really friendly and great location
the price of the room but understand because it was formula 1 weekend

Nice character hotel. Nice bar and restaurant. Location was good for the business trip
Room was a bit tired and you could hear every noise.
3.7
It had a good old school feel about it, very friendly helpful staff, very clean rooms, comfortable bed, for a 15th century hotel it was very warming and welcoming.
Only problem, you can hear all noise through the wall, from the next room, and having the bed, on the same side, the noise traveled more during early hours.. those walls needs sound proofing of some kind..
Very squeaky floor boards..

location. Comfy bed.
very tired, needs a lot of money spending on it. Limited parking available.
3.7
friendly staff good location
very tired in need of drastic refurbishment.
shower didn’t work and was leaking.
Basin taps in bathroom didn’t work properly.
Very noisy at night from road noise and people in hotel banging about.
3.7
Breakfast was good
The reception asked for my "nationality"
The breakfast menu in the room clearly stated that "continental breakfast" was £6.99 and the "Full English" £10.00
The receptionist insisted on charging £10.00 for the "continental breakfast" that my sister and brother-in-law had claiming that the room menus were "wrong"

Location & Staff
Rooms require attention
3.7
Excellent location, staff polite and courteous.
Room was clean and tidy.
Easy access car park.
Like a lot of hotels the rooms were tired.
3.7
Good location and parking. reception staff efficient. Bed very comfortable, quiet at night.
TV difficult to work. Bathroom pretty basic. Although choice of breakfast was good there weren't enough staff on considering there was a wedding the night before. Coffee was lukewarm, bread wasn't replaced for toast and although the quality of the food was good, serving it on cold plates meant it went cold very quickly.

very traditional hotel in keeping with the town, great location

great little hotel, very convenient and great breakfasts
3.7
location. breakfast
very noisy. tired and shabby.

The room was spacious and well decorated. There was s hairdryer, an iron and ironing board in the room. I was with my 91 year old mother who found the facilities very easy to use. Although there were parties, weddings on while we were there you could not here anything in the room. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
There was nothing I didn't like.

food was fabulous!!
staff helpful
needs up dating (The bedroom)
floor boards really noisy,
I found the room dull,
bed uncomfortable

warm and comfortable
food was always a little over done and we had to wait over an hour for our evening meal to be served.

Great location and friendly, helpful staff.
The quality and fabric of the rooms left a lot to be desired, and there was a most unpleasant smell in the whole area around rooms 1 & 2. We had no cold running water when we returned to Room 1 after dining. We were quickly moved to Room 6 where the smell and bathroom were better. We were also given a reduction on our bill, in recompense, which was gratefully received.

Location = good
History of the building = good
Cleanliness of bed sheets = good
Staff = helpful (if overstretched!)
Tired decor, especially in our room. Very dingy and dark.
Dirty sticky lumps of stuff (like marmalade or similar) on surfaces in our room. I found some sanitising cleaner and cleaned surfaces (ie light switches, tops of dressing table/side tables, taps).
No heating ... or hot water for a shower/bath.
Parking difficulty.
Smoking/vaping allowed in rear courtyard by entrance to reception. Unpleasant for both receptionist and customers alike.
Food not particularly good - I had braised lamb with mash and veg on Saturday evening. The lamb was very fatty, the mash was hard around the edges and unpleasant.
There was a wedding party which completely took over the premises! We went for breakfast at just gone 9am and juices/pastries/bread had mostly gone from the restaurant. We had our breakfast in the bar area.
No wi-fi.

Great location on the High Street. Free parking at the rear and nice outdoor seating. It's a lovely old building and the inside bar area was very nice. I had an evening meal there which was quite a large portion for average prices. A good range of ales were served by friendly staff.
The rooms were clean but mine was in need of some tlc - paintwork mainly.

lovely old building in a very pretty location
stairs were quite steep but that’s being very picky
