About this house rental
Relax and enjoy this comfortable, clean, light and airy beach house one street from the pristine blue waters of Eagle Bay beach. The home features two bedrooms with queen-sized beds and another bedroom with two single bunk beds. Fall asleep to the sounds of the ocean.
The kitchen, laundry, and bathroom have all had updates recently. The kitchen is fully equipped, including a new cooktop and oven, quality saucepans and knives.
A Danish wood-burning stove provides winter warmth and cosiness in the open-plan living-dining area. There are indoor and outdoor bathrooms and a BBQ deck for relaxed cooking and entertaining.
A natural bush garden surrounds the beach house and attracts a large variety of native birds that you can watch either from the deck or through the windows. These include Splendid Blue Fairy Wrens, Carnaby Cockatoos and New Holland Honey Eaters.
Gecko Beach House is close to many amenities. There are stunning national parks with coastal and bush walking tracks nearby, including the Meelup Trail, Cape Naturalist Track and Bunker Bay Loop. The area comes alive with carpets of coastal wildflowers in spring.
Gecko Beach House is close to some of the best surf breaks in the Southwest, with Rocky Point only a few minutes walk away. There are excellent places to fish, both from the beach and coastal rocks.
You can see whales from the whale-watching platform at Point Piquet or off Eagle Bay Beach during their migratory months (June to November). Species include humpbacks, southern right whales and blue whales. Between August and November, they will often have newborn calves with them. Guests can book whale-watching tours from Dunsborough or Busselton.
Eagle Bay Beach is sheltered from the prevailing south-westerly breeze, perfect for swimming, beach activities and picnics. It often has a creek running across the sand, which is great for kids to build dams and channels. There are numerous inshore reefs for snorkelling. For the more experienced, you can dive on the wreck of the HMAS Swan - dive tours are available from Dunsborough.
Dunsborough is only a 10-minute drive away along the magnificent Eagle Bay-Meelup Road that winds along the coastline, passing Point Piquet and Meelup Beach. This road provides arguably one of the most scenic drives in WA, with the vivid turquoise waters contrasting with the blazing white sand, ochre rocks and bright green vegetation, in a stunning display of the natural beauty of Cape Naturaliste. Once you are in Dunsborough, enjoy the local scene, which includes coffee shops, restaurants, supermarkets, surf, and fashion shops.
You can also take the inland road to Dunsborough, passing Wise’s Winery and the Eagle Bay Brewery. Other nearby local attractions include Meelup Farm Restaurant and Eagle Bay Olive Farm. Further up the Cape is Bunker Bay Beach with the Bunker Bay Café and Bunker Bay Resort. Venture further afield to explore many more world-class wineries and restaurants in the Margaret River area.
Please be aware that there is intentionally no TV at Gecko Beach House. Our guests often give feedback about how great it is to disconnect, unwind, and enjoy board games, music, reading or just great conversations with family or friends. We do have free WiFi.
We provide doonas, pillows, linen and tea towels, but please BYO your beach towels. If you don’t use all the bedrooms during your stay, we will refund a proportion of the linen fee with your deposit.

A contemplative experience with simple basic pleasures.

Super cool beach house, great location. A short walk to Eagle Bay beach perfect for an arvo drink and swim. Short drive to the waves of the northern end of the cape. Hits the sweet spot between dad's surfing, mum's walk, teens cafe's and wholesome family time.

Wonderful week
Lovely quiet location a short walk from the beach. Despite the wintery weather the whole family had a wonderful time, plenty of walks with the dog, surfing, games and chatting round the fire. We will definitely be back.

Good location improvement required
Shower did not drain well, taps zapped us. One of the lights in the room did not work properlyDeck is old and needs work. House had no downpipes. Water dropping on the deck was really loud since there are no downpipes. Are where the key lock box is was totally flooded since there is no down pipe.

Eagle Bay Secret
Gecko is a great property for a break away from the day-to-day grind. Clean, comfortable and close to the beach - the property is well described and will suit those who aren't in need of high maintenance. We look forward to a return visit.

A true holiday house
We loved this place. With attention to natural and quality utensils and furnishings it was superbly furnished and simple.
It brought back memories of summer holidays before air con, insulation and mod cons became a common addition to holidays houses and as a result, was at times hot (no air con) and we had to open up the house or guess what.... go to the beach to cool down!
I loved staying here. The sofas and chairs are super comfortable. The deck is rustic and is the perfect viewing point for the black cockatoos, blue wrens, blue tongue lizard, parrots and various other animals who love the nature garden.
The beds were comfortable. The 70s tiles, laminate and design were super cool. The additional outdoor shower and loo looking out at the stars was an added bonus.
The only negative was waiting until 4pm for the cleaners to finish before we could check in.
Thanks for a great and very relaxing week.

Family stay in Eagle Bay
Good facilities for a family in a fantastic location in eagle bay. We have 2 young children who loved the bunk beds and the ability to play the games and puzzles that were kindly left out. It is an easy walk to the beach, even for the just turned 3 year old, so we made the most of that. We saw whales from the shore and enjoyed walking (or running) the surrounding coastal and bushland trails. Thanks Peter for leaving out the Cape to Cape book for us to make use of. We would love to come back for sure!

Perfect hideaway
We loved how this place is nestled into a native garden - with winter sun beaming in, birds singing and the fire roaring! It's is so close to the beach but is the perfect little hideaway.

Great location, 5 minutes walk from the beach.
Great house and facilities. Sadly, the floors had not been washed and were very dirty. Overall the house was fine but not particularly clean.
