About this cottage rental
A stay in our 1,200 sq. ft. guest cottage will help make any visit to Indianapolis one to remember. Located on a nine acre country estate just twenty minutes east of downtown Indianapolis, Buck Creek Cottage offers both business and vacation guests a great opportunity to experience the city and relax in the country.
Built in 1994, the cottage is just fifty feet from our private two acre stocked lake, so bring your fishing gear. As the photos illustrate , the cottage is fully furnished with the newest amenities. A central heating and air conditioning system ensures that your stay will be comfortable winter or summer.
Over three acres of maintained grounds and gardens offer the perfect setting for a comfortable evening at home after visiting the sites and offerings of Indianapolis.
While most of Indianapolis' finest restaurants are located less than twenty minutes away, a fully equipped modern kitchen that includes a five burner gas range, double stainless steel sinks, ample counter and prep surfaces and full size dishwasher and refrigerator offers an easy alternative to eating out. An outdoor gas grill is provided in case your cooking preference is grilling.
If you're interested in golf, a dozen courses are within a twenty minute drive.
If shopping is your sport, Indianapolis' best shopping locations are all within a twenty-thirty minute drive. Grocery stores, pharmacies, and general sundries, as well as pizza and other fast food, are all less than five minutes away.
Wi-fi and cable service are included, and a large HD flat screen offers the option to just stay home and take it easy if you're so inclined.
One bedroom is furnished with a king-size bed while the other contains a pair of twin beds. Two roll away beds can be used to sleep up to six adults. We also provide camp air mattresses for children and a Pack and Play, with mattress, for toddlers.
As photo #15 shows, the linear layout of the cottage's one bathroom permits simultaneous and comfortable usage of the walk-in shower and sink.
The entry area to the cottage contains a large dining area and breakfast counter and an open pass through to the kitchen area for easy service. The living room is located just off the dining area, and the combination offers the opportunity to entertain a small group of friends or family if desired.
While most of the lake's shoreline is maintained in its natural state, a cantilevered deck is located at the shoreline nearest the cottage for fishing, swimming, or sunbathing. Adirondack chairs and a picnic table are also available to ensure your time outdoors at Buck Creek Cottage is as comfortable and enjoyable as your time indoors.
A large fire pit located near the cantilevered deck is provided for those evenings under the stars. Firewood is provided for a couple of fires.
Please note that the pictures include photos of the property's main residence to show the grounds and gardens and facilitate easier identification of the property as the cottage sits fifty yards behind the main house and a hundred yards from Buck Creek Road. The cottage address is 384 Buck Creek Rd., Indianapolis, IN, 46229. Use this address, and either Google Maps or Waze will direct you to the driveway of the main house. Park at the end of the driveway, and you'll see the cottage immediately ahead.
We look forward to your visit.

The property was clean and cozy. We stayed for a extended weekend. Fishing was great and the fire pit was a plus. Easy drive to the city.

We had a wonderful time. The hosts were very helpful and kind. This house has everything you will ever need and then some. The fishing was amazing and our 8 year old didn’t want to leave and told us it was “the best time of his life.” We definitely want to come again. Thanks, Buck Creek Cottage!

Our family had a wonderful time on this small, peaceful lake. The owners could not have been more friendly and responsive. Communication was great. They supplied fishing poles, a nice canoe, and plenty of wood for the firepit. Property was well maintained and had everything we needed for the kitchen, bathroom and bedrooms. Close to Indy, but the neighborhood was nice and quiet with a park nearby with walking trails and tennis courts. We will definitely look to stay here again.

Great property, thoroughly enjoyed. We enjoyed time out on the pond everyday of our 10 day visit on tubes.
Fishing was great, we caught large mouth bass, medium to large catfish and lots of bluegill. Can't catch much without live bait though, "the bobbershop" has a 24/7 vending machine with live bait about 15 minutes away.
Less than 10 minutes from 4-5 grocery stores.
In indy we visited the childrens museum, zoo and did a couple canal boat rides on the swan boats for healthy fun and exercise. visited the sailors and soldiers monument and 9/11 memorial to share some history and pay our respects.
The cabin has a couple quirks... dishwasher only can be started if the door is completely closed before pressing start, which requires some small fingers. Hot water in the shower is hit or miss if the dishwasher is on, easy to plan accordingly though.
Larry and Margo are great hosts and were quick to help whenever we needed anything. we enjoyed visiting with them when we ran into them and learning how the pond was built and all that went into this unique property. Was nice of them to even do our laundry and share some tasty homemade cookies!
Fishing rods and reels are in one of the closets if you are short on space.
Abundant brush areas for privacy conscious dogs to tend to business.
All in all a real hidden gem of Indy with everything needed to explore the city and relax on the pond at home base

The cabin was absolutely perfect for our trip to Indianapolis!!! We came to see the Olympic Swim Trials and loved the cabin and lake so much we could have just stayed there all weekend! Our children loved catching huge bluegills and had an awesome time catching some big bass!!!! The cabin was great. Communication with the owner was practically instantaneous. I would recommend this property to everyone and i hope we can make it back someday!!! 10/10!!

