5 minute walk to a subway station
I might not have a set of reference for hotel prices in Beijing, but for 130 bucks a night plus 30 bucks for breakfast, I expect a little more than a worn out interior, hair on bathroom floor and scraps on the carpet. No shoehorn really flipped me out. And all those anti pollution laws are not an excuse, you can supply solid long (metal as an option) shoehorn on a regular basis, not as disposable. Which you should have done as a 130 buck-a-night hotel in the first place. The umbrella is there so why not the shoehorn? Breakfast for 30 bucks? For your reference almost an hour taxi drive to Beijing capital airport cost 15!

Good location.
Club Lounge had a lot less beverages as last time. The food is also not of same quality and quantity as before.
Staff still doesn’t speack a word of English. Ordering a beer or a taxi is a disaster.

We stayed for a few nights, then moved Shanghai for three nights, but returned for the last two nights before coming home to Australia. We were delighted with the hotel - staff were excellent and obliging, rooms (rooms both stays) were spacious with excellent showers and comfortable beds. Excellent location - subway station 7 minutes walk, loads of excellent restaurants nearby. An excellent hotel with outstanding staff.
There was difficulty controlling the room temperature. First room was too warm, but the staff supplied an excellent tower fan. Second stay (a week later) the room was a bit cold (but there was already a heater in the room - the previous occupants clearly agreed!). It appears that the hotel is aware of this and is working on it.

looking a little tired compared with my pre- pandemic stays

- Cleaning on a daily basis should be the basics.
not only our room was not clean for 3 days of our stay, when we reminded to do so.
they only came to change the towels, the empty bottles and the bin were not emptied, new water not replenish and floor not even lightly hoover.
- This is not the most welcoming considering Renaissance is a well known brand.

I didn’t like anything about the property, only positive thing attitude of the staff.
there is no western option for food at all( breakfast and dinner both). I had to order food from outside. my hotel room wasn’t clean any, everywhere was full of dust. the executive lounge I can’t even comment about it, there was no such a thing , I paid for nothing. The executive lounge is a waste of money, nothing else. when I arrive hotel, there was literally no one on the door. I was like a ghost struggling with carrying luggage. I got no help in the check in. the check in was terribly slow.

Not much
It was mostly empty, unforgettable bed, they didn’t disclose that the pool was closed and that they just opened up after a lockdown. This meant that they weren’t ready to have guests but charged me full price. The breakfast was falsely advertised and really small and not great.

Cleanliness
When trying to order room service they put me through to several different people because their English was poor. Only wanted spring rolls 😂

My room was nice and big with comfortable beds and a nice view. The bathroom was my favorite part: A spacious shower with rain head and seat; a large luxurious bathtub that I could relax in; a separate toilet that opened automatically when I needed it, complete with bidet! The room service was also very good and came quickly when ordered. I was truly able to relax in this room, which was the entire point of my stay. The breakfast was great as well. It was a buffet and had a perfect mixture of Chinese and Western food. There were pancakes and an egg station, fresh fruit, pastries, traditional Chinese dishes, a cheese selection, fruit juices, and a coffee bar with a selection of fresh espresso, cappuccino, or lattes made to order. All the staff were kind and helpful, especially in the restaurant during breakfast. I would absolutely stay at the Renaissance again on my next staycation in Beijing for sure.
I can't think of anything I would change. I liked everything about my stay.
