Beautiful room and wonderful host.

Very nice property, pretty view. Even if we didn’t see them a lot the two people who I believe work only part time at the property were really nice.
There is little support, there is no reception, no breakfast, no room service, at times we felt like we were alone in the property. The fact that the breakfast was not available was a big issue since the property is 20 min from the village, you see the pictures of the breakfast on booking but then it is not available. I also wish I was offered a tour of the property we were basically just shown to our room without any further information. The bedroom was comfy but there is no door for the bathroom which makes a very romantic place a bit uncomfortable.

The all house was clean and beautiful
The reservation said that it had breakfast but we didn't have none.
We were late for check out and try to ask for more time but they didn't allow us even to stay on the all waiting for our ride...they put as out with no manner.

room was spacious and beautiful.
The dogs barking… so noisy!

location is off Sintra center, if you like a quiet place in a village like area it is the place for you.
The room is very big. view are great and surroundings are ever green. it makes you feel like you are back in time in the positive sense.
Stuff is not present, all communications are done by phone/mail (responsiveness is OK)
Doors noise isolation is bad, so if you have a noisy neighbour you will hear hi/her.

The location of this Quinta is very picturesque, and the place feels very grand with big rooms and lots of antiques. It looks like it had a well kept garden you could spend time relaxing in.
The biggest let down for this property were the dogs. From the moment we arrived for almost 3 hours there was incessant barking. Turns out the owners keep at least 5 dogs in kennels right outside the property. It did calm down but still barking at 1am when you want to sleep. I'd planned to spend some time sitting in the garden whilst staying here but clearly that wasn't going to be happening.
When someone did arrive to greet us (we checked ourselves in) and we mentioned it the response was polite but clearly a big shrug of 'well you should expect this' but they made no attempt to mention this on the listing.
The room itself is grand but the lack of effort for guest experience is clear. The rugs did not look as if they were vacuumed not least because there were big gold stars and multiple hairpins on them.
The bathroom had cobwebs and the included toiletries consisted of a single half used tube of shampoo/shower gel. Their reasoning was to save on plastic but there's much nicer alternatives such as refillable bottles and soap bars which other hotels have chosen. The shower holder in the bath was hanging off the wall and you couldn't have a stand up shower without holding it.
There was no water in the room we were just expected to use the bathroom taps.
For the grandeur of the property what you get is far below expectations and could be so much more with a little effort put in.
All in all I am surprised they have the high rating they do on here since I found another review identical to mine on Google.

Wow. We loved this place so much!! The host, Ana, is the best!!!! The house itself is the most unique, beautiful, and special place situated in the countryside near Sintra. In over two weeks of travel through the south of Spain & Portugal, this was by far the best accommodation. The house has been in their family for over a hundred years. It was so relaxing to be in the countryside and Ana had great recommendations for hikes that started right at the doorstep (to the The Monserrate Palace for example). She also gave us great recommendations for in the town of Sintra and she did everything in her power to make sure we were comfortable (Coffee, tea, fresh fruit in the rooms!). We took a train from Lisbon to Sintra and used Uber to get from Sintra/the national park to and from the house. We left the windows open the whole weekend to hear the birds, goats, and soak it all in. We will absolutely be back and we'll dream of Quinta de Sao Tadeu until then. Could not recommend more!!!!!! :)
There was absolutely nothing we didn't like.

Very nice owner... and the breakfast room is AMAZING!
We were looked after very well.
Although hidden away behind a screen , I'm not sure I'm an fan of not having a full door for the toilet!
