About this house rental
Summary:
A historic home completely renovated by 2 designers as a place to enjoy unique Lancaster experiences with your family. Built in 1840 and originally owned by Miss Hetty [President James Buchanan's housekeeper]. The home is centrally located and a short walk to everything from F&M, central market, coffee shops, restaurants, shops, galleries and bars.
A fully furnished, rustic modern home boasting 3 full bedrooms with queen beds, 1.5 baths, and attic loft with trundle bed, accommodating 8 guests.~
The Space //
The Hetty House is a recently restored and renovated historic home with no attention to detail missed. Our goal was to create a space where guests can create their own experiences and memories -- hopefully inspiring them to come back again and again.
Home Features //
All three bedrooms on the second floor have queen beds, 1200 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets and comforter and new cool gel memory foam mattresses with multiple pillows. Each closet has hangers, luggage racks and full length mirrors.
The attic loft has a trundle bed [2 twin beds] and desk, a perfect place for writing and taking in the space.
The full bath includes a glass enclosure tub and shower, double sink marble top vanity and marble flooring. Plenty of towels are supplied for all guests. There is a half bath on the first floor under the stairs.
The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, utensils, plates, glasses, wine glasses, cooking dishes and more.
The dining room has plenty of room for dining for guests with 2 extensions and extra seating. You may also choose to dine or enjoy morning coffee on the private backyard patio or on the balcony.
Technology has been incorporated throughout the house with a nest thermostat and smoke detectors, Sonos speakers throughout that you can control from the houses iPad. A 60" TV is perfect to relax and enjoy your favorite movie or shows in the living room with guest access to Netflix and Hulu.
The basement has a full size washer and dryer and an ironing board and iron.
Restoration Process //
We took great attention to detail in bringing back the original character and charm of the home through preserving the chandeliers, refinishing the original hardwood floor, entry mosaic and trim details. The home is a mix of restored elements, contemporary finishes, found objects and family collections that we just love. Enjoy the high ceilings throughout and perfectly curated areas to relax, recharge and enjoy!
We encourage you to explore the amazing city of Lancaster and enjoy the unique cafes, restaurants, shops, farmland and culture that makes it so special.
As someone who grew up in Lancaster I hope you appreciate and love it as much as I do and fall in love city~

Historic Home
House was in great areas, cool little details to explore.
Only bad things, Couldn't find any forks. Knives or sppons entire time and there wasn't a welcoming book with details for wifi, cleaning up and local places to eat.
Parking was hard to find.
Overall, very clean and great place, owners great to work with.

Beautiful stay
We were in Lancaster for a conference located at the Convention Center. This is close enough to walk, if the weather permits. The welcome into the home was thoughtful, beautiful and peaceful. We were able to grab groceries at the Lancaster market and a local store, walk to coffee, bakeries, and dinner. The weather was unusually warm (high 90’s) a couple of days and the downstairs stayed cool and the bedrooms that would’ve been warm had A/C. The ones that didn’t had fans, which were helpful. If we find ourselves in Lancaster again, our entire group would love to stay here again. We just loved our stay and this peaceful home with such rich history!!!

gorgeous, fun, nicely renovated, clean, and well located
This property is terrific for the history buff/those who enjoy the latest in HGTV style. Very well appointed and situated. Highly recommended for groups traveling with need for private spaces to rest and unwind/bedrooms are private and lovely. Very limited LR seating, so not great for family reunion style activities or board games and such, more for cocktails and formal gatherings.
