The AC was powerful, it was a very warm afternoon when I check-in so the AC really helped me to cool down from the long day I had traveling to Nagoya.
People judge others who review a hotel like some experts. I never thought of myself as one, but I'm leaving a review based on the experience I had at the premises. That's what a review is for, right?
Check-in, The front desk confirmed the room was reserved for 2 pax, I said yes and my wife was at work so I wanted to check in first. He asked, "Japanese?" I said yes because my wife is a Japanese. He handed me a form to confirm the guest's information. He probably picked up that I wasn't that good at hearing Japanese, so he asked for my identification.
Here's my question, hotels in Japan probably never ask a Japanese to show identification, but when they see my name is not Japanese or I speak Japanese not fluently, therefore I need to show an ID? What kind of discriminating rule is this? There's no explanation for this rule whatsoever.
Visited Nagoya, and went back to the hotel room, my wife and I were both tired so we slept early. It was from 21:00-24:00 the door slamming from the neighbor was so loud, and it had been going on a couple of times. I guess I can't blame the guest for WTH they kept going in-&-out the room several times in a row at late night, but I think I can blame the design of the door was so bad, that every time someone closed the door it made very loud noise no matter how gentle whoever did it. I couldn't sleep at all & left in the early morning for another visit to the city.
I stayed at this hotel for its price and location. The first time was wonderful, but I was shocked my second visit became such a horrendous experience.
Additions: (removal of sentimental comments)
Rating amendment from 2 to 3 simply hotel has responded.
Unfortunately, it wouldn't change my overall experience of this hotel.
I understand the laws and regulations applied to this matter, but that check-in experience I had was called "Profiling" and that's what the law enforcement department would do.

The location of the hotel was good, made it easy to do some shopping in the Sakae area.
The hotel is quite old, as are the furnishings. The air conditioner didn’t have normal controls, just low/medium/high. The bidet controls are on the front face of the counter and were accidentally pressed a couple times squirting water everywhere. The room itself didn’t offer much, so it wasn’t a really good value for money.

Location was good, walking distance to the stores and restaurants. and walking.
Wished to find some bottled drinking water in the room. Room was not clean. The owners need to spend money to update and modernize the building and guest rooms.

The staff was kind and attentive, and the hotel was located near downtown.
The room is not big enough for three persons, and the TV took a lot of space.

We were looking for a cheap hotel near a station in Nagoya and this was just right for our budget in comparison to what we can find in this district and near Nagoya station. The rooms were spacious and they provide a third bed for the third guest.
When we came in the room there was an old, rotten smell coming from the bathroom. Seems clean but smells bad Probably because the hotel is old and the aircon is centralized. You cannot change the temperature of the room. Our room at that time was so hot we have to open the window of our hotel, but I’m exchange we have to suffer the loud noise coming from the highway.

I don't like the cleanliness of the room most especially the bathroom, it was disgusting. The size of the toilet cover doesn't fit on the toilet bowl. The bidet's direction is pointing on the right side and not on the front, and the water coming almost spills on the right side of the floor and might wet your pants or your underwear. The Bathtub floor was broken, it has a big crack on it that if you accidentally slip or jump on it, it will totally crash because they only patched it with a ducktape instead of replacing it. The walls has a lot of stains and also has a lot of cracks on it. I wanted to chang to another room but my spouse and child said its embarassing and told me to don't mind it. Wish i had a photo of it...

They could really do some major improvement with the breakfast, to say the least, or not offer it at all.

The breakfast and general service was good. Staff were helpful.
The rooms are too small and not convenient. Microwave is on the top-most floor which is not at all convenient. Rooms have only Japanese tea (limited options).
