The hotel has its history but is ‘tired’. The pool garden and area is very picturesque
Our room was unclean (dust, stains, not working lights), towels were worn out (with threads sticking out). I have to admit that we complained about this and were provided an upgrade. However, the premises and rooms are clear old

Everyone is so friendly and helpful! The restaurant is fantastic and the wine cellar is amazing. It is the perfect experience for a romantic, grown-up vacation (away from the busyness of families with kids at the resorts you'll find in Nassau). They have live music in the lounge every night and offer lots of experiences (cigar rolling, wine tasting, yoga) and the pool/garden area is one of a kind! Absolutely gorgepus , quiet and private! It was definitely pricey, but worth every dollar for the kind of experience one can create if traveling solo or with your significant other.
It's pricey!! Depends what suite you get, but most do hold their old Victorian feel so be warned there's a lot of "antique everything", like the lamps and wall art. Also, besides dinner and the music in the lounge, the area shuts down pretty early, so if you're looking for late night fun you'll have to make your way to some resort properties (Bahamar, Atlantis, etc).

L’amabilité, la gentillesse du personnel
The luxury of the past.

location and style, and swimming pool
Not very clean and things looked tired. Several areas quite dirty, mosquitoes in the toilets and the Maitre D was comically officious. And officious is the correct word!

Food was great! And the esthetic of the hotel was beautiful. I loved the old school feel, it was like I was transported to the 1950s. The room was comfortable and air conditioning worked amazing.
The overall experience was good but could be better as the staff was subpar. We expected to be waited on with a bit more attention but we found ourselves having to look and hunt down people to get simple accommodations such as towels by the pool or room service. The food was great, and the ambiance of the place has its charm but needs work. I think they should offer more services to the guests that stay at the hotel pertaining to the tours of the historic background of the hotel for example.

Breakfast was good but slow.
Noisy toilet in Windsor.

Huge room
Thin walls that let many sounds go through our room, having WiFi in our bedroom was nearly impossible as well.

Nothing.
This hotel is a scam. Old, dirty, dilapidated bathrooms, little and cold water in the shower. The staff is not up to par. a hotel that isn't even worth a two star if they sell it as a 5. Smelly and noisy air conditioning, humid rooms. Sewage smell from the drains. Noises coming from the street. Money thrown away. Breakfast an hour later than scheduled.

In busy, touristy, sometimes even artificial Nassau, this is the oasis you are looking for. I can't put my finger on it, but none of the photos, not even professional ones, pay this place justice. They tend to come out "granny-style". But the house is a gorgeous colonial-style building full of antiques and lovely details. It is like travelling back in time, in a good way. The huge, lush garden with the pool (yep, that pool with the blue, painted bottom) makes you forget the crowded, souvenir shops and the dusty roads in a second.
I needed to get some work done, but the wifi wasn't great in our cottage in the garden. It is a good excuse to not work, but I have to pay the bills somehow....

The restaurant service was insanely slow and they got a lot wrong, but the wine list was awesome. Cool New Year's Eve party.
In my many years on booking.com I've never had such a disappointing experience with a hotel. I was so excited to go here and crestfallen to find they are falsely advertised. The room we were assigned was awful, not with a garden or pool view as booking.com promised, and instead down the busy street (with no sidewalk) above a noisy tourist shop. Toilet didn't work. Housekeeping didn't replace any water or coffee. On the first night, an absolutely gigantic rat ran past me on the stone stairs to my room. That moment just summed it all up for me. First time paying 5 star prices and getting dive bar experience. In short, this was not a 5 star hotel or experience and customer service was poor to nonexistent.

Atmosphere, staff all very helpful and friendly, general old worlde ambience and history. We booked a suite and had more than enough space, room very comfortable with sofa, comfy chairs, balcony. Location very convenient for wandering round Nassau.
We found the restaurant prices very steep so didn’t eat in the hotel apart from a lunch when we arrived. This was good but not superlative so we decided to try other places rather than staying on site for dinner. For a hotel with an incredible wine cellar we were slightly amazed to be given a card at lunch for (very everyday) wine at $20 a glass.

The restaurant maitre'd Anthony and housekeeping Kim were amazing as was Maureen at reception and the woman who took care of our reservations. The head waiter Major was superbas was his entire team Glinton, Dinero, Chris and ther was one other but I can't remember his name.
We lost water pressure on our second day, but the staff helped us change rooms and we were fine.

It was beyond anything we ever expected!!
Ambiance was truly exceptional.
The food was superb ... especially the wine tasting luncheon
I had a lot of trouble with all the stairs on the property.

The historic building and gardens.
Reception desk lady, room maids, and waiters at breakfast were welcoming and efficient, made my visit feel more special.
Plastic plants in room, fridge not switched on, TV not working(message to set up for Internet?), discoloured bath plastic fittings and sealant that should be renewed or replaced.
Unsympathetic building work to walls and ceiling for aircon and alarm detectors in historic room.
Unfriendly welcome when I arrived with young friends that I would like to have invited in for a drink and see the historic interior, a stand-offish behaviour we found to be rude - I can only think this was because staff were tired and weary, as my friends were polite and well dressed.

Well located, historic, charming and lush property in the heart of old Nassau.
Not well maintained. Evidence of faded grandeur visible everywhere. Come for a meal if you like but DO NOT book a room.

The place is magical. It is meant as a hideaway spot which it attains. The rooms/suites are gorgeous and quaint. You can literally get anything you can imagine it just might take a little time and planning if its something uncommon.
They used to have a gym, not well equipped, but at least it was there. Since our last time there they have closed the gym and use it as a storage room now. The hotel really needs to refurbish the gym and add the spa back. There are also a lot of broken electrical boxes and lights which need to be replaced. It makes the place look run down a bit.
