*** GETTING AROUND ***
A rental car is highly recommended. Taxi cabs are unreliable and expensive outside of town and Seven Mile Beach. Plus, there is no Uber or Lyft on the island. For rental cars, we recommend Budget Cayman (20% off promo code provided after booking!), Marshalls, or Hertz.
*** VILLA CLEANING ***
All villas are cleaned and sanitized before each guest's arrival. We also ask our owners to provide a starter supply of extra cleaning products. Additional housekeeping services can be purchased after booking in 3-hour time blocks. Scheduling may be coordinated with your property manager upon arrival.
*** BEACH NOTES ***
All beaches in Grand Cayman are technically public since the Queen owns up to the high watermark. Be advised, the beach or water entry behind your property may vary slightly from the images displayed due to weather. The next-door beach is also always available for your use.
*** OCEAN DEBRIS & SARGASSUM ***
Beaches in Grand Cayman may also experience floating ocean debris and sargassum weed seasonally. Sargassum is a generally harmless floating seaweed that has increased over the summer months. Our owners make efforts to remove heavy sargassum and will have the beach raked before your arrival.
Should sargassum be extremely heavy behind your property, we will contact the owner for alternative solutions, which may include a partial refund or relocation. We try our best to work around Mother Nature.

Our stay at Thatch Hill was enjoyable. We were forwarned about the construction next door, and other than the banging, it was interesting to watch the progress. The crew there was very respectful, so no worries. Interior of house will need some attention or redecoration, but nothing that detracted from a beautiful location. Love the Caymans!

We really enjoyed this small, lovely home on the water during our stay in Cayman. The snorkeling right in front of the house is fabulous, the pool is clean and well maintained, and the kitchen well equipped. We’d recommend this as a rental to a family.

Grand Cayman Vacation
The residence was average at best. Needed updates and minor maintenance.

Beautiful property!
Our family had a great time staying at this beautiful property! Each day, we snorkeled right outside the house and enjoyed all of the marine life! We saw eels, rays, many fish and on the last day we snorkeled over closer to Rum Point and saw a six foot nurse shark! We have traveled many places and this, by far, was the safest and most fun snorkeling.
The house was great and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay! We mainly hung out at the house enjoying the pool and snorkeling but also took a charter out to stingray city, visited starfish point and the botanical gardens. Hurley’s was the best store for purchasing groceries. Highly recommend!

Romantic Ocean Escape!
We loved this property - it was perfect and the pool and ocean just fabulous!!

Nice view. Lot of sea weed
A nice home and an excellent beach. Fantastic view. Our only downside was the week we were there the water was pretty rough and had a lot of sea weed. Though it appeared to be calming down and clearing up the day we left. Maybe we were there on an off week, but all of rum point and the east coast had a lot of sea weed right off the beach when we were there.

This will be our go to place
We finally got to return to Cayman after a three year absence and couldn’t have been luckier than to have found Thatch Hill. It is the perfect size for a small family and in an ideal location. We loved being able to swim in the pool and see and hear the ocean at the same time, the snorkeling was fabulous as usual, and everything was clean and modern. We’re already talking about booking our trip next year. Highly recommend!!

Family trip
We all truly enjoyed our time here on Grand Cayman and in Thatch Hill. Our ability to truly get away and enjoy the natural elements surrounding the house allowed us all to relax and take in the sights and sounds. It was such a great experience being able to head into Georgetown or the West End, visit the shops and restaurants, and then return to a private retreat. The amenities provided at the home were wonderful opportunities to create lasting memories whether bounding along the pool or playing games around the dinner table. Thatch Hill’s proximity to Rum Point was a highlight because it allowed us to frequent local places and enjoy all that the island has to offer.

Thatch Hill house
Had a great stay at Thatch Hill house. Very well appointed house with beautiful beach and pool. Silver Thatch staff were very helpful and property manager Judy was very responsive.

Fantastic!
Thatch Hill was great! Clean, all the necessities, quiet location, wonderful view, etc! Scott and Judy were extremely helpful with any and everything we needed before our travel as well as when we were there. The home has a great island feel and has everything in the kitchen that will make you feel at home. The pool was kept very clean and the kids had a blast. Our family (5 year old boy and 7 year old girl) always like to have a private home w/ a pool when we travel so we are never constrained with swimming and "loud family fun times!" And this was yet another vacation that did not disappoint! One thing to consider is that being this close to the ocean is that it was a tad windy but prevented us from getting too hot. Also, the beach at the bottom of the stairs (off the pool) is wonderful and has clean sand where the kids, and even adults, can play. The closer you get to the ocean is does get rocky. I even managed to cut my foot within the first 10 minutes we were there. Learned my lesson:) We still managed to get in the ocean and had a great time. It's a very short drive to Rum Point where there is some great things to do. If considering Thatch Hill for your family, we would highly recommend it. Definitely wonderful!!!! We already miss it!

