Helpful staff - there was an issue with the safe in my room and it resolved professionally and fairly quickly.
Decent breakfast which was available from 6am.
Coffee in the room :)
The ground floor is a little noisy.
The rooms are dark.
Nowhere to sit other than a basic office chair.

It is placed directly at the highway with infraestructure around ........
This hotel is known to me as COUNTRY INN since many before it changed to CITY SUITES. No investment so far seen in rooms, but specifically this time the pineapple in the breakfast was rotten. At check-out I verified again and it still remained the same. Feedback was given to frontdesk .......

English review here: 2 night stay in one of their "studio suites" and we were very comfortable. We had a last second check-in after a nearby Airbnb host didn't follow through on his part of the deal; he left out a bunch of important details which to me is simply lying and at best dishonest. His response when he was caught being dishonest was a refund and go to a nearby hotel. He recommended hotel Ibis, but I usually don't take advice from dishonest people, so we found city express suites. We booked through booking.com, and there was a little confusion, because the room we booked seemed much smaller than the 1 the night time desk clerk let us see before booking. He then said he'd get really close to the booking.com price and ended up giving us a really good deal on a much better room. King bed, 2 TV's (basic cable channels), sofa bed, good hot water pressure, AC, bottled water, coffee, microwave, and most importantly a good sized refrigerator; usually a hotel either doesn't have a fridge or has a really tiny fridge like one you'd find in a college dorm room. We had just went grocery shopping before we were forced to leave our Airbnb, so we needed a fridge. The WiFi worked surprisingly well; I tested the download speed between 30-33 Mbps. I could download a 90 minute podcast in about 2 minutes, and a 90 minute Netflix movie between 7-10 minutes. I'm still a little annoyed with SLP, but City express suites is helping turn things around.
The only thing that could be improved is the cable channels.

The property is good, you get what you pay for. It's located just outside the city, near the industrial area. Just outside there's a Chili's and a Sea food restaurant which are good options for a late dinner. I'd stay there again without a question.

Despite being an older hotel, this place has generally been kept in good shape and is clean. The staff were super polite, and thanks to their help, I managed to make an early morning meeting despite having an incorrect address. If I were just rating staff alone, this place would get 10/10.
The beds in the rooms are comfortable and large. Because of its location, it's very easy to get an Uber from this hotel. This is nice, as I discovered Uber isn't as plentiful in San Luis Potosí as it is other places in Mexico.
Keep in mind that there are two City Express Hotels in this area. The other one is marked as "Zona Industrial" and is a little farther out from the historic center than this one.
They charge you for your room beforehand--not on the day of the booking, but at about 11am the day ofyour reservation. Because I didn't know this, I got a call from my bank about a fraudulent charge and ended up canceling my credit card, since their commercial name doesn't say anything about "City Express". Once I figured out what had happend, I called, and good thing I did! It turns out they will cancel your reservation if they don't succeed in charging you before 6pm. I wish the hotel had sent me a message the first time the charge was denied, as replacing my credit card has become a massive hassle.
In addition, I could never get more than a lukewarm temperature in the shower. I tried to get warm by going down to the hot tub, but no hot water there either! Thankfully, the room was warm, so at least I didn't freeze.
