The property is well taken care of. It’s an older building that has been perfectly restored. It is extremely harming and you feel like you are in a home.

This is a perfect place to stay if you are into local history. It was a very unique experience The breakfast was amazing!
We were tired after a long day of walking and would have liked to go straight to our rooms, but our host immediatelly commenced to give us a tour and a recount of the history of the building.

Very attentive staff who is very passionate about his job and the premises. So helpful and took the time to show me around the entire hotel giving me the story of the hotel, decor and art work along the way. The breakfast was very carefully and lovingly prepared and served. A very special place to stay.

the property is very old and so it is a bit musty…my allergies acted up a bit but sleeping with the window open helped a lot

One of the best places. 10 out of 10. Better than the Paradores that I have stayed in Spain. Thinking of planning a trip back to Viana do Castelo with family so that I can stay at this hotel again.

I travelled with a friend and we wanted to somewhere small and boutique, that was central and had a lot of history. This lovely house is an original old Portuguese house, right on the main street. Steeped in history with some of the original decor and fittings. It's a must stay!

Gorgeous historic house with lots of artifacts and decorations, incredible balcony and ceiling design, lots of cool rooms to wander in. Staff was very attentive and helpful, carrying bag, making delicious breakfast, and walking us to a restaurant that was still open. Nice back view of the church on the hill, and there was a friendly cat in the backyard.
2.5
the style of the property and the personal attention of the owner. the historic nature of the decor. the garden is lovely. the hotel is close to, but not in the historic centre of the town.
the rooms smell musty and the towels were not freshly laundered. coffee and tea facilities were not in the room but in a common area downstairs. the en-suite was a “box” installed in a period room that really wasn’t in keeping with the era of the property.

The breakfast spread was generous and varied. the staff really want to make sure you have everything you need. They were helpful with directions and restaurant and museum suggestions. They were thoughtful and respectful of us and their beautiful building which has several rooms in which to drink coffee or port or read a book or just bask in admiration of the exquisite objects of embroidery and ceramics throughout the building.

My stay at Casa Manuel Espregueira e Oliveira was lovely. The location was great for the spring festivities held in Viana do Castelo for Pascoa (Easter) and the gardens at the casa are tranquil and a quiet place to escape. Breakfast was a treat with traditional foods served for the holiday. The owner provided excellent recommendations for local restaurants and was very accommodating when I needed help with taxi service and laundry. I felt well taken care of!
