This adorable Mid Century beach bungalow, built in the 1950's, boast tons of charm and history. Minutes from the beach, this home is located a just a brief walk from the public beach access. You can also enjoy amazing beach breezes and views while relaxing or dining on the screened porch. There is plenty of parking and lots of great space to enjoy time with friends or family. Could sleep up to 11 if you utilize the two couches in the living space as well as the sofa in the dining area (twin sheets are provided for these couches).

We had another great stay at the Elma Catherine! This is our second trip, and it was just as lovely and wonderful as we remembered. Perfect location right near the beach with all the amenities we needed. Perhaps the best praise comes from my 9 year old who said, “When I’m older, maybe I can buy the Elma Catherine and stay here forever.” We had a tough time leaving, and we’re already planning when we can return! Thank you!

This is our 3rd or 4th visit to the Elma Catherine, and we loved every minute of our weekend. The house is beautiful, comfortable, and filled with thoughtful touches. Early morning coffee on the screened porch is a favorite.

This is the most quaint, cozy, clean home away from home. We loved the decor of the Elma Catherine - retro and colorful - it made the house even more enjoyable. It is a short, easy walk to the beach, which is where we spent most all of our days. Everything we could have wanted - and more - was provided in the kitchen. The beds and linens were comfy and of nice quality. This house truly felt like home. It is our new favorite place and hope to return again next year! Thank you!

This is our second year staying at the bungalow because we loved it so much. Short less than 1 minute walk to the beach, great use of a smaller space and inviting decor. We loved ending our day enjoying the screened in porch.

This is our 4th year staying on the island and this house is our favorite. Cute, cozy with everything you need. A short walk to the beach makes it the perfect location. We enjoyed the large screened-in porch to relax or eat meals. It really felt larger. The master bath is a nice size and includes the washer/dryer which is very convenient. The house was also very clean! The decor is perfect for the beach-bungalow look. The couches were comfortable and we always had enough seating room. Nice gift basket from the hosts. I would highly recommend this house!

This was our third time at the Elma Catherine, and as usual we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The cottage can be summed up in one word—“lovely.” The updated kitchen made cooking a breeze, and we ate every meal on the spacious screened porch. We will be back!

We have stayed in many different properties on Dauphin Island and this is by far our favorite! It’s just so…cozy. The details of this house a make you feel like you’ve slipped into a Nancy Meyers film, exactly what you need; to just be transported away to somewhere beautiful, calm, and magical. The house has everything you need. There’s spices, pots, pans, coffee, etc. The gift basket on arrival is a such a sweet touch. A quick walk right to the beach. What more can you ask for?! If you are wanting to pretend for a week that all is right in the world, spend a week at this gem! Our whole family, even the moody teens were blissful as soon as we walked in the door!

This was our second stay at the property. Loved the large screened porch! It was large enough for all of us to hang out. The very short walk to the beach was great. Very clean, nicely decorated and the welcome basket was awesome. We will definitely be back.

This is the 2nd time my family has stayed here. The house has been updated and looks amazing. Our favorite is the screened in front porch. We eat outside on the table and love sitting in the rockers while our kids swing. We will definitely continue to stay here!

This was the most well thought out and organized home that I have stayed in. No sooner did I wonder where smething was that I turned around and it was there. Beautifully decorated I had family come and stay for one night and there is plenty of room for all to find a place to be away from the crowd. I hope to come back often. Thank you so much.

Just perfect for any family. We loved the master suite with private bathroom and our kids enjoyed the screened in porch. The beach was very clean and only a short walk from the rental. We look forward to returning next year.

First of all.... The location is excellent! Walking distance to the beach. House was immaculate. Perfectly clean and supplied with all essentials. De or was beautiful! Communication was fast and no issues. Enough beds for a huge family. TVs in all rooms. Great sunroom to relax and enjoy the gorgeous sunset. Will recommend 100%

This beautiful beach bungalow is amazing! We had a wonderful, relaxing week at the beach. The porch is perfect for playing games and reading (check out the little library on the property). On top of that, the interiors are beautifully designed.

This is the third time we have stayed at this beach house for spring break and it never fails to disappoint! Extremely clean, responsive hosts, plenty of towels, linens, and towel hooks (something we usually find lacking in rental homes)! Kitchen is really well appointed, and a quick walk to a quiet beach. Wonderful stay as always!

What a wonderful stay! The Elma Catherine is such a lovely cottage. Everything was clean and check in was easy. We loved the welcome basket! The cottage is beautifully decorated and had everything we needed. You can see the ocean from the front porch, and the beach is only three houses down the road. It was quiet and relaxing. We’ll definitely be back!

Property was clean and inviting. Extra touches made our stay wonderful. Enjoyed the "welcome" card, snacks and cleaning supplies. Having spices and a few cooking essentials on hand sealed the deal! The covered & screened porch was amazing. It rained during 1/2 of our stay and the porch let us enjoy the island in spite of the weather. Would recommend to anyone !

A great week at the beach

We had a great week! Lots of sunshine and only a short walk to what felt like a very private beach. Beds were comfortable. Kitchen was adequately stocked, except for the nonstick pan that is no longer nonstick. Satellite reception was generally poor so don't plan on a lot of TV time unless you like the same shows my 3 year old granddaughter does. Having a hot spot on your phone is also helpful if you bring your lap top. However, these were only minor hiccups. The week was meant to be a time to enjoy the company of our grandchildren before they headed back to school- and we did!

The house was in a perfect location and the owners could not have been nicer or more accommodating. Each time I reached out to them I was answered quickly and were extremely helpful (even when we got locked out….oops). The house was also very clean and had anything you could need on a week long trip with your family.

What a wonderful week at the beach. The Elma Catherine exceeded our expectations.When we got there it was immaculate. One of the cleanest rentals we have ever stayed in. It was tastefully decorated with a nostalgic collection of furnishings and antiques, yet it had all of the right amenities. It was larger than it looked. My wife and I, along with our 3 daughters, were comfortable and had plenty of room.Like others who have reviewed the Elma Catherine, we loved the front screened in porch. When we weren’t at the beach we were relaxing in the rocking chairs or porch swing visiting or simply listening to the sound of the ocean. If you are looking for a place to unplug, it doesn’t get any better than this.My only complaints might be with the WiFi which was slow and had a lot of latency. It is satellite WiFi so I suspect we may have been there when data limits kicked in. It still allowed us to do everything we needed.Melissa and Shelby were responsive and answered questions quickly. The gift basket that they left along with the essentials such as trash bags, detergent, soaps, etc. we’re greatly appreciated. They were great hosts.We’ve stayed at a lot of beach houses and I have to say that this is my favorite. We wouldn’t hesitate at all to stay there again during our next visit to Dauphin Island.

My family really enjoyed our stay. Beautiful house, comfortable and we had everything we needed. Plenty of equipment in the kitchen and lovely welcome extras. You can definitely tell that the hosts take pride in their home. As others have said in previous reviews, the internet could be spotty at times, but it did not detract from our stay in the least. Short walk to the beach,10/10 would recommend and would stay again. :)
