Location.Character.Comfortable bed.Clean.Good breakfast.Polite helpful staff.
Shower room very cramped with extremely low ceiling.
Waited 45 minutes after starter at dinner for simple main courses to arrive. Food good but nothing to get excited about.

A wonderful host and staff, very welcoming. The food was sensational as well as our room. We will hopefully get to stay again.

The bed was very comfortable and the facilities were adequate for my needs. The best part was dinner (not included in the cost). The food at The Old Black Lion is amazing. High quality restaurant food at pub prices. The management was proactive to reach out to me to schedule dinner reservations since they are generally needed on Friday nights.
The price of the room was very high in comparison to similar facilities I stayed in during the same trip. This was likely due to supply and demand since there were very few rooms to be had in Hay that night.

Brilliant old B&B in a great location, friendly and helpful staff, comfortable room and delicious breakfast at a reasonable price.
We had a wedding, and asked if we could check in before the allotted time and they went above and beyond to make sure our room was turned around and ready first.
Thanks for making the weekend brilliant!
The on site parking was a bit tight. This isn't a detractor or a fault of the B&B in away way more of an observation to arrive early!

Great service
Problematic WiFi sign in, Leaking shower, power cuts and ants on the breakfast plate.

Lovely room, great breakfast good location

Location, old building, albeit very low ceilings. Nice freshly cooked breakfast, nice dinner.
The ceiling height in the downstairs part of the bathroom was very low - didn't like the split level, difficult to navigate

The restaurant was excellent, it had a fairly short menu that aimed(in our opinion) to do a few things well, with high quality ingredients rather than a longer mediocre menu of standard pub food.
The service at breakfast was a bit hit and miss. Coffee rather than tea, some breakfast items served when asked not to and others never arriving. To be honest it wasn’t really a problem as they were very busy.

Attractive period hotel, with parking, on edge of Hay on Wye. Nice room within annexe. Good food (we enjoyed the set Sunday menu)

Central location
On arrival for a special occasion , I was told over the bar at check in that my card had been declined. It was in fact their error and the full payment was taken 4 weeks prior, not a big deal but wasn’t the nice start to our weekend.

early closing bar and not enough electrical sockets

A pub full of character five minutes from the town.

The staff was very welcoming. They had gluten free options at all meal times and the food was great.
You need to watch your head a lot but that comes with it being an old building.

Everything about this place is brilliant. Super - helpful and flexible. The staff are tremendous and the food there is brilliant - chef is really talented
There was nothing to dislike. It's probably the best place to stay in Hay - and we have stayed in most places there over the decades

The hotel is in an excellent position with free parking on site. There was a great atmosphere in the hotel, the restaurant was very good with delicious food and delightful female wait staff.
My greeting when I arrived was less than welcoming and the young male waiter needs to be educated about serious food allergies I.e. they are not a joke.

Historic 1300s era property with lots of quirks but great location and charm. Excellent wifi and modern if small bathroom.
Only one available outlet in the room made it challenging to charge the 5 devices we brought. I realize it’s hard to bring new power into a building this old, but USB ports would be easy to add.
