Heavy deposit had to be paid and rules and regulations were just too much.

If you value your self respect then don't be mislead by the nice representation of this accommodation on bookings.com
Initial impression is one of neglect. Public walkways, staircases, railings, balconies-unswept, dirty, stained, muddy to walk on, broken open drain barely fenced off and dangerous.
Reception floor dirty, curtains barely fit and need cleaning. Receptionist initially helpful on arrival.
The apartment felt dark, murky and unclean. On deeper inspection there were cobwebs, dust, sticky surfaces. The bath looked clean as did the sink and loo. The radiator was dirty. Literally 2 tiny bottles of shower gel and 3 towels.
The furniture in the living area was paint stained, rickety, looked badly handmade with cheap material. Dining table was sticky.
The bed, the base was ancient, frayed, literally crumbs under the mattress which had a grey cover over it to disguise its condition.
Two bare, used, stained pillows and a bare duvet were left on it for us to make up with linen left on the mattress cover.
Apparently if you want the bed made they charge a fee.
In the bathroom there is a list of chores you are asked to complete before you leave, even after just one night, basically listing cleaning that is normally carried out by chambermaids not the guests themselves, right down to emptying the trash. Nothing about this on the website.
Kitchen, sticky surfaces, superficially clean, we certainly wouldn't have wanted to prepare food there. In a corner, a dirty bucket, mop and broom for guests to 'clean' floors.
Reception: provided on request card keys to 2 other rooms, neither card worked until the receptionist finally gained access to one, which was just as dirty. I asked, as reception closed at 7, how we'd gain access if card again didn't work? Answer: "well, it worked for me"
I decided to just accept the room we were given as it was clear the other rooms were unlikely to be much better.

The room was ok and clean
The breakfast room was dirty and had days and days of dead flies left on the floor, it was shabby, the coffee machine failed and the only person available to try and fix it was the receptionist who was over stretched with the amount of guests requiring her assistance....... It was disorganised and tired looking throughout and that was at the start of the season....!!!

The place is definitely not worth the price. The beds are hardly comfortable and have quite thin matresses that are very warm due to a plastic surface. All in all the apartment was not very clean and the bathroom is old. We chose the apartment during a warm season because it offered air condition - but it didn't work, even not in a substitute apartment we were offered after a complaint. So, the apartment had 27 degrees at night - very uncomfortable in combination with the hot matresses. In fact, the hotel cannot hold the offer of air conditioned rooms, even if this is included in the price. The staff was not really sorry for the situation or eager to find a proper solution. All in all, very disappointing since one can find really nice apartments at that price in that area.

Nothing
Its not in La Rochelle! In the middle of nowhere. You have to clean everything, you have to make your own bed when you arrive. You have to put the rubbish out when you leave.

Hello,
I have accomodation at Vacanceole- Le Domaine du Château - La Rochelle/Île de Re,
Unfortunately the pictures on Booking don’t match at all with the reality. I’m very disapointed and also frustrated. I drove 700 km to be here and i find myself accomodated in an unapropriate place.
The place is untidy and unrenovated for probably 20 years. The bathroom door is scorches, the balcony is dirty and full of spider webs, and also a lot of things are rusted. iI shortened my vacantion with one week because of the impoper accommodation, I don`t recommend this place. They returned my money for the week in wich I left, after I write to manager and Booking, initially they didn`t.
Regards!

It was a good price, the apartment was clean and easy to find. Friendly staff.
On te outside it looks like a jail, and there are a lot of rules....I never saw so much rules and restrictions and fines you have to pay if you don’t follow the rules. (Nothing to do with COVID-19)Also you have to clean the apartment yourself and make your own bed.
