhilarating and afforded stunning views of the lake. The bakery lady in Dorio was friendly and helpful. Our two favorite restaurants in the vicinity were the castle restaurant in Corenno Plinio and Il Crottini. The local fare and service were truly memorable. Our stay was delightful and we would highly commend this place to others.