This was a fishing trip for me and my dad. He's getting older and not in good health. We wanted someplace fairly close that was comfortable and had good access to do some fishing. This place was perfect. When we arrived, we met the hosts, Larry and Margo, and they could not have been more pleasant. Absolutely lovely people. The cottage was very nice and clean and had everything we needed. My sister lives close to the place, and they were more than okay with her and her family stopping by to visit for a few hours. We spent most of our time sitting on the dock fishing. My dad has mobility issues, and their dock is perfect and easily accessible. It was some of the best fishing we've ever done! I was worried about just sitting there for hours a day, not catching anything, but we did so well that I had to make another run to get more bait. We couldn't keep up. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I highly recommend it.

A buddy and I rented this as a gathering spot to meet up and stay for the Indy 500 weekend… When we arrived, we were pleasantly impressed on just how beautiful and quiet the spot was… The hosts greeted us and were very hospitable, anything we needed or had a question they were able to accommodate us… The Race weekend my buddy and I planned was great and couldn’t be more happier with this cottage… We definitely recommend it and if my buddy and I are able to, we will book it for next year… Thank you so much Larry and Margo for a great experience…

There is nothing less than unforgettable to describe this experience. You’ve totally forgotten you’ve just driven into a population of almost one million when you pull up to the Buck Creek Cottage. The moon shining on the water in the backyard when we arrived made me not want to go to bed after being in the car for ten hours. The geese welcomed us the next morning, to their surprise, my preschooler shared a morning run with them. The cottage is fully equipped. There were amenities like even a Bluetooth speaker (which we didn’t use) but could easily turn a nice quiet afternoon into any appropriate celebration.
Comforts which reminded me of home were the candle jars I enjoyed. The rising morning/ setting son is positioned in the most desirable places in the cottage. The French doors to the dayroom help make a private space for movie time. Plentiful seating and wifi for gaming. Six seated dining/ three barstools in foyer area, accommodated additional family guests we were lucky to visit. I easily had three children under the age of ten who had plenty of outdoor space encompassing the yard around the cottage. Lovely trees, tall cat tails, birds, and squirrels. One black and white cat sadly showed us their hunting skills needed some polishing lol. We stayed three extra unplanned nights, which were able to be accommodated luckily. Larry and Margo complemented their sweet cottage with their personal touches to make our stay forever memorable.

We came to watch the total eclipse. We drove in and had everything we needed and never had to leave the premises. The tv was great for watching the final four basketball games, the kitchen had everything needed including spices. But the dock was the ultimate for viewing the eclipse with wonderful chairs. We felt like we were in the middle of nowhere with more than enough geese, birds and fish. I can’t thank the owners enough for giving us sole use of the dock on this big day and delicious cookies!

We just had our first VRBO vacation. It was AWESOME!!!! So relaxing. So clean. The home owners were an absolute dream from scheduling to answering questions after our arrival. We were greeted with a delicious plate of homemade cookies and a personal note from the owners. The pond was well-stocked, just as promised. We didn’t have any issues with our stay, but if we had I feel certain they would have been handled promptly and efficiently. I am already looking forward to our next trip to Indianapolis and staying at the cottage on a 2-acre pond!!!

My husband and I are Colts Season Ticket holders and came in on Friday 9/8 for the Colts vs Jags game. We are from VA and were tired of staying in hotels. This property and hosts ~ Larry and Margo ~ are simply awesome. There are not enough adjectives to describe them nor the property. It is located in an idyllic setting and it is an oasis of tranquility near Indy. The grounds are beautiful! Margo met us with some freshly picked tomatoes ~ and made us feel instantly at home. Margo and Larry really care about their guests and make that fact instantly known. When you go inside ~ the cottage has an open floor plan and is stocked with everything you will ever need. The internet is extremely fast and the TV is wonderful. The kitchen and bathroom are very well stocked with all the necessities you will ever need. The beds are comfortable as they can be.
Let’s move to the outside! The setting is gorgeous with a large pond located in the back. There is a deck with Adirondack chairs and a very large fire pit. We had a former student and her family over Saturday evening to fish. We had a blast! We caught many Blue Gill and one large catfish. It was a great time for all of us! The fishing is superb. If you would like ~ you may swim and use the canoe. We just fished and it was fabulous. Margo even said our guest could spend the night ~ but they live in Anderson and went on home. It was a great evening.
The day of the game was seamless. Property rates more than 5 stars!

