A wonderful stay for a solo traveler

A welcoming home away from home! I had a wonderful weekend stay. The bedroom was large and comfortable with loch view, the bed welcoming. The breakfast as many others have said was epic! Freshly prepared for me every morning. And the most wonderful hosts, truly felt like visiting family. Highly recommended and can’t wait to return :)

Not what was promoted online, poor value for money

The host was very pleasant, our room was spacious and clean, the breakfast was good.

We booked the accommodation based on the description and photos on Booking.com. We assumed we would stay a few nights and have a chilled out stay and stay within the accommodation, with restaurant facilities being shown within the pictures. The venue appears to have been a guest house with cafe and restaurant at one stage, but there is conflicting information and signage. They still maintain to call themselves a Country House in some places and Guest house in other places. I feel this is a bit of false advertising and misleading to potential guests. Our accommodation was €525 for bed and breakfast for two nights, two adults and a 10 old stayed for free. I have to say for the price it was very steep for Bed & Breakfast in a guesthouse, if I had of known it was now not as advertised I would not have booked to stay here and if I did book, I would say €250/€300 would have been more sufficient for the stay. We could have booked a proper spa hotel within Ireland for the same dates at the same price. We were told by message after booking that the restaurant was temporarily closed, although seeing other reviews online, the restaurant appears to have been closed for some time now. I think they need to update their photos, description, signage to state they are a guest house with only breakfast facilities. We meet the owner at the time of checkin and she is a nice person, our room was very spacious, clean and modern. We availed of the free kayaks at the rear of the property and also brought some fishing gear to fish in the rear garden. Not having the facilities we though was going to be available, we went out around the local area to try and find something to do, although places didn't seem to be opened midweek or the weather was poor, which left very little to do. It appears the rooms are priced for overflow for weeding guests attending a nearby venue and not priced to accommodate regular travellers.

We loved the place.

We met Helena on arrival. She was warm and friendly and showed us to our room. It was spacious and very comfortable with a magnificent view of the lake. It was a special weekend for us and it was very kind of Helena to leave a personal greeting card and a gift to welcome us. We felt very relaxed and welcome there. Breakfast was fresh, tasty and beautifully presented. After breakfast we had a stroll down to the lakeside. The view is stunning. I could stay there for hours.

We didn't like having to leave and would like to have been able to stay another night.

Not what it was advertised like in the website at all.!!!! No restaurant open no bar open. Very disappointed I text the lady to say it was so disappointing and I got no reply. Absolute waste of money

This stay is a gem! The facility is beautiful, the breakfast is wonderful, the staff is very friendly. Beds are very comfortable and the room is very spacious and well appointed. I just picked this place randomly for one night on my way back to the Belfast airport. What a wonderful surprise it was! Highly recommend this property to everyone staying in the area

I liked the location the lake. the room was lovely. clean beds were so comfortable and the breakfast was beautiful. Helena was a wonderful hostess made us all feel right at home and she was so welcoming. Helena wrote out all the lovely places to go site seeing. I would really recommend a stay at St Koran’s Guest house fantastic experience

A gem of a place.

We were met by Helena and Patrick on arrival and they couldn't have been friendlier..such a beautiful place spotlessly clean huge room and beautifully furnished everything looked brand new..stunning lake views with so much to offer..would highly recommend..breakfast was gorgeous.would love to visit again and take advantage of the outdoor facilities that are available. Good luck for future plans.

Hidden gem in Virginia!

I booked 2 nights at this amazing place in front of the lake for my birthday as a self gift. Before booked my room I called to the hotel asking for a bathroom with bathtub. They called me back to confirmed that they will reserve a room with a bathtub for my arrival. So before I arrived to the hotel I found a very charming host even on the phone! The room was face the lake! I have facilities to prepared coffee and tea as I wish. The bathroom was so well designed, spacious, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and a very good amount of food! Both days I was so full that I have to skip the lunch! They provided me toast, coffee, a delicious homemade granola with yoghurt and fruits and an amazing vegetarian full irish breakfast and omelette with veggies! The owners were so kind to dont charge me a glass of wine that I asked on my birthday (even before they knew that I was celebrating my bday!). They always were very helpful and happy to chat during breakfast or when we meet in the hotel! I wish more people found out about this gem hidden in Virginia!

Nice to receive a call ahead and the offer of early check in was appreciated (although I didn't realise an earlier check in was losing the room with a view I had chosen the hotel for for my family). I liked the breakfast and the view from the hotel breakfast room was nice. The bathroom was very nice and everything was quite clean.

My bed was a single in a family/triple room. For me it wasn't so comfortable but my brother in the other single didn't mind at all. There were marks/stains on on the painted wall above one of the beds that I found distracting (how did they get there??). I booked a view over the lake and chose the hotel for the lake view but with our earlier check in we got a non lake view. If I had known, we would have preferred to have a coffee somewhere and waited for the lake view room. A lot of unfinished walls/wires in the back garden for an extension was noticeable.

We stayed one night at st Kierans , which we really enjoyed. We would come back again .

The location was beautiful. owner of the property was very helpful and friendly. The property was spotless, comfortable and well equiped. The breakfast was exceptional and included home made bread and gluten free options. All around an exceptional place to stay.
