Awesome service and semi private onsen selections were amazing:
The quality if the amenity, especially the ones made out of bamboo were great.
The price was a bit too high probably because of Sakura season. Also they should not clean up everything that we left in the room including some high quality amenity that could have been totally reusable.

This is an absolutely amazing place and I’m sad I only had one night here. Everything about this place was on point. They will pick you up from the train station, help you make accommodation to get to the airport, and the staff are so nice and attentive! I wasn’t able to have dinner or breakfast at the facility but I know it would have been great.
The private Onsens are to die for! I had one in my room but still booked a 45m time slot to use one of the outdoor Onsens since it was included in the stay. It’s a dream! Any time I come to Japan I will make it a point to stay here. You won’t be disappointed!

Meals were delicious. Private baths available instead of public was really nice.
The location was hard to get to but bc of the shuttle it made things easier. My one complaint is that the free fruit plate they serve, no one came to retrieve the dirty plate so it was left over night. The private bath had no hair dryer so I had to walk back to my room with wet hair.

Staffs are super friendly. Room is clean and cozy. There are free beverages and ice creams. Shuttle bus is convenient, and if you don't have Japanese phone card, use WhatsApp or Line to connect to the hotel. Onsen is good and easy to reserve. Use indoor onsens if you hate bugs ;p.
Too far from train station if you don't call shuttle bus xo.

Nothing, it was great.

This was such a great find. We had never been to the Arima area before and we loved our stay here. We splurged and booked the rooms with open air onsens and it was fantastic! Loved having the espresso maker in the room (not standard in Japan) and the open living space.
Everything was perfect

I enjoyed my stay here so much; the service was top tier! Being a 5 star place, it’s a bit on the pricier side, but I completely understand - you get what you pay for, and that is definitely a 5 star stay. Friendly and accommodating staff, with a free shuttle service for all their guests. The private hot springs were so relaxing and I liked how the booking system for them worked.
I don’t think they have small rooms? I was one person, yet the room I got was basically the size of an apartment, with the mountain directly outside my window. My room had a futon mattress, which was made at a time of my choosing (between 6pm and 8pm), and I actually liked sleeping on it.
Overall, I loved my experience here, would come back one day!

Great private onsen facilities for hotel guests. Service was excellent.
I wish the website was a little clearer that all guests can book private onsen facilities...and I wouldn't then have booked a room with an attached onsen bath.

Food was stellar. Property was concerned about meeting our dietary restrictions but managed those admirably. Presentation, variety and quality was excellent

The private onsenis perfect, you can book it for unlimited times of use during your stay. The atmosphere and view are great as this hotel is located at the high end of the town. The shuttle service provided by the hotel made the stay easier if you are getting there via public transport. All the staff members are nice and very helpful.
Some equipments are bit old and not in their perfect working order. Going to arima onsen via train requires a lot of efforts as you need to change 3 times even from Kobe.

nice onsen
overpriced for the quality (850€ for a 2 night stay), stains on the ceiling in my room, poor restaurant recommendations, dated interiors (especially for the price)

Private hot spring!
Very great dinner!
The welcome fruit is very rich!
Slightly expensive!
Restaurant service is a bit grim!

Amazing onsen! Loved that we could book private spas in such a luxurious hotel. And the town is quite fun to walk around during lunch time.
Apparently you have to order breakfast and dinner a day in advance. If you don't, the hotel will not feed you nor will you be allowed entry in their restaurant. WHAT!? Also, the nearby town has very few breakfast or dinner places (its more of a lunch town) so our anniversary dinner ended up being onigiri (rice balls) from a convenience store. Totally ruined the romantic vibe.
Also, the hotel staff would not speak English, so my wife had to translate everything. This lead to miscommunication. And yet, during checkout, I heard the staff speaking English to a different guest. WHY WERE YOU HAVING MY WIFE TRANSLATE EVERYTHING IF YOU SPOKE ENGLISH THE WHOLE TIME?
I wish I could have rated this hotel a 10. But after my experience with the (lack of) breakfast and dinner, and the staff treating my wife like that, I simply cannot.

Yes, I enjoyed it a lot. It was very thoughtful to give us more rice because we have kids.

Staff were helpful with questions
Given the high rating, we had a lot of expectations with this hotel. The biggest gripe we have is the lack of communication about dining options before our stay. There were NO dining options in the hotel as it was completely booked out. No in-room dining options were available either (citing COVID as reason). We were given a few options nearby which were mostly booked out as well and have to settle with whatever was left. We stayed here because we thought we could be in the hotel for everything. This was a big disappointment, given the price.. as we we didn't feel the age and condition of the room justifies the asking price.
Secondly, onsen is 100% private only. There's 8 to choose from, but I felt a little restricted by the 45 minutes session limit, which means you have to get out of the onsen and book again. You cannot make multiple bookings at once. During peak periods.. you will have trouble booking slots, which means you cannot realistically relax more than 45 mins at a time and have to go stressing out booking another one.
Overall, the experience just didn't live up to the expectation as compared to a true local onsen hotel. It almost feels like it's designed for foreigners new to onsen, which it may well be. I would come here just for the onsen on day trip.