I can say that the pictures do not do this place justice! It was bigger than we expected and the dog enclosure was a life savor for our busy mornings! They have many “isn’t that convenient” items in the house (baggies, pooppouri, filtered water) available that were nice touches. We brought a raft and floated around the pond which left us all with an amazing golden tan! This was our first stay with the owners on the property and it was no different as them being neighbors. Also would like to mention that Margo met us when we arrived and initially I felt welcomed and at home. Lawrence is just as wonderful and I can not recommend this little hidden treasure as a place to stay. You are in a country setting but within 5 minutes have every major grocery store/shopping available! 12/10 would recommend this place again and would jump at the chance to book again shall we be back in the area!

Place was clean, comforting, and had everything we needed to enjoy the stay. I would highly recommend and will likely find myself back here next year!

We had an amazing time at this little slice of heaven on earth. We were in town for a National Bowling tournament which is a very hectic week. It was so wonderful to come back to this little cottage and relax while the kids fished. The owners have literally thought of everything so we didn’t have to worry! We had 2 campfires and spent most of our downtime outside enjoying the beautiful weather.

Stayed for 3 nights with my 80 year old mother, two teenage kids, and a four year old. The property is beautiful and feels private and isolated. You would never suspect it is in a neighborhood and so conveniently located! There was something for everyone. My son and daughters all enjoyed fishing in the pond every evening till dusk. The house was perfect for us with two single beds for the teenagers and the host set up a comfortable cot for the littlest. The kitchen and cookware was perfect for dinners at “home” and we were super surprised to find a variety of simple ingredients and condiments. This host thought of everything! We loved every second here, from lunch on the picnic tables to chasing the fireflies at night. We will definitely be returning in the future!

the property was very clean and provided all of the necessities needed. Our fur baby enjoyed jumping off the deck & swimming. We were there just to get away & relax. The host even let us use their hose & water to wash our fur baby after her swimming! Enjoyable get-a-way.

The cottage was great! Everything we needed was provided. The setting was very relaxing and peaceful. We brought our dog and there was plenty of space to walk him around. There was even a small fenced in area off of the one bedrooms which was very nice to have. Communication with Larry was very easy and he was quick to respond to our questions. Would definitely stay here again in the future.

I love this place! You have the privacy of your own house, but the owners are right next door and always willing to help with whatever you need. You feel like you’re in the country, but just minutes from everything you need. It was our second year staying here and we will definitely be back!

Great little place. Very comfortable. Larry and Margot are wonderful. Once again, spectacular shore fishing in their private pond. This was our 2nd stay. Hoping for a 3rd!

Of all the cabins we stayed, this is the best in every category. Fantastic people to deal with , cleanness everything stocked , and lets not talk about fishing, I'm not a fishing person but i caught at least 30 or40 bass allover 2. 5 pounds and my wife did fantastic on bluegills, we will definitely go back.

We had a wonderful time. I booked this cottage as a place to stay while we visited the Children's Museum. It is so conveniently located, only 20 minutes to the Museum and shopping is minutes away! The cottage was wonderful and had everything we needed. We had so much fun fishing! My 7 year old grandson caught 24 Largemouth on a tube! We also enjoyed the fire pit where we roasted marshmallows. We would like to make this a yearly trip!

The cottage was perfect. Larry and Margo thought of everything. The area near the cabin was pretty . Cottage was comfortable, with a well supplied kitchen. We will be coming back in future, and maybe catch a fish in the pond, or canoe around the pond, or just relax.

Comfortable and had everything you would need in kitchen. Beautiful peaceful views all around and easy access to the highway and grocery. Would definitely stay again

We were in town for a cross country meet for my daughter and wanted a place to stay that had room for our family of 5, gave us the ability to cook our own meals and would allow our dog also. Larry and Margo had the perfect place! The cottage was very clean, they were happy to answer any questions we had about the area, they even had an additional bed set up for our toddler when we arrived. The cottage was fully stocked with all the kitchen essentials, extra sheets, towels, etc... Unfortunately it was too cold for us to enjoy the pond and the fire pit but they would be perfect for a summer or fall vacation. If we're ever back in Indianapolis, we'll be booking this cottage again!

We loved our time at Buck Creek Cottage! It is well located in the suburbs of Indianapolis. The park across the street is magnificent. The owners live on the property and are available if needed, otherwise are delightful to see in passing. They have thought of everything, from well-stocked basic pantry on arrival to yard games in a closet!. Highly recommended!!

Relaxing getaway
The pictures and description does not do justice for this beautiful and cozy cottage. We were 20 minutes from all the attractions but felt like we were out of the city . This cottage would be great for a getaway by itself or going out for the day. The property is gorgeous and the pond/fishing/fire pit was great ! The owners Larry and Margo was welcoming and so nice ! We had a great time ! The cottage literally had everything we needed for a hassle free trip . Our three year old and lab also had the best time
