The staff was hospitable, the proximity to the beach and the safety of the area by good job of the security.
It is also quite peaceful for privacy and reflection.
The availability of personnel to assist with obtaining beach chairs or any additional information about where to dine.

Great location, staff helpful and very friendly.
Love the Sur la mer too.
Booking price was more than expected after extra charges. Would have been nice to know in advance. Especially for 2 days

Great beach; Hotel is only a few km from St. George's; many rooms have view over the sea; staff were very helpful; food in the restaurant was excellent.
There were no shops and only one very limited restaurant closer than 1.5 km up and down hills. Thus, we ended up eating most meals in the hotel restaurant, which was good but somewhat expensive. For our first night, our reservation was overlooked and no room was available at the Gem. We were accommodated at the hotel next door.

Breakfast was good value
Facilities were 1950ish. Rooms were a little cramped and it took a while to figure out the hot water, but as a place near the beach it filled the bill.

Amazing staff, so welcoming and friendly. Helped me celebrate my birthday. Sorted out an upgrade for us no problem. Helped us arrange trips and even a pizza delivery. Lovely people. Ocean view rooms are fantastic, lovely big balcony to watch the sunset and relax.
The only thing I would say is book a room that looks out onto the sea. We originally had a garden view room, which was fine but the balcony looked onto a brick wall so we didn't sit out there. The sea view room balconies, however, are amazing!

The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The beach is near.
It needs to be renovated. There weren’t any sockets in the bedroom to charge your devices. I had to unplug the toaster in the kitchenette and use that socket to charge my phone. The tv was one of those old TVs- which is fine; but I couldn’t turn the volume down and it kept making a high pitch sound.

location on the beach, amenities, friendliness and professionalism of the staff.
I had to get transportation to go every where and I don’t drive in unfamiliar countries.

Lots of space. I had two rooms with a kitchen in between, a balcony and 2 mins drive from a decent enough shopping area. I especially liked that not only is it 2 mins drive/ten minutes walk to what is allegedly a top ten Caribbean beach where the likes of Radisson etc are charging loads but the actual beach this place is on, I thought, was more beautiful and less busy/commercial. Plus it's run by strong women, as everywhere decent in The Windwards is. I've travelled all the way up from here to Antigua over three months and yep, it's solid and more than comparatively affordable for what it offers.
The furniture/fixtures/fitting always seems to be dated in the Caribbean. Everywhere you go and I mean EVERYwhere (apart from massively premium hotels at four times the price) this is the case. A little rust here, am uncomfortable settee there, but, you need somewhere as a base, not a foxhole to hide in.

lovely secluded location on Morne Rough beach with a bar and restaurant next to the hotel. beach was calm and lovely. staff all extremely helpful and friendly.
rooms are pretty dated (but everything functions so nothing to worry about). bit of a long walk to the nearest bus stop (c20-30 mins - very scenic so actually nice if you enjoy walking about)

First of all, the staff at Gems were great. Always ready to help you with plans of getting a taxi or getting a tour of the island. Very friendly people! That also includes the bar and restaurant staff also. Very nice people that work there! The place is also by an excellent beach that is good for swimming or kayaking. This beach is not very touristy but it is not void of people either. In the morning there are not too many people here but in the afternoon people like to gather here. After sunset it becomes quiet again. This is also a place for some very colorful sunsets. Also, the rooms for the most part were nice. It has a nice refrigerator and the air conditioning worked good. At about midnight, I didn't need the air conditioner on. It was cool enough. Also, the restaurant for the most part offered some good meals. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I thought their lunch and dinner options beat there breakfast options.
I'm a pretty big guy and my feet were hanging at the end of the bed. If you are under 5'10 ft, this would not be a problem. Otherwise, the beds were comfortable. The water ranged from cold to very hot depending on the time of day. It seemed that in peek hours you couldn't get any hot water. Sometimes it wasn't even warm. At other times you can have very hot water if that's what you like!

The beech is so much better than Grand Anse. Local feel and great beech bar. Rooms offer great views.
Best WiFi ever in any hotel I have visited. Breakfast was good value. Reception went the extra mile to help with transport etc.
Bit dated decor but at the price you cannot complain

The true Gem of this property is the Staff, from the moment we arrived we were and continued to be greeted with the warmest of greetings from everyone. Our room was spacious, (if you're after an ocean view proper, get the anything on the 3floor, thou we thoroughly enjoyed our room) exceptionally clean, well stocked, (FYI no Blender we were looking to make margaritas) and comfortable enough for us (2). The AC works quite well in the bedroom- be warned MOZZIES, yes the furniture is dated but, but never really used it, who's got time to sit on chair/couch whilst in GRENADA! BBC beach is a "state of mind"......how gorgeous it was to have bake (TO DIE FOR) every morning on the counter overlooking the beach. Every aspect of our stay was a Gem. Recommend a car, or the staff will gladly arrange a car for you.
Our mattress was left be desired, perhaps screen doors along with the front sliding door, seems a shame to waste all the good night sea breeze whilst trying to keep the your room mozzie free.

Room was great, lots of space, Was in quarantine for 2 days, staff went above and beyond, very friendly. Followed all quarantine guidelines, checked on me for meal orders and delivered meals to my room. Food was great and plenty of it!!
AC unit in the bedroom struggled a bit to keep things cool. 1st night was ok, 2nd night was a bit warmer.

Spacious apartment with the most helpful and friendly house keeper.
The place was clean but the decor needed to be upgraded.
There was AC only in the bed room making the rest of the apartment very warm.
Mosquitoes bites was a huge problem in the apartment.
