I liked the location, it was so close to Byron 7min drive but felt like a world away, general vibe was really nice, quiet and secluded. The manager was lovely and contrary to other reviews super helpful and affable. Breakfast was delicious, would definitely book here again

Geweldige massage gehad! Vriendelijke gastheer
Inboedel was wat armoedig voor prijs. Deurtje vriesvak kapot & vriezer vol met ijs. Stukjes van de glazen af. Ook was de kamer wat klein. We konden de bagage moeilijk kwijt

Peace & Tranquility.
1.Room size and up keep- Photos can be decieving. The rooms are small, although outer deck makes up for lost space.
2.Property needs maintainence. From Bathroom to doors everything.
3. Oudoor deck balustrade was broken - Safety hazard

The view of the pine forest from the room and balcony, the great service and the Japanese theme.
Nothing to mention as it was all good.

The only good point about this property is the location - very peaceful, easily accessible and a short drive into town. Cooked breakfast 1st morning was very good, 2nd day fruit and muesli average. That’s where the good news ends.
We are at a loss, as to why there are good reviews of Azabu. The property, and the rooms, have been neglected , are shabby, and badly in need of renovations. The pool didn’t look too inviting . Cleanliness and hygiene are well below par. Rooms are sparsely furnished, not conducive for relaxing, and the only view we had from our room was a 2 metre bamboo fence! , with a postage stamp size balcony . The host begrudgingly changed our rooms after we complained , and whilst he acknowledged that the property needs serious improvements, his attitude was indifferent, and he was quite rude and offhand about the matter. Obviously guest relations is not a priority. The photos on Booking.Com are inaccurate and misleading. Our special weekend was ruined by staying at Azabu.

1. The retreat. is located nicely on a hill at the back of Byron. It's less than 10 minutes to get from the cnetre of Byron to the retreat.
2. The staff providing the massage were really friendly and did an amazing job
I should mention that this is the first time that we have reviewed a place on Booking.com with less than an 8/10.
We got excited by the opportunity for a quiet weekend in a 'retreat'. Unfortunately, noise travels a lot at this location. If you have the place for yourself, it's probably fine, however, we came on a weekend in which other guests were there which meant we heard everything (!) - this included a wedding weekend from 2 of the guests who were enjoying themselves until 2am at night making it impossible for us to sleep. But even without those neighbours, you will ahve to live with the fact that you will hear everything, incl. people having a shower, people having a conversation, walking up and down the stairs etc etc.
Another issue for us was cleanliness, we ended up wiping off a fair bit of dust and git rid of spider webs etc in the spa area of the room. One could say it's not a huge issue but the room was $330 per night and we felt like a dust free floor should be a given for that price.
When asking the receptionist (or manager; or owner?) for help we received a rude, semi-aggressive response.
We won't be back.

Lovely, helpful staff. Peaceful place. Nice pool. Kept clean and tidy.
We had been interested based on pictures of the large balconies with tree views but ours was smaller and had limited views. Maybe just check on booking if this is important.

Tranquil, green and peaceful.
Our room looked slightly dated, a slight refresh can certainly take it to the next level.
The top windows in our room could do with blinds to keep the early morning light out for those who may want to sleep in a little.
Also, the shower in our room was quite noisy, potentially plumbing issue - not a biggie but definitely worth looking into.

the room was great and the view even better. it was a peaceful stay, away from the crowds yet not to far to the cbd.

Hubby and I one night to celebrate our anniversary and escape from our kids :) Gorgeous facilities. Felt like we were in Bali. Our room opened out into nature with huge doors. Manager offered us a beer to enjoy by the pool when we said we wished we brought some. We brought our bikes with us and when we wanted to go into town we parked our car down at the end of Skinners Shoot Rd next to the backpackers and rode into town and back from there, it worked well. The pool and deck chairs were great. Would recommend.

The service from TP was absolutely second to none. One of the best customer service experiences I've seen at a hotel in Australia in a long time
The only slight negative was that the rooms were slightly outdated, however they were clean and presented as expected in photos. Can't fault them here.

Absolutely loved our stay at Azabu. The rooms were so nicely styled and opened up onto private verandahs overlooking a rainforest. The location feels so secluded and tranquil, but isn't far (less than 10mins by car) from the centre of Byron, so it's the best of both worlds and easy to get to/from restaurants for dinner and down to the beach. The owner TP is accommodating and kind. The pool area is really nice and the local coffee provided in the rooms was delicious. Overall this place has a very relaxing vibe and I already can't wait to go back!
Nothing, loved it all!
