good location
Stay away from this hostel! The place is filthy and the staff are horrible. You are charged a $20 deposit on check in and this will be taken away from you for absolutely anything. They watch the cameras and take a deposit even if they’re unsure whether it is you or not. The cleaner goes in your bags and ‘confiscates items’ such as unopened food or drinks that are deep in your bag and then give them away to a ‘free to take section’ (or more likely the staff keep them for themselves). There is absolutely no space for your bags but they have a rule that if a bag is on the floor they can take it. The staff speak to you like a piece of crap too. Genuinely looks like a repurposed crackden. There are birds in the roofing of the room that you can hear moving around and chirping in the morning. There were bugs in the bed that we had to have staff to look at but was unresolved. There was mould on the ceiling.

Good location, close to the train station and bus port to move around Perth freely and cheaply. They had a free shelf to take things from which was handy if you needed additional bits of food to make a full meal in the kitchen.
The rooms are cramped, and fairly unclean. I swapped rooms halfway through and in my first room there were old socks/used bottles/random bits of paper under the bed that hadn’t been cleaned out properly from previous people. Other hostels that I have stayed all over Australia have staff that clean the rooms once a day but the 4 nights I was in room number 1, I never saw a cleaner once. In my second room there was a cleaner just the once in the 3 nights I was in there. Wouldn’t recommend to go there as a place to meet people, it’s a working hostel but does not state that it is. It would be okay for 1-2 nights while stopping over in Perth but no longer than that. Things seemed to get better when the manager turned up and the people that worked there were actually cleaning the hostel, but before that you wouldn’t know who the staff actually were.

The location was great for everything
Everything else. It was honestly disgusting and looked like someone took an abandoned squat and shoved some furniture from the tip into it. The floors, walls, doors were filthy, the bathrooms were grim including cockroaches, the mattress protector was stained and disgusting and should have been thrown out/burnt a long time ago, the mattress was loud and lumpy and uncomfortable, the bedding was poor quality. Graffiti and broken things everywhere. There were no redeeming qualities apart from the location. I’ve done a lot of backpacking all over the world and sometimes older places can have more charm and better atmosphere but this was beyond the limit

Good hostel vibes
Reception changed me $20 at the beginning, during check-in and promised to refund me if I would have brought, during checkout, my linens back. After doing so, nothing was given me!
Also, I ended up saying one night less (due to an Emergency and had to leave a day prior) no refunds AT ALL.

The staff were friendly and checkin was easy.
The photos look nothing like how the rooms look now, aircon didn’t work, I stayed in an 8 bed female dorm and there was stains on my fresh sheets, it seemed that all the girls on the bottom bunks had been living there for forever, there was not one single shelf free to put my belongings on. Definitely need more due diligence when it comes to stay length, belongings and room etiquette

Convenient location
I accidentally payed over $400 for 12 nights in a female dormitory because I thought it was a shared dormitory male and female. I’m a male. when arrived at the Hive hostel, the staff member told me I can not stay at the hostel and that the Hive hostel with not refund me my $408 dollars. The Hive Hostel also told me that they will not give me credit. I asked the Hive staff member to give me the Managers contact details and they refused. A few days later, I reported this unprofessionalism/ scam with the WA police.

We excepted tidy as shown in the pictures but found messy and the room was dirty and small even two people could hardly stand in that room.
It is competely different than what they have shown in the picture. we couldn't stayed there for more than 30 minutes and checked out same night.
