You don't meet anyone when checking in. You get emailed a code to your room and enter. Check out the same way.
The room was lovely. The size we knew was compact due to the size of the building but cute. The AC did not work properly. So the room was overly hot. There was no water bottle in the room and the tea and coffee facilities were 1 tea bag and 1 sachet of coffee. Fine if you are on your own. But not good if in a couples room.
The AC not working properly. It was overly hot in the room. Hallways a bit tired. Carpet needs upgrading and the walls could do with a spruce up.

Location was good. I was able to get an iron quickly. It was seamless check in as they message you the codes beforehand. The lounge is nice too.
The hidden entrance was shared with a Ladbrokes which as a solo female traveller I felt a little uncomfortable with. I did not realise the number of stairs to get up to my room with a feature staircase (whilst beautiful, they were narrow and winding and with a suitcase it is not easy to traverse these). The room could also have been cleaner - when I arrived there were post it notes on the ceiling, a knocked over kettle in the corner and the previous guests shower gel cap and open soap in the shower. I was a little disappointed given the amount paid to stay. I had also messaged the property beforehand to request about luggage storage but unfortunately no response was received. The communication only began post stay commencing but it was seamless following this.

good comms prior to arrival. so new all key codes etc. room clean. no view - but I knew hotel was quirky. nice to have tea and coffee making stuff in the room. nice and quiet.
TV not working - kept saying no signal. and no clear instructions on how to fix it. and no indication of who to phone - no reception to go to. also, window in roof - so had to operate with remote - which didn't seem to work.

Hotel room. Very clean and near.
This is not a hotel!!!! It is essentially an airbnnb. Two doors with a code in 2 dark alleys and no staff on site. Now, this is in itself not a problem but should be clearly stated on the website. I consider this misleading.

cute and rustic

great location
no staff and no sense of welcome. this is really an airbnb and not a hotel. it’s just a room with a door code

My family and I booked 2 rooms at the hotel as we were attending a family wedding at the Bodleian library. Location, therefore was important and the location of the hotel was pretty good. We also appreciated the hotel staff making our rooms ready for us to use much earlier than the normal check-in time (11:00) so that we could get ready for the wedding.
The access was via a keypad and the facilities available for residents were rather limited for the cost of the rooms.

The room was quite with no disturbances during the night. Access codes for the external door and room door worked without issue and email with door codes and instructions was clear.
This premises is misleadingly described as a Hotel - when in fact it is best described as one bed apartments. Each of the two entrances from the street are difficult to find and somewhat obscure with one external door located within the entrance to a different premises and the other external door down an alleyway. The room itself was very small with minimal room around the bed which was described as a double bed. It was not possible to walk freely around the bed. The toilet and shower whilst clean were incorporated into a hall way to a kitchenette.

Central location. Had everything you need and the room was modern and nicely decorated.
Car parks not that close so a bit of a trek with cases and then had to take them back to the car as there was nowhere to leave them after we checked out. Also it didn’t seem to have a shaver point for electric toothbrushes, which was surprising as everything else was very modern

The staff was very accommodating and helpful. Although there was no interaction with real people, they were helpful via email and very responsive. They really helped with our needs.
Our first night we had a very warm night and no working AC. Because we didn’t have a phone (only data plan) we were unable to contact anyone since we arrived so late. We finally got it sorted the next day but the first night was tough.

The room was pleasant, the bed was FANTASTIC and the staff who we contacted when we had an issue were really friendly and helpful
We had an issue with the air-con so had to switch rooms, where there seemed to be a leak from the toilet. The executive lounge had no soft drinks only water and the coffee machine wasn't working (which seems has been an issue for a while). A nice hotel but very expensive for the facilities and issues that there were.

The location was excellent and the room was comfortable. The air-con worked well.
Scruffy entrance, uninspiring, felt like going into student digs at 4* prices. The carpet in the entrance, stairs & room8 needs cleaning or changing.
The shower in room 8 is running slow, we did let the manager know as it could cause a flood.

Location.
Noise in Room 1 - next to the pub, so difficult until closing time. No lift.

Great location, comfortable & well presented rooms. Breakfast room with help-yourself breakfast and drinks was an added bonus.
Nothing

Central location, close to everywhere we wanted to go.
Apart from the location - a big disappointment. Arriving down a scruffy alley wasn't great and would put off lots of people (the alley is shared with a nightclub and a taxi rank)
There was no decaf coffee, so we didn't try the breakfast but instead ate out in town.
I really wanted to love this hotel - the age of the building made it appealing on the website, but the reality didn't match up with my expectations.

The location is in the centre of town, so that was very convenient.
The 2 entrances are not very impressive. One is in the entrance of a betting shop and stank of smoke and the other is down the side of a pub alley.
The fact that there were no staff is very off-putting.
There are very steep stairs to access all rooms, so not suitable for some.
6.0 / 10.0
The location was excellent in terms of proximity to attractions, right in the city centre. It was easy to walk to the colleges and museums we wanted to visit.
This isn't a hotel as much as an automated system of rooms. There are two lounges with basic breakfast food available, but staff have to be phoned with any queries. The nice views shown on the booking page only apply to a couple of rooms, while the majority of the rooms (2-8) accessed via the alleyway full of takeaway wrappers are just well appointed Travelodge rooms really. Our room (room 2) was particularly noisy, with whirring fans during the day mounted outside on the pub, and with drunken people on the Saturday night until around 5 am. If you're a good sleeper and just want to be in the city it's fine, but I'm a light sleeper and won't be staying here again.

Central location and the rooms were fitted out to a high standard. The best thing was Khadija, who did everything she could to sort out our problems. If it hadn't been for her prompt actions, I was going to with hold part of the payment
We paid a lot of money for the room - £170. We had deliberately chosen a classic double, as looking carefully at the pictures on the website the cheaper standard doubles looked like they didn't have windows, and we both suffer a bit with claustraphobia. In the pictures on the website the classics clearly did have windows. Only our room didn't. Khadija manged to swap us to a larger room, but still with only a skylight high up in the roof. The website emphasised the luxurious Rituals bath products but we had the normal budget hotel ones. These were swapped for us, and I know it's a minor point, but it's again misrepresentation. The main disappointment was paying that sort of money and having to get into the building using a keycode in a dark alley, to get into a building with no visible staff on site, We did phone the number and Khadija did arrive and was super helpful, but really, £170 and no manned reception/bar?