Great Family Location In the Grand Cayman
Thatch Hill was fantastic. My wife and I were there with our oldest daughter and her two kids. It is on the quiet North side close to Rum Point (short walk). What a great way to spend time. Having the screened porch was great in the morning. The deck was great in the afternoon with shade and almost always a nice breeze to keep it close to comfortable. The pool was wonderful. Nice to take a dip in the pool when it is hot. The house is set up nicely with great air conditioning. It is fully equipped with what you need to cook. The exterior area is well maintained and nicely raked. Did not have a bunch of debris in the yard like so many others have. The master bed was pretty comfortable. The twin beds are quite firm. However, the on-island manager purchased a foam topper so that they were comfortable. The snorkeling was pretty good right out the back door. We had to kind of go searching the area a little to find a lot of nice coral and fish. As soon as you find the coral, you find the fish. We rented snorkel gear, stand up paddle board and 2 person kayak. For our take on the close by eating establishments, the Wreck Bar at Rum Point is pretty good. The Restaurant there is good but pricey. The Kaibo Restaurant was awful. The outside tables were dirty and the food was not good with the exception of the pizza. The drinks were nothing special. For overall good eating, the Calypso Bar and Grill was fantastic. We chartered the boat that is available through Grand Cayman Villas to take us from Rum Point across the bay to the restaurant. Fantastic time. Also, we chartered the same boat for the stingray city, snorkel and starfish point. The boat is very nice and the Captain was fantastic. Highly recommend the boat charters. All in all, no doubt we would rent this house if we return to Grand Cayman.

We loved Thatch Hill. The location met all of our requirements – privacy, quiet and convenience. The house is a standalone house with a swimming pool, right on the ocean with a small sandy beach and walk in access to good snorkeling. It's a charming 2 bedroom, 2 bath beach cottage with porches all around the house. The front and side porch is open (sunset views through the trees) and the large screened in porch in the back (dining for 6, lounge chairs for 2) faces the pool and beach. The pool deck had lounge chairs for 4 and the beach had 2 or 3 lounge chairs. There are several good restaurants nearby. Rum Point, with its 2 restaurants is within walking distance (less than a mile), Kaibo, with its 2 restaurants is a long walk or 5 minute drive away and several other good places to eat are within a 20 to 30 minute drive. We were two adult couples for the first week and then just DH and me for the second. The bedrooms, each with a full bath, were separated by the large kitchen/dining/living room. There was privacy; however, the doors were louvered (great for airflow) so some sound from the shared space carried into the bedrooms. Those of us who slept in could hear breakfast being prepared but since most of the time everyone was out on the screened in porch this was not a problem. In addition to a sliding door to the porch from the living room each bedroom also had a porch door. The house was clean, comfortable and fully stocked with everything you would need to prepare meals and we had breakfast at the house everyday and at most one other meal out each day. We are seriously considering renting it again next year even though we have a "rule" against repeats.

Thatch Hill had everything we had hoped to find on this vacation: privacy, peace and quiet, a magnificent view of the sea, our own pool & easy access to tennis. The sea across the pool could be seen from every room – so I did not have to be out in the heat to enjoy the view. The décor was a fun, colorful Caribbean. Several places to sit and read – comfortable Adirondack chairs on the front porch, chaise lounges in back by the pool overlooking the sea. Comfy beds, plentiful towels and linens; very clean and looked recently renovated. Kitchen area was big enough for all 3 of us to putter around. Many books on the shelf so we put aside our Kindles. AC worked great. Likewise the washer, dryer & wifi. Plenty of hot water in the nicely appointed showers. Amazing to be able to go out snorkeling from the back porch & not have to lug our gear into the car, or have to figure out what to do with our car key, money, etc, while snorkeling or take a long boat ride. Sometimes several hours after we had snorkeled, we decided to head in again, it was just so lovely! We saw a lot of fish, & some interesting formations, perhaps not as many as when we've gone on a snorkel boat tour, but having such easy access was so special. Not the amount of restaurants that you'll find in busy Georgetown (best fish tacos at Sunset House) or 7 mile beach, but still plenty to choose from. We went to the Lighthouse, Over the Edge, Kaibo, Wreck Bar, Rum Point Club, Tukka, BigTree Barbeque. Rum Point was a 5 minute walk along the road & a bit longer walking (wearing sandals with toe guards) along the rocky beach-it's a lovely spot to watch the sunsets. This is a marine area with sharp rocky outcroppings, so if you're looking for miles of wide sandy beach to walk along, this may not be for you. However, with proper shoes you can still walk at length along the beach, & in fact the sand between the pool and the sea was quite soft & clean so there's plenty of room to sit out there if desired. We played tennis every day on a court we were able to rent for the week; just a short walk from the house. We used our rental car to explore the island, Botanical Gardens, Mastic Trail, East End, West Bay. But best of all was just being at Thatch Hill! A special thank you to Jim, Scott, Grace and Didi at Cayman Villas for their superb customer service & the extensive island information they provided; also to manager Judy, who stood by to assist on the island. We hope to return!

Awesome
If you are looking to get away from the crowds - this is the perfect house! Upon entering the house, you are greeted with fantastic views of the Caribbean Ocean through the back windows and sliding doors. The main room is an open floor plan which includes the sitting area and the kitchen. We cooked alot of our meals here and the kitchen is very well equipped with all necessities. There are 2 bedroom units - one on either side of the main room which really allows alot of privacy. Both bedrooms have sliding glass doors that exit onto the screened porch and allow beautiful ocean views to fill the rooms. The pool was saltwater and a fantastic amenity - it is in the full sun in the morning and then starts to become shady in the afternoon. The beach in front of the house is one of the best for snorkeling - mostly calm water and reef protected! The house is also very close to Rum Point and Kaibo Resort. Grand Cayman Villa's were great to work with - easy check in process, offered a ton of information and they also have an "on island" rep that checked in on us and also was very helpful! Cannot wait to go back - already booked for next year!
