Lovely setting for this hotel
Cleaning wasn’t quite what I expected from such a nice hotel. The bathroom in particular could do with a deep clean, especially around the edges of the bath.
3.9
Dimensione della camera e del bagno
Parcheggio gratuito

Good location and not too expensive - the half board option was really good value with breakfast and dinner included.
Bed was too small, mattress was uncomfortable and no water provided in the room (over £4 at the bar/restaurant).

A reasonable hotel in a splendid setting.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
First night booked for dinner ... sea bass was lovely.
Room quiet, spacious and comfortable!
Every day our key card dropped room code. Very frustrating when you have to negotiate the entire length of hotel and flight of stairs to get it reprogrammed each and every time we returned to our room. The 'bar' is at the top end of the restaurant and there is no bar seating area. The only seating, whilst extremely comfortable is in a large draughty reception area. Said reception is not only for guests arriving/departing but anyone attending conferences and events all of whom seem to gather and hold loud, often inebriated conversations next to seating, completely ruining it for those seated!! Also post covid I only observed the tables being wiped once in the restaurant.
The housekeeping on our final day over the course of 90 minutes, three times we returned to our room each time were told it would be another 10 minutes. There was a wedding in other side of hotel and guests had also taken over said seating area leaving us hanging around at the bottom of a stairwell. Will not be returning

Staff never really seem to be that engaged. Twice had to get their attention when they were sitting at a table at the far end of the dining room with their backs to the door. See very un professional.
The room was cold and I can never seem to get the heating system to work.
Breakfast is always cold. Pretty average standard of ingredients. Taste cheap.

Location was perfect for our trip
We have stayed here previously but the property definitely needs some TLC now. The extractor in our bathroom was excessively noisy to the point we were concerned about other guests, the blind to the main window in the bedroom was broken meaning we couldn’t raise it and there were cobwebs in the corners above the bed. Not sure if we would choose this property again.

Manor is lovely, staff were super friendly and couldnt do enough for you!
A lovely place if a little tired. There needs to be a bit of an update in some areas to improve

The location fantastic for easy trip into London and for the main purpose of our trip Harry Potter tour
From the out side looks so grand but inside unloved and unkept, had to change from our first room as hair in the bed, curtains not attached. Dust everywhere

The location was pretty. The room was huge and had a lovely view. The bed was comfy, and the clawfoot bath was very nice.
Everything is a tired, faded, in need of a good clean and general maintenance. Dinner was very average, breakfast was passable, the coffee was awful. It could really do with a refurb, but it was good value for what I paid....it has the potential to be fabulous.

I found the amount of stains on room carpet very off putting. The lack of skirt around the divan bottom and lack of pillows and poor pillowcases made for unclean let alone unloved look. I can see investment has been ongoing but smartening what is there would have a huge effect as such at present it is more disappointing than an honest but fresh Premier Inn.

The rooms are really big, great value for money.
Lack of pillows

Big Rooms, plenty of space, good location
Sadly missed breakfast as was not told on check in it finished at 9.30, we thought it was 10 am,
Very hot and stuffy in the rooms as no air con, and hotel has no lift for luggage sadly

Food was excellent
Fourth and final stay rooms are going down hill First room in old building given had a hole in ceiling and smelt damp.dirty.. Given another room in annex no electricity and ripped paper on walls filthy carpets.finally got a room but again dated and dull .no view.couldnt have curtains open because people walking past the window Fan in room didn't work asked for another one was told would replace by a very unhappy looking receptionist had to ask again when we went to bed 4 hours later .

It was quite and safe and the room was clean. As solo female travel I felt this was a good place to stay
On the Friday there was a wedding booked it the music went on to midnight but it did stop dead on midnight. I felt that should have informed me that it may be noisy due to this.. as soon as the music ended there was no noise

Shannon the Receptionist, was a diamond for the company excellent customer services. Went out of her way to ensure we were aware of the facilities at the hotel. The other staff were good as well. The hotel from the front was that of Downton Abbey and the gardens were exceptional. The restaurant was a lovely room.
The hotel outside was a picture, however, the inside was like Fawlty Towers. The grouting in the shower was missing here and there. The sink plug mechanism didn't work, the ends of the taps were missing. The heated towel rail didnt work. Blind missing in the bathroom. The toilet handle was snapped in half. A curtain in the bedroom was missing.
The mattress could have been bigger on the bed, it was in a wooden frame and every time I got out of bed or near the bed it bruised my legs. The quilt wasn't big enough for the bed and had to ask for bigger quilt. Handles on the wardrobe were missing.
Limited menu in the restaurant.

Very large, comfortable room (room 6) in a beautiful building. Warm welcome from staff at reception. Quiet location on golf course. Free parking. Restaurant on site.
Lift was out of order on our visit, but this wouldn’t normally be the case.

excellent wedding venue
loved the superior room. lovely view of the gardens
reception staff were excellent helping with a problem with a wedding cake knife
very rude self entitled golfer arriving at venue who was really angry and didn’t want to move to his side of the road to pass me as I left. not very pleasant for the wedding party arriving who I slowed down to pass (was really lovely to see enjoying themselves)….
not hotels fault- but not a great advertisement for golf club members

IT WAS A PLEASURE TO BE AT THIS HOTEL.
THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE WAS A PLEASURE.

It is very close to A roads so easy access . It is located on a golf course so secluded
It looks in places like it needs an injection of money for a refurb . In the bedroom it is tatty. The bedroom furniture is old and damaged . The bathroom fittings again old and very worn. It doesn’t impact on your sleep but a real shame .
3.9
The rooms were spacious and the beds comfortable.
The reception area is pleasant.
Breakfast was satisfactory.
Plenty of parking spaces.
The hotel was shabby, with peeling wallpaper, broken fittings, and huge damp patches in the corridors.
The curtains in our room had come off all but two hooks and were ready to fall. Wobbly table, etc etc
3.9
Good sized room and peaceful
Wasn't obvious how to adjust the lamps and lighting in the room, perhaps a few more switches would be useful

Can’t fault anything

nice period property, it looked very festive
the room was absolutely freezing, no instructions anywhere on how the heater would work, we even had an older gentleman from next door knocking our door to see if we had worked out the heating system, apparently his wife had some condition which did not do well in the cold. The rooms should have really been heated up for the guests, it was like walking into a fridge. I have stayed at Shendish few years ago for a work due and found the place looked a lot more run down than before.

Beautiful grounds
Good value for money for the room we had
No hot water.
Kettle broken
Bathroom had a sewage smell
